Infinix Hot 20 5G Review with Pros and Cons – Too Many Problems
Infinix is focused on a budget segment which is good but they also have to provide some value. Look at this newly launched Infinix Hot 20 5G, it’s an almost perfect smartphone but it’s not as good as POCO M4 Pro 5G.
Infinix Hot 20 5G is priced at Rs 11,999 in India and it comes with Blaster Green, Racing Black, and Space Blue color options while it will be available from 9th December 2022 via Flipkart at noon.
So let’s find out in this Infinix Hot 20 5G review whether it’s worth the Rs 11,999 price tag or it’s just another budget 5G smartphone.

Infinix Hot 20 5G Review
Yes, absolutely Infinix Hot 20 5G is worth buying but it also comes with some flows, whether it’s a waterdrop notch, no secondary mic, only 18W charging support, LCD panel, single speaker, and even a huge front bottom chin. However, it does have MediaTek Dimensity 810 which is a powerful 5G processor.
So yes, if your budget is Rs 11,999 and if you want a 5G smartphone then do consider it otherwise, it’s better to skip it.

Also, if you’re okay POCO brand then, gently ignore the Infinix Hot 20 5G and go with POCO M4 Pro 5G which is priced at Rs 11,999 and this too also has MediaTek Dimensity 810.
Concluding everything from price to features, Infinix Hot 20 5G is a good smartphone but the fact that we have POCO M4 Pro 5G at Rs 11999, so it doesn’t make any sense to buy Infinix Hot 20 5G.
Infinix Hot 20 5G Pros and Cons
PROS | CONS |
---|---|
120Hz Refresh Rate | OS filled with Bloatware |
MediaTek Dimensity 810 Powerful SoC | No Secondary Mic |
12 5G Bands | Huge Front Bottom Chin |
Good Option for Gaming | Only Single Speaker |
IPS LCD Display | |
Too Old Waterdrop Notch | |
Average Cameras |
Display
The Infinix Hot 20 5G comes with a 6.60-inches LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and pick a brightness of 500 nits.
The display brightness is not the best, if you use a smartphone under extreme sunlight, let’s say around 2 to 3 PM then you might have a hard time reading text.
So yes, the screen brightness could have been better.
Also, the device has a waterdrop notch which doesn’t look good at all, this is the end of 2022 and I feel, the phone shouldn’t have a waterdrop notch for at least above Rs 10000 price range.

It also has a huge front bottom chin which looks ugly.
On the front side, it has Panda Glass Protection while the back and frame are made from plastic. Also, even after using plastic, the phone has 204 grams of weight.
In short, the display is not good, it’s an average LCD panel while the build looks and feels cheap.
Performance
The MediaTek Dimensity 810 is a powerful processor, so whether you want to play games like COD Mobile, PUBG New State, or even Free-Fire then you will able to play it at high graphics without any problem.
In short, you’re getting Rs 15000 processor on Rs 12000 smartphone.
The only problem is XOS.
I have said many times that Infinix needs to change the OS, whether they want to shift to stock Android or improve the XOS, they have to choose one.
I mean, look at their smartphone lineup, they have some of the best smartphones at good prices but because of the OS, I’m hastate to recommend Infinix phones to my friends and family.
By the way, the OS is feature-rich, hall, they even added Whatsapp call recording within the OS.

All in all, OS needs to improve, big time. Also, the phone comes with hall lot of pre-installed apps which again is not cool.
Forgot to tell you, the Infinix Hot 20 5G runs on XOS 10.6 based on Android 12. There is no word from Infinix about whether the device will get Android 13 or not.
Also, the device comes with 12 5G bands including n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, 38, n40, n41, n77, and n78. One more thing, as of now, the device doesn’t support 5G connectivity because Infinix didn’t push a 5G update yet, I hope, they provide it soon.
Overall, the smartphone has a powerful processor, the only problem is software that can be improved but it depends on Infinix when they want to do it.
Cameras
Infinix Hot 12 Hot comes with a 50MP primary sensor and 2MP AI sensor while there is an 8MP selfie camera on the front. Both the front and rear cameras can shoot videos at [email protected]
Here is single paragraph camera review,
Don’t expect anything from the camera department, be happy with whatever camera you’re getting. I have never seen Infinix improves the camera quality after the launch, so don’t expect that.
That 2MP AI camera is for showcase, so ignore that…
The 50MP primary sensor is also another showcase because it doesn’t feel like a 50MP sensor. The sensor adds a bit too extra color to whatever picture I took, whether it’s a tree, a human, or even the sky.
Now, this won’t be an issue for lots of Indian users because as per mobile brands, Indian users don’t like natural colors, they prefer saturated and white images. (do let me know in the comments whether it’s true or not.)

In short, the smartphone takes usable images under good lights but when it comes to low light or night, it suffers a lot. The sensor adds a bit of extra noise and softens the images under low lights.
The 8MP front camera is just there, it will take white images while when it comes to portrait images, the edge detection is not perfect, it’s worst.
By the way, the phone doesn’t have OIS but it does have EIS which works sometimes. In short, the videos are not great but also not the worst either.
Overall, don’t expect anything from the rear or front camera, it’s Rs 11999 and it will take images or videos like that. Also, the camera could have been improved with the software but looks like Infinix didn’t spend enough time to make that happen.

Audio
It single speaker but it has a 3.5mm audio jack, worth it, isn’t it?
Yes, a single speaker is not good at all, the dual speaker is a way to go especially when the phone is priced at Rs 11999.
On top of that, it only has a single microphone which is another downside. For example, if you’re in a heavily crowded place then another person on call might have a hard time hearing your voice.
This is not the first time when Infinix ditched the mic, they’re doing this for years.
Overall, the single speaker is good but it’s not the best while a single microphone doesn’t make any sense whether the phone is priced at Rs 5k or even 12k.
Battery
The Infinix Hot 20 5G comes with a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging support. The phone will take 1.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%.
The battery will last for a day if you’re a bit heavy user but for normal users, it will easily last for two days.
I know, the 30W charging speed would have been better but this is what it is now…
Also, the battery life depends on user by user, I have given you some rough numbers.
Verdict
Infinix Hot 20 5G
Still, if you have any kind of doubts or questions then feel free to comment and I will see you there.
