Samsung Galaxy M53 5G Review with Pros and Cons – Letdown
Galaxy M53 5G is a downgrade from Galaxy M52 5G, still, its the latest Samsung smartphone, so you can consider it if you wanted to buy a new Samsung smartphone otherwise, Galaxy M52 5G is still, a better option compared to Galaxy M53 5G.
Also, we have the RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G (review) at 25k which offers better value compared to Galaxy M53 5G, so all in all, Samsung is charging extra for their Logo.
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G price in India starts at Rs 23,999 for 6GB RAM + 128GB storage while the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 25,999. The device is available in Mint Green and Blue color options and it will be available from April 29th, 2022 via Amazon IN at noon.

Samsung Galaxy M53 5G Review
Yes, Galaxy M53 5G is worth buying but it’s not a value-for-money device, Samsung is charging extra money for their logo, so it doesn’t make any sense to spend Rs 23,999 on Galaxy M53 5G because we have a better phone like, Galaxy M52 5G and even RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G.
Samsung is marketing Galaxy M53 5G as a 108MP smartphone but that 108MP sensor won’t give better images than the 48MP or even 12MP sensor, it’s just a bigger sensor, and the quality of the images will remain the same.
This is high time for companies like Xiaomi, RealMe, and even Samsung to optimize their cameras rather than just add bigger sensors.

The phone does have a 5,000mAh battery and it supports 25W fast charging but guess what, Samsung didn’t provide a charging adaptor in the box, you have to buy a 25W charger from Samsung or use whatever you have at your home. By the way, Samsung branded 25W charger will cost you about Rs 1,999.
The MediaTek Dimensity 900 is a good processor but it’s not a powerful processor, so if you’re a heavy gamer then you will be disappointed with the performance, it’s a good chipset for day-to-day use and casual gaming.
Overall, for the price of Rs 23999, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G doesn’t offer value, still, it’s a good option for those users who wanted to buy the latest Samsung smartphone for day-to-day use. Also, if you’re okay with last year’s smartphone then you can also consider the Galaxy M52 5G which is a better option compared to Galaxy M53 5G
Also, if you’re okay with other mobile brands then do consider the RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G.

Display Quality
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G comes with a 5.70-inches 120Hz sAMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels and 420nits of screen brightness. On the front, Samsung has used Corning Gorilla Glass 5 while the frame and back are made out of plastic.
The 420nits of brightness would be okay for a 15k smartphone but the Galaxy M53 5G is priced at 24k, so this is not justifiable at all.
Now the phone is visible under the sunlight but sometime, it might get hard to see the smartphone’s screen or the written text on the display.

The phone does support Widevine L1 which means you will be able to stream FHD+ content on OTT platforms. Also, the MediaTek Dimensity 900 is powerful enough to handle a 120hz refresh rate but it’s not that powerful for heavy gaming.
Overall, for the price of Rs 23999, the display should have been better but if you’re a Samsung user you will be more than happy with it.
Performance
We have recently seen MediaTek Dimensity 920 processor in Xiaomi 11i 5G (review) and even in RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G and the same has been added to Galaxy M53 5G too.
The device runs on OneUI 4.1 based on Android 12, Samsung has also promised 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates.
The MediaTek Dimensity 920 is a powerful processor and it can handle almost all mobile games without any problem but this is not a gaming chipset.

That means, if you’re a gamer then you should skip the Galaxy M53 5G and take look at POCO F3 GT 5G (review) or IQOO Z5 5G (review) for a better gaming experience.
By the way, BGMI Mobile Game supports max HDR at an Extreme frame rate. Also, I didn’t find how many 5G bands Galaxy M53 5G has, if I find any information, I will update it right here…
Now, keep in mind, if you play BGMI at the highest graphics, the game does lag a little bit, so I would recommend you to play at smooth at an Extreme frame rate for better gameplay.
Overall, for day-to-day use, you won’t face any kind of problem, the phone will work like butter but as I have said, this is not a gaming smartphone, so don’t expect that.
Cameras
This is going to be interesting…
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G comes with a 108MP primary sensor + 8MP ultra-wide lens + 2MP macro + 2MP depth sensor while there is a 32MP selfie shooter on the front. The rear, as well as front cameras, can shoot videos at 4k@30fps & 1080p@30/60fps.
Now, the phone doesn’t have OIS support and it relies on EIS.
The videos do come out good at 1080p@30fps but when we go above that, the footage comes out shaky and there was some issue with dynamic range too.
For some reason, the front camera was taking slightly better videos than the rear cameras.
Samsung has added a dedicated night mode but still, at night, the images come out with noise, and the sensors are trying to overexpose the colors and in between, it loses out on details.
This can be fixed with a single OTA update, so if you trust Samsung that they will fix the cameras and optimize them after you buy the device then you should consider buying it.
Now, there was no issue when there were good lights or taking images under the sunlight, the details are there and the images also come out well. Again, as I have said, sometimes, some images had a dynamic range issue, it’s a hit-or-miss kind of situation.
For those who love saturated color, you will love the Galaxy M53 5G cameras because Galaxy M53 5G does add bit extra color to the images and even to videos too.
That 8MP ultra-wide sensor also takes some good images under good lighting but when it comes to low light, it suffers a little bit because of the small sensor size.
I would have loved to see a 16MP ultra-wide lens but Samsung wanted to add 2MP+2MP sensors.
Also, 2MP+2MP sensors won’t do much, so it’s just for decoration, nothing else.
By the way, if you love to take selfies then you will be more than happy with the 32MP front camera, it takes good images as well as good videos too. No issue with dynamic range or even with details, looks like Samsung has worked on front cameras more than rear cameras.
Overall, for the price of Rs 23999, the phone doesn’t have a great camera, this can be called a decent camera but as this is a Samsung smartphone, you can call this a great camera (pun intended).
Battery Life
No point in guessing, the Galaxy M53 5G doesn’t come with a charging adapter, you have to pay Rs 1,999 to Samsung to buy the 25W charger separately.
This way, you will pay Rs 23999 for the smartphone + Rs 1,999 for the charger, so the total will be Rs 25998…
Also, most of the smartphones at 25k come with either 120W or 65W fast charging support but Samsung decided to go with 25W wired charging support.
That 5,000 mAh battery will last for a day but in the end, it will depend on how you use the smartphone in day to day life.
