RealMe GT Neo 3 5G Review with Pros and Cons: Worthy Contender

RealMe GT Neo 3 5G Review

RealMe GT Neo 3 5G

BBK Electronics owns OPPO, Vivo, RealMe, and even OnePlus, and all these brands just launch smartphones with the same specs, the only difference is OS but now, that too has changed.

RealMe, OPPO, and OnePlus now run on ColorOS whereas Vivo runs on Fun Touch OS.

So what recently happened is, that OnePlus launched the OnePlus 10R 5G in India and RealMe also launched the RealMe GT Neo 3 5G in India, so what’s the catch, the catch is, both of these phones are the same, just available at the different prices, funny, isn’t it…

What I’m saying is, if you wanted to choose between the OnePlus 10R 5G and RealMe GT Neo 3 5G then go with RealMe GT Neo 3 5G because it’s available at Rs 36,999 whereas the OnePlus 10R 5G is available at Rs 38,999 in India.

Back to the RealMe GT Neo 3 5G,

The RealMe GT Neo 3 5G is available in two versions, one offers 80W fast charging while another offers 150W fast charging, and yes, the price of each version is different.

The Device is available in Asphalt Black, Sprint White, and Nitro Blue color option and it will go for sale on Flipkart IN on 4th May 2022 at noon.

RealMe GT Neo 3 5G Review

Yes, RealMe GT Neo 3 5G is worth buying because it offers real value, its powered by powerful MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC, solid build quality, good cameras, superfast 150W charging support, 10-bit 120Hz AMOLED panel, 9 5G Bands, long-lasting battery life and its available at Rs 36999 which is a good price for what RealMe is offering…

Keep in mind that the phone doesn’t have world-class cameras, it’s good but there is a lot to work on. For example, the front camera has some dynamic range issues while the OIS doesn’t work in 4k@30fps and the colors also come out a bit saturated.

Under the hood, it has MediaTek Dimensity 8100 which is a powerful processor, and it’s close to Snapdragon 888 SoC, so there is nothing to worry about the speed…

Here comes the big part, the phone has a superfast 80W charging support but if you want that 150W fast charging then you have to buy the 12GB + 256GB variant which will cost you Rs 42,999 whereas, for the 80W variant, you will only need to pay Rs 36,999.

By the way, I feel, the 80W variant is good enough but the choice is all yours, if you feel that 150W is what I want then go for it.

Also, you can’t complain about the display, RealMe has provided the best panel under 40k, and you will be more than happy with the display.

Overall, for the price of Rs 36999, the RealMe GT Neo 3 5G is a good option to consider otherwise you can also take look at Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G (review) which is available at Rs 39999 and it is slightly better than RealMe GT Neo 3 5G but you will also have to pay Rs 39999 compared to Rs 36999.

Display Quality

The RealMe GT Neo 3 5G comes with a 6.70-inches 10-bit 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels resolution and it’s protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The smartphone is bright enough to use outdoors, there won’t be any kind of problem while watching YouTube Videos or calling someone.

RealMe has also added support for Widevine L1 which means, you will be able to stream FHD+ content on OTT platforms.

That 120Hz screen refresh rate helps a lot while using the UI or social media and also, MediaTek Dimensity 8100 is a powerful processor and can handle the 120Hz refresh rate without any problem.

There is also an in-display fingerprint on the front which works great but again, this is an Optical sensor, so if your hands are wet then the fingerprint sensor won’t work.

Overall, RealMe has used a good quality display, you won’t face any kind of problem while using it in day-to-day life.

Performance

The MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max is a new processor from MediaTek and it will give a close performance to Snapdragon 888 SoC, so don’t worry about the performance.

RealMe has also added 9 5G bands, so whenever 5G launches in India, you will be able to use the 5G network.

The phone runs on RealMe UI 3.1-based on Android 12, RealMe didn’t promise anything about the future update but going by the RealMe record, the phone should get the Android 13 update.

Also, I feel, Realme UI is more optimized as compared to ColorOS which is kind of odd but this is what it is…

Most of the mobile game developers optimized their games for Qualcomm processors which we have seen in the past and the same is happening now too.

So if you’re that user who loves to play PUBG or any other battle royale games and if you buy the OnePlus 10R 5G then you have to wait for a couple of months to play mobile games at higher graphics.

As of now, the PUBG on the RealMe GT Neo 3 5G only supports smooth at a high graphic which is not a good look for a premium smartphone.

By the way, there won’t be any kind of problems in day-to-day life, the chipset is powerful enough to handle almost all the tasks but for gaming, you have to wait till the game developer optimized their game for MediaTek Processors.

Cameras

RealMe GT Neo 3 5G comes with a 50MP primary sensor + an 8MP ultra-wide lens + a 2MP macro sensor while there is a 16MP selfie shooter on the front. The rear cameras can shoot videos at 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60fps while the front can shoot at only 1080p@30fps.

The primary sensor does have OIS but it only works in 1080p mode, it doesn’t work with 4K resolution.

Now, the OIS works fine, it will give smooth videos at 1080p@30/60fps but don’t expect the same at 4k@30fps. Even with the videos, the sensor is providing good details but just like every single BBK electronic smartphone, it tries to boost the colors, so the footage or images won’t look as natural as they should.

For example, if you’re taking an image of the sky then you won’t get the same image, RealMe will add extra blue color.

Under good lighting, the 50MP sensor captures a good image but when there is low light or taking images at night, the sensor doesn’t provide good images, it loses out on details and there is a lot of noise in images too.

I don’t think most of the users will complain about the saturated colors because as we have seen in the MKBHD blind camera test, people love the extra bright and punchier colors compared to natural ones.

Also that 8MP ultra-wide needs a little bit of improvement because, under low light, the sensor doesn’t provide good details. By the way, I feel as this is a 40k smartphone, RealMe should have gone with 16MP ultra-wide lens because the ultra-wide lens capture a wide range of area, so it’s better to have a bigger sensor rather than a smaller sensor.

We’re leaving in 2022 and yet, mobile brands are giving 2MP sensors, so they can say, our smartphone has a triple & quad-camera setup. So yes, don’t expect anything from that 2MP macro sensor, it’s added, so the phone can look good, it doesn’t have any use case.

The 16MP front camera also takes good videos but sometimes, it messes out the dynamic range, and sometimes, it takes good videos, so it’s hit or miss.

The selfie also comes out very good, likewise, the selfies have whities color ton, other than that, I feel, you will like the front-facing camera, still, there is a lot to work on, one or two OTA updates can make the front camera better.

Overall, considering the price and the cameras, the RealMe GT Neo 3 5G doesn’t have the best cameras under Rs 40000 in India, I mean, the RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G (review) takes the same images as RealMe GT Neo 3 5G and the fact that RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G (review) is available at 24,999 that speaks a lot.

Audio Quality

The RealMe GT Neo 3 5G has a stereo speaker which works fine, no issues there. Its dual speakers, so can’t complain much.

It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone. There is also carrier aggregation support which will help a lot in calling.

As this is a flagship smartphone, there is no 3.5mm audio jack. You can use the TWS earbuds or buy Type-C to 3.5mm dongle for wired earphones.

Here, you will be more than happy with the audio quality, and even call quality is also great.

Battery Life

RealMe is offering two different versions of the RealMe GT Neo 3 5G,

If you want that super fast 150W fast charging then you have to buy a 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and it will cost you Rs 42,999 this version has a 4,500 mAh battery.

There is also an 80W version variant which will cost you Rs 36,999 for 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and this variant has a 5,000 mAh battery.

Now, if you’re a heavy user then you will need to charge this smartphone two times a day.

Again, even if you manage to kill the full battery then you can always use the 80W or 150W charger.
