OnePlus 10R 5G Review with Pros and Cons: Don’t look

OnePlus 10R 5G Review
OnePlus 10R 5G

OnePlus was known for Oxygen OS and users were paying a premium for the OS as well but now that OnePlus phones are running on ColorOS, you can also consider the RealMe or even OPPO phones because their phones also offer ColorOS.

The newly launched OnePlus 10R 5G is available in two versions, one offers 80W fast charging while another offers 150W fast charging, and yes, the price of each version is different.

  • 8GB Ram + 128GB storage: Rs 38,999 (80W Version)
  • 12GB Ram + 256GB storage: Rs 42,999 (80W Version)
  • 12GB Ram + 256GB storage: Rs 43,999 (150W Version)

The Device is available in Sierra Black and Forest Green color option and it will go for sale on Amazon IN on 4th May 2022 at noon.

One More Thing, the OnePlus 10R 5G is a re-brand of the OnePlus Ace, both these phones are the same, OnePlus has just changed the name for the global launch.

OnePlus 10R Review

Yes, the OnePlus 10R 5G is worth buying but OnePlus is charging a premium, so it doesn’t make any sense to buy the OnePlus 10R 5G over RealMe GT Neo 3 5G which has the same specifications as the OnePlus 10R 5G, also OnePlus phones are now running on Color OS, so there is no difference between RealMe or OnePlus phones, so if you’re getting realme phones at the cheaper price then go for it because Oxygen OS doesn’t exist anymore.

We all know from the beginning, that most of the OnePlus phone has weak cameras and the same can be said for the OnePlus 10R 5G.

In short, don’t expect much from the cameras.

This time, OnePlus has gone with MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max processor which is close to Snapdragon 888 chipset, so there won’t be a huge problem with the performance.

Here comes the big part, the phone has a superfast 80W charging support but if you want that 150W fast charging then you have to buy the 12GB + 256GB variant which will cost you Rs 43,999 whereas, for the 80W variant, you will only need to pay Rs 38,999.

By the way, I feel, the 80W variant is good enough but the choice is all yours, if you feel that 150W is what I want then go for it.

This is an almost 40k smartphone and yet OnePlus has used plastic on the rear side which is not acceptable.

Overall, for the price of Rs 38999, OnePlus is charging a premium and I don’t think you should pay this amount of money for OnePlus because earlier they had OxygenOS, so it was kind of acceptable to pay a little bit of premium but now that OnePlus is using ColorOS, there is no single reason to pay extra money for OnePlus brand unless and until you love the OnePlus Logo.

Display Quality

OnePlus 10R 5G Review Image10

The OnePlus 10R comes with a 6.70-inches 10-bit 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels resolution and it’s protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The smartphone is bright enough to use outdoors, there won’t be any kind of problem while watching YouTube Videos or calling someone.

OnePlus has also added support for Widevine L1 which means, you will be able to stream FHD+ content on OTT platforms.

That 120Hz screen refresh rate helps a lot while using the UI or social media and also, MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max is a powerful processor and can handle the 120Hz refresh rate without any problem.

There is also an in-display fingerprint on the front which works great but again, this is an Optical sensor, so if your hands are wet then the fingerprint sensor won’t work.

Overall, the OnePlus has used a good quality display, you won’t face any kind of problem while using it in day-to-day life.

Performance

OnePlus 10R 5G Review

The MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max is a new processor from MediaTek and it will give a close performance to Snapdragon 888 SoC, so don’t worry about the performance.

Before we talk about the performance let me share one thing,

Qualcomm Charges a premium for their processor whereas Mediatek doesn’t change as much as Qualcomm, so here, I don’t know why OnePlus is charging a premium for the OnePlus 10R 5G?

Coming to the performance,

OnePlus has also added 9 5G bands, so whenever 5G launches in India, you will be able to use the 5G network.

The phone runs on OxygenOS 12.1-based on Android 12, OnePlus didn’t promise anything about the future update but going by the OnePlus record, the phone should get the Android 13 update.

Also, keep in mind, this is not OxygenOS which we use to use, this is ColorOS but OnePlus is calling it OxygenOS, just like how RealMe is calling their OS RealMe UI.

Most of the mobile game developers optimized their games for Qualcomm processors which we have seen in the past and the same is happening now too.

So if you’re that user who loves to play PUBG or any other battle royale games and if you buy the OnePlus 10R 5G then you have to wait for a couple of months to play mobile games at higher graphics.

As of now, the PUBG on the OnePlus 10R 5G only supports smooth at a high graphic which is not a good looks premium smartphone.

By the way, there won’t be any kind of problems in day-to-day life, the chipset is powerful enough to handle almost all the tasks but for gaming, you have to wait till the game developer optimized their game for MediaTek Processors.

Cameras

OnePlus 10R 5G Review Image04

OnePlus 10R 5G comes with a 50MP primary sensor + an 8MP ultra-wide lens + a 2MP macro sensor while there is a 16MP selfie shooter on the front. The rear cameras can shoot videos at [email protected], [email protected]/60fps while the front can shoot at only [email protected]

The primary sensor does have OIS but it only works in 1080p mode, it doesn’t work with 4K resolution.

Now, the OIS works fine, it will give the smooth videos at [email protected]/60fps but don’t expect the same at [email protected] Even with the videos, the sensor is providing good details but just like every single BBK electronic smartphone, it tries to boost the colors, so the footage or images won’t look at natural as they should.

For example, if you’re taking an image of the sky then you won’t get the same image, OnePlus will add extra blue color.

Under good lighting, the 50MP sensor captures a good image but when there is low light or taking images at night, the sensor doesn’t provide good images, it loses out on details and there is a lot of noise in images too.

I don’t think most of the users will complain about the saturated colors because as we have seen in the MKBHD blind camera test, people love the extra bright and punchier colors compared to natural ones.

Also that 8MP ultra-wide needs a little bit of improvement because, under low light, the sensor doesn’t provide good details. By the way, I feel as this is a 40k smartphone, OnePlus should have gone with 16MP ultra-wide lens because the ultra-wide lens capture a wide range of area, so it’s better to have a bigger sensor rather than a smaller sensor.

We’re leaving in 2022 and yet, mobile brands are giving 2MP sensors, so they can say, our smartphone has a triple & quad-camera setup. So yes, don’t expect anything from that 2MP macro sensor, it’s added, so the phone can look good, it doesn’t have any use case.

The 16MP front camera also takes good videos but sometimes, it messes out the dynamic range, and sometimes, it takes good videos, so it’s hit or miss.

The selfie also comes out very good, likewise, the selfies have whities color ton, other than that, I feel, you will like the front-facing camera, still, there is a lot to work on, one or two OTA updates can make the front camera better.

Overall, considering the price and the cameras, the OnePlus 10R 5G doesn’t have the best cameras under Rs 40000 in India, I mean, RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G takes better images than the OnePlus 10R 5G, and the fact that RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G (review) is available at 24,999 that speaks a lot.

Audio Quality

OnePlus 10R 5G Review Image11

The OnePlus 10R 5G has a stereo speaker which works fine, no issues there. Its dual speakers, so can’t complain much.

It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone. There is also carrier aggregation support which will help a lot in calling.

As this is a flagship smartphone, there is no 3.5mm audio jack. You can use the TWS earbuds or buy Type-C to 3.5mm dongle for wired earphones.

Here, you will be more than happy with the audio quality, and even call quality is also great.

Battery Life

OnePlus is offering two different versions of the OnePlus 10R 5G,

If you want that super fast 150W fast charging then you have to buy a 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and it will cost you Rs 43,999 this version has a 4,500 mAh battery.

There is also an 80W version variant which will cost you Rs 38,999 for 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and this variant has a 5,000 mAh battery.

  • 80W wired fast charging – 1 to 100% in 32 minutes
  • 150W wired fast charging – 1 to 100% in 17 minutes

Now, if you’re a heavy user then you will need to charge this smartphone two times a day.

Again, even if you manage to kill the full battery then you can always use the 80W or 150W charger.

Verdict

OnePlus 10R 5G Review Image03

OnePlus 10R 5G is a re-brand of RealMe GT Neo 3 5G (review) and you’re getting the RealMe GT Neo 3 5G at Rs 36,999 while the OnePlus 10R 5G at Rs 38999, so it doesn’t make any sense to buy the OnePlus 10R 5G over RealMe GT Neo 3 5G.

Reasons to Buy OnePlus 10R 5G?

The only reason why you should buy the OnePlus 10R 5G is because of its logo, so if you feel, I don’t want to buy any other brand other than OnePlus than the OnePlus 10R 5G is a good smartphone to consider.

Reasons to Not Buy OnePlus 10R 5G?

There are two main reasons why you should not buy the OnePlus 10R 5G, the first one is it’s an overpriced smartphone and the second is we have RealMe GT Neo 3 5G which is a re-brand of the OnePlus 10R, and its available at a cheaper price too.

Still, if you’re confused or have any kind of question then let me know in the comments, I would love to help you out…

What is the main difference between one plus 9r and one plus 10r? Which one to buy? If camera is the biggest factor behind purchase, then which phone to buy under 45k?

“Based on the looks OnePlus 10R is a little wired but this phone has good specs and it can give a good performance!
First, the 120 Hz Fluid OLED display is amazing because OLED is the best display in other devices too, also it gives the best quality viewing which doesn’t strain the eyes like the LCD displays. The Dimensity 8100-MAX CPU is as good as Snapdragon 888 when compared, it will give a smooth and good performance when it comes to apps, gaming, entertainment, etc, and also good for battery life because the phone will be smooth and don’t struggle so the battery will not drain fast! A 5,000 mAh Battery is a beast that will give enough power for more than 1.5 days, this battery is great and an 80W SUPERVOOC charger will charge the phone in 30 mins! As there are 2 different versions of battery the 80W charger is for 5000 mah battery and 150W charger is for 4500 mAh battery. One of the main specs of the phone is the Storage which is as usual 8GB/12GB Ram with 128GB/256GB storage, this is available for all the new phones but it is very effective. The Camera is great in OnePlus phones and in this model, it is better with the sony sensor and 16MP Front Camera, 50MP main camera, Ultra wide-angle with 8MP, and Marco Lens is included with 2MP which is not available in OP10 Pro! The In-display Fingerprint Sensor is great and it is added as usual for a flagship phone, Dual Stereo Speakers are also a plus for listening to music and watching videos. Overall for a price starting at 40K this phone is a good value for money compared to other flagship phones! The back of the phone looks wired as I said, so I might put on the skin from Gadgetshieldz cause they only have it now!”
