Redmi Pad Review

Yes, the Redmi Tab is worth buying because it’s well-priced and it comes with powerful MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, refind software, excellent speakers, brighter display, and 90Hz screen refresh rate.

Now, it’s not like the Redmi pad is a perfect tablet, it does have its cons but because of the pricing, it’s a good option to consider for under Rs 15000.

As of now, there are no other tablets available under Rs 15000 that offer the specs like Redmi Pad, so you only have one good option.

Display

The Redmi Pad comes with a 90Hz 10.61-inches display with a resolution of 2000 x 1200 and pick a brightness of 400 nits while this is a 10-bit LCD panel.

The 400 nits pick brightness is kind of okay, you won’t face any kind of issue while using the tab outdoors. I wish, it could have been 500 nits but this is what it is.

Now, of course, if you want to read text or read articles and if the sunlight is coming directly on the screen then you might have a hard time reading the text.

By the way, the tab has a plastic frame and back while Redmi didn’t mention what kind of glass protection they have used on the front.

The 90Hz refresh rate helps a lot while using social media or just scrolling through the UI interface.

It’s a great budget tablet for watching movies and even YouTube Videos. In short, it’s an entertainment device.

Overall, I don’t have any major complaints about the display, yes the screen brightness could have been better but I feel, most users won’t use tablets outdoors.

Performance

Lately, we have seen MediaTek Helio G99 in many budget smartphones, and looks like, an upcoming smartphone under Rs 15000 will use this chipset.

For those who don’t know,

The MediaTek Helio G99 SoC is an upgraded version of the Helio G96. Mediatek has mainly updated the CPU which means, the SoC should provide the batter battery life while the GPU has also gotten a little bit of upgrade.

You will be able to play games like COD Mobile and BGMI Mobile at 40fps which is great for Rs 14,999 tablets because we don’t have many tablets under 15k that support even 40fps gaming.

You can even play Apex Legends for hours, you will see a little bit of frame drop but that won’t affect the gameplay.

By the way, don’t buy this tablet just for gaming, it’s made for entertainment purposes. Altho, you can play a few games here and there.

Cameras

This is a tablet, so don’t expect anything extraordinary, also, don’t compare this camera to any other budget smartphone.

The cameras will help to scene document or take video calls and that’s it.

Altho, if you want, you can take selfies and even take photos but in the end, the result won’t be that good. So it’s better to use tablet cameras to scene documents or take video calls.

By the way,

The Redmi Pad comes with 8MP rear and front cameras while both the rear and front can shoot videos at 1080p@30fps.

Audio

Yes, the Redmi Pad has a quad-speaker that works great while it also has support for Dolby Atmos. So don’t worry about the speaker quality, you will get the best sound, and it’s clear too, the bass is also there.

The only thing I didn’t like is, there is no 3.5mm Audio jack present. As this is a budget tablet, Redmi should have provided the same.

The quality of each speaker is excellent, they’re loud and even clean too, so whether you want to play games or even watch movies, you won’t need the earphones.

Battery

The 8,000mAh battery will last for a day if you’re a heavy user but if you’re like me, who is a normal user then the battery will easily last for two days.

Also, the battery will last for a long time because of the MediaTek Helio G99 processor, if you’re a heavy user then you will have to charge the device between 8 to 9 PM but if you’re a normal user then the battery will easily last for two days.

It also supports 18W charging which will take a hell lot of time to charge because of the bigger battery size.

Summary

Redmi Pad is a solid option from Redmi at Rs 14,999 price tag, it has almost everything that a budget tablet should have and at this movement, we don’t have many good options, so it makes more sense to consider this tablet, if your budget is Rs 15000.
