OPPO F21 Pro 5G Review with Pros and Cons: Overpriced

OPPO F21 Pro 5G Review
OPPO F21 Pro 5G

Most of the smartphones with Snapdragon 695 Porceesors are available for under Rs 20000 but OPPO added the same processor in OPPO F21 Pro 5G which is available at Rs 26,999 RAM for 8GB + 128GB Storage. In short, OPPO is charging a premium for this smartphone.

By the way, the device is available in Rainbow Spectrum and Cosmic Black color options and it will be available from 21st April 2022 on Amazon at noon.

Now, the phone does have its Pros and Cons, so let’s find out whether you should spend Rs 26,999 on OPPO F21 Pro 5G or not?

OPPO F21 Pro 5G Review

There is no single reason you should spend Rs 26999 on OPPO F21 Pro 5G because it’s not worth buying, I mean, OPPO has given a triple camera and there is no ultra-wide lens in it, only has a 60Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 695 SoC, a single speaker and still, OPPO is charging 27k which not justifiable.

If Rs 10000 smartphones come with 64MP + 2MP + 2MP rear cameras then that’s okay but when 27k smartphone does that, it doesn’t make any sense. Here, OPPO is just doing the cost-cutting taking some extra profit.

Also, the OPPO F21 Pro 5G only has the 33W fast charging which is also not a good look because we have phones like Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge with 120W charging and RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G with 60W charging, and both of these phones provide value at 25k.

Here, I will say the same which I have said in OPPO F21 Pro 4G Review…

Now, even after bad specifications and prices, people will buy OPPO F21 Pro 5G because OPPO will target the offline market and when it comes to the offline market, OPPO sold’s way much compared to online.

So if you go to the local store and if the shopkeeper convinces you to buy this device, don’t fall for that because OPPO gives hall lot of commission to that shopkeeper and that’s the reason, they try to sell you OPPO or even Vivo phones, rather then RealMe or even Xiaomi…

Display Quality

OPPO F21 Pro 5G Review image11

OPPO F21 Pro 4G comes with a 6.43-inches 60Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and 600 nits of brightness. The front is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 while the backside also has glass but the frame is made out of plastic.

The phone only has 600nits pick brightness which is not good considering the Rs 26999 price tag, so if you’re outside of your house then it will be a bit difficult to see the screen, now it’s not like, the display won’t be visible but you will see the difference when you go outside and use this device.

The phone does have Widevine L1 support which means you will be able to watch FHD+ content on OTT platforms.

Overall, for the price of Rs 26999, OPPO could have provided a better display. So considering the price and the quality of the display, the phone doesn’t have the best display, if you have used a 90hz or even 120hz screen then you will be disappointed.

Cameras

OPPO F21 Pro 5G Review image6

Both the OPPO F21 Pro 4G & 5G variants have the same camera setup and both the phones take the same images, So here, you might see, some similarities from OPPO F21 Pro 4G Review…

The OPPO F21 Pro 5G has 64MP primary sensor, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor while there is a 16MP selfie shooter on the front/ Both of these front and rear cameras can shoot videos up to [email protected]

By the way, the phone doesn’t have OIS support, the video footage will come out shaky while the has a little bit of issue with dynamic range, sometimes, the videos do come good but sometimes, it feels like, why I did I pay 27k for the device.

Also, at night, there will be noise in the images as well as in videos too, OPPO has added a dedicated night mode in the stock cameras app but again that doesn’t work well.

Coming to that 64MP sensor, OPPO is knowns for selfies and that same can be seen on this device too, for some reason, front cameras take better images than rear cameras.

So if you’re that person who wants to pay 23k for a front camera and you can’t buy any other smartphone brand other than OPPO then what can I say, OPPO F21 Pro 5G could be a good option to consider.

Also, those 2MP + 2MP sensors added to the market this device in the offline market, so ignore it, treat this device as single cameras smartphone.

Here, OPPO F21 Pro 4G has a 32MP front camera while OPPO F21 Pro 5G has 16MP front cameras, and yet, both the phone takes the same image, with not even a single difference in the quality.

All-in-all, you’re paying that 4 thousand extra for chipset because everything else on the 5G variant is the same.

Overall, Oppo F21 Pro 5G doesn’t have the best camera or good cameras, it has average cameras with a premium price tag.

Performance

OPPO F21 Pro 5G Review image13

We have seen Snapdragon 695 SoC in the recently launched Moto G71 5G & RealMe 9 Pro 5G and the same has been added to OPPO F21 Pro 5G but the difference is both the RealMe and Motorola phones are available at 18k rice while OPPO is charging 27k for the same processor.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC is a powerful processor and it can handle almost every single mobile game without any problems.

The naming of a processor can be confusing but don’t worry, the Snapdragon 695 SoC is a little bit more powerful than Snapdragon 750G. The device runs on ColorOS 12-based on Android 12, now, OPPO hasn’t said anything about the future updates.

It also has 5G support and it has 5 5G Bands.

There is no doubt that the Snapdragon 695 is a powerful processor but on the other hand, it’s not worth the 27k price tag. I mean, if users can get the same processor at 18k then why they should pay 11k extra for OPPO F21 Pro 5G.

In short, if you’re a heavy gamer or even a gamer, don’t expect the powerful performance from this chipset, for gaming you should consider the Smartphone with Snapdragon 778G Processor.

Audio Quality

OPPO F21 Pro 5G Review image12

The phone doesn’t have stereo speakers, OPPO has provided a single bottom-firing speaker.

The single speaker is loud enough to watch YouTube videos or even movies without earphones but still, OPPO should have provided stereo speakers because this is a 27k smartphone.

It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone along with carrier aggregation which will help a lot in calls.

By the way, OPPO has also added a 3.5mm audio jack which is another plus point.

Overall, the audio and even call quality are good, with no complaints.

Battery Life

The OPPO F21 Pro 5G comes with a 4,500mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The 33W charger will take about 60 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.

Overall, the battery will last for a day, the Snapdragon 695 processor is power-efficient and it will give better battery life.

In the end, it will depend on user by user, and how they use the smartphone.
