OnePlus 10T 5G Review with Pros and Cons: CTRL+Z

I have used OnePlus 7T for years and that was one of the best smartphones I had ever used, also I wanted to upgrade to a new OnePlus device but then I heard that they were moving to ColorsOS which changed everything for me about the OnePlus.

Now, again we have the new T series smartphone and yes, whether you want to believe it or not, the OnePlus 10T is not the best smartphone to consider for Under Rs 50,000.

OnePlus 10T 5G Price in India

The OnePlus 10T 5G is available in Jade Green and Moonstone Black color options and it will be available via Amazon from 6th August 2022.

If you have an SBI Credit card then you can get Rs 5000 OFF + Rs 1000 extra, if you pre-order the OnePlus 10T 5G Before 6th August 2022.

OnePlus 10T 5G Review

No, the OnePlus 10T 5G is not worth buying because it has decent cameras, a plastic frame, integration with ColorOS, an ultra-wide lens that is poorly implemented along with an unnecessary 2MP sensor, and still, OnePlus is charging Rs 49999 for the OnePlus 10T 5G which is not justifiable at all.

Now, it’s not like we only have the OnePlus 10T 5G at Rs 50000, we have phones like Motorola Edge 30 Pro 5G, RealMe GT 2 Pro, and even the newly launched IQOO 9T 5G. Even if you come down to 40k, there are tons of better smartphones available than the OnePlus 10T 5G.

By the way, the OnePlus 10T 5G is a bad smartphone, the only bad thing about this device is its pricing. This would have been the best smartphone at Rs 40000 price tag but again, it’s OnePlus after all, so can’t expect that kind of pricing now?

In short, if you had a love for OnePlus then I think, it’s time for a breakup because you’re not getting the same value.

Display

The OnePlus 10T 5G comes with a 6.70-inches 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels while its 10-bit HDR10+ ready panel with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor.

It also has widevine L1 support which means, you will be able to stream FHD+ content on OTT platforms like Netflix or even Prime Videos. Now even after having the HDR10+ support, I wasn’t able to watch HDR content on Netflix, so I hope, OnePlus fixes this with OTA otherwise, HDR will remain just a feature.

The device has a pick brightness of 950 nits which means, there won’t be any kind of while using the smartphone outdoors.

The AMOLED panel is also good, so there won’t be any problems while playing games or even watching movies.

Overall, for the price of Rs 49999, the display is great and you will be more than happy with its quality.

Performance

We have recently seen the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in IQOO 9T 5G and this device performed better than I expected, in short, the OnePlus 10T 5G will provide the best possible performance.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is new 4nm processor from Qualcomm and they have fixed the throttling and heating issue, other than that, there is nothing new that you should know.

The last gen processor was throttling and heating a lot because it was manufactured by Samsung, so this time, Qualcomm canceled the Samsung contract and went back with TSMC.

For context,

Out of 100 chipsets, Samsung use to deliver 35 good ones while TSMC delivers 73.

What I’m saying is, whether you want to play heavy games like COD Mobile, Apex Legend, or any other, the processor won’t heat up and give you any kind of problems.

I wanted to add the BGMI but hey, it’s again banned by the Indian government.

By the way, the OnePlus 10T 5G runs on Oxygen OS 12 based on Android 12. The OnePlus has promised the 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates.

We have to wait and see, how OnePlus delivers the 3 years of OS updates because this is a new OnePlus handled by OPPO.

Let me just say this clearly,

I use to like OxygenOS but now, they have added some of the ColorOS features, for some reason, I’m not liking the new OxgyenOS. For now, OnePlus didn’t add bloatware but wait for some, it will happen.

Now, this is all me, your take on the new OxygenOS might be different.

Also, the device has 1 5G band and also, and 5G is launched in India and you will be able to use the 5G network in 15 cities by the end of 2022.

Overall, this is the best smartphone for gaming but what about cameras, let’s take look…

Cameras

OnePlus never had good cameras on any of their smartphones, even after partnering with Hasselblad, the cameras were decent.

For those who don’t know, OnePlus had made three year deal with Hasselblad but looks like something went wrong because we don’t have Hasselblad cameras in the OnePlus 10T 5G, so all the magic from Hasselblad won’t be there in this device.

Coming to the cameras,

The OnePlus 10T 5G comes with a 50MP primary sensor with OIS support, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor while there is a 16MP selfie shooter on the front.

The rear cameras can shoot videos at 1080p@30/60fps and 4k@30/60fps while the front can shoot at only 1080p@30fps.

Here, I feel, it’s high time that mobile brands should provide a 4K video recording option on the front camera too.

The 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor is well-tested and we have seen this sensor in many smartphones even the recently launched Nothing Phone (1) also had the same sensor and this phone is priced at Rs 31,999.

In short, the Sony IMX766 is a kind of okay sensor and when we get this sensor on a 50k smartphone is not a good thing.

The details are also there when taking images under good lights but when you take images under low light, the images will come out a bit softer and there will be sharpness. By the way, the same can be said for the front camera.

The 50Mp sensor will capture good images and you will be happy most of the time with its quality, it also works well under low lights too but don’t you won’t get any WOW movement because it’s a decent sensor.

What I’m saying is, that these cameras don’t justify the 50k price tag, the same quality we’re getting on 30k smartphones.

Now, that 8MP sensor is just there, it doesn’t provide good images, there is also a dynamic rage issue, it doesn’t happen all the time but it’s there.

For example, if you’re talking images with an ultra-wide lens under sunlight then sometimes, the sensor will give you hard time getting a perfect photo.

That 2MP sensor is there and let’s keep that sensor there only…

Coming to the 16MP front cameras,

I think you might like the front cameras because it tries to boost the colors a little bit, just like OPPO smartphones.

What else can I say, yes, when you take images under good lighting then the selfies will come out good but under low light, don’t ever try to use the front camera, always go with 50MP rear cameras.

You always have questions about whether the smartphone has Camera2api, so yes, the OnePlus 10T 5G does have camera2api which means, you will be able to use Gcam.

Overall, the OnePlus 10T 5G cameras don’t justify the Rs 49999 price tag, as I have said, you can get the same camera quality on a 30k smartphone too, even some of the 30k smartphones take better images than OnePus 10T 5G.

If you’re a fan of OnePlus and wanted to buy a new OnePlus device then it’s time to say good By to OnePlus unless and until you can’t live without it.

Here, Camera Samples of the OnePlus 10T…

Audio

The OnePlus 10T 5G comes with dual speakers and they’re also good too. Again, you will be more than happy with its quality.

The device has 2 × 2MIMO Carrier aggregation and two microphones, so there won’t be any issue with calling…

For those who are wondering, no the OnePlus 10T 5G doesn’t have the 3.5mm audio jack or even a micro-SD card slot.

Battery

The OnePlus 10T 5G comes with a 4,800 mAh battery with 150W wired fast charging support which will charge the device from 1% to 100% in 17 Minutes.

Just like everything else, the battery life depends on user by user.

Now, this is Rs 49999 and yet, there is no support for wireless charging. I know, most Indian users don’t use wireless charging but it’s good if it’s there for those users who use it because this is a 50k smartphone and not 20k.

Again, the battery life is great, it will last for a day but if you’re a heavy user then you will have to charge it twice a day.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a battery-efficient processor which means the battery will last for a day. Also, that 150W fast charging helps a lot but keep in mind, always keep that charge and cable with you, other chargers won’t able to charge the OnePlus 10T 5G at 150W.

Verdict

OnePlus 10T 5G review

As I have said, if you want value for money device then the OnePlus 10T 5G is not for you but if you want OnePlus Logo then this is the smartphone for you.

I don’t know for some reason, the OnePlus 10T 5G looks kind of cheap, it has Gorilla Glass 5 on the back and front but still, it gives you that 20k smartphone vibe.

Again, it could be only me or but I felt that, so wrote the same.

In the end, people will buy the OnePlus 10T 5G because OnePlus still have some fan who will buy the device no matter what, so don’t get surprised by the sale numbers.

Some of the hard-core fans are moving to other brands but still, there are lots of them who will buy OnePlus because it’s a OnePus device.

That was my review for the OnePlus 10T 5G, do let me know if you have any kind of questions about this device in the comment box, see you there.
