Samsung Galaxy A53 5G Review

Yes, Galaxy A53 5G is only worth buying, if you’re looking for a Samsung smartphone otherwise, we have tons of other options with better specs and better price tags, in short, Galaxy A53 5G is a great option for Samsung users but for those who can go for other brands, skip the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G.

There is no doubt, Galaxy A53 5G has great cameras, and that OIS also helps a lot but still, Samsung is charging a premium for its brand.

The phone also has a newly launched Exynos 1280 processor and it’s kind of close to Snapdragon 778 SoC, so there won’t be any issue with performance still, you can get Snapdragon 778 SoC in a 25k smartphone too.

Samsung has also promised 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates. By the way, the phone is running on OneUi 4.1 based on Android 12 which means, this phone will get updates up to Android 16 which is great for a mid-budget smartphone.

Overall, if you can pay an extra 5k for the Samsung brand then its a great option but if you don’t want to spend 35k and still, want the same performance then you can consider the OnePlus Nord 2 5G (review) or if you can go up to 40k then there is no better option then Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G.

Display Quality

When it comes to display, one can not complain about the Samsung display. The Galaxy A53 5G comes with a 6.5-inches sAMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 800 nits of pick brightness while it also has Widevine L1 support.

So there won’t be any kind of problems while using a smartphone outdoors, you will be able to watch YouTube videos or play games without any problem even under the sunlight.

That 120Hz refresh rate also helps a lot while using a smartphone in day-to-day life, everything feels smooth as it should.

As this is an A-series smartphone, Samsung didn’t compromise on the build too. The phone feels, premium in the hands and this is the reason why Samsung charges extra money for A series devices.

Overall, for the price of Rs 34,499, Samsung has done a great job. You won’t face any kind of problem while playing games or even watching movies.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is powered by a new 5nm Exynos 1280 SoC and it’s close to Snapdragon 778G SoC while the device runs on OneUi 4.1 based on Android 12.

Also, as I have said, Samsung has also promised 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates. By the way, the phone is running on OneUI 4.1 based on Android 12 which means, this phone will get updates up to Android 16 which is great for a mid-budget smartphone.

The Exynos 1280 SoC is powerful enough to handle a 120Hz refresh rate, so there won’t be any frame drop and lag while using the smartphone.

By the way, there won’t be any kind of problem while playing games, all the mobile games will work like butter.

It also has 5G support but Samsung didn’t mention the 5G bands, once come to know, I will update it right here.

Galaxy A53 5G has full One UI 4.1 support which means, you will be able to use all the features available on the Galaxy S22 series.

Overall, I would have loved this smartphone, if it was launched at 30k but still, for those who want the best Galaxy smartphone, this could be a good option to consider.

Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G comes with a 64MP primary sensor + a 12MP ultra-wide lens + 5MP depth + 5MP macro sensor while there is a 32MP selfie shooter on the front.

The rear camera can shoot videos at 4k@30fps, 1080p@30/60fps while the front can shoot at 4k@30fps & 1080p@30fps.

The 64MP primary sensor has OIS support, so it will help a lot while talking in video or even in photography.

The sensor is trying to capture natural colors which great thing, there is a little bit of saturation but it’s not too high.

Also, at night, Samsung has done a great job, The dedicated night mode helps a lot but still, there was some noise in the images.

By the way, don’t use the ultra-wide lens at night because, the images don’t come out great at night, the images are useable but still, try to use a 64MP primary sensor at night.

When it comes to daylight, Samsung has done a great job.

That 5MP + 5MP sensors are added for marketing, in short, don’t expect much. I would have loved to see, a telephoto lens instant of macro & depth sensor.

Coming to, a 32MP selfie shooter…

This is a bigger sensor but still, it doesn’t feel like it. Samsung needs to work on the front cameras. The images do come out good but still, I feel, it can get b better with some OTA updates.

By the way, the front camera has EIS support, so the videos won’t come out as good as a rear camera but the video footage is useable.

Overall, Samsung has done a great job in the camera department, if Samsung optimized the cameras a little bit then it can get better

Still, now, the cameras are good, the only thing is, the price tag, it’s not the best smartphone at 35k but it’s the best Samsung smartphone at 35k.

Audio Quality

Yes, it has a stereo speaker and it’s great, no complaints. There is also a secondary noise-cancellation microphone too which helps a lot in calling.

Now, if you’re that person who uses wired earphones then you have to buy a type-C to 3.5mm dongle because the phone doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack.

Overall, there won’t be any kind of issue with calling as well as audio, Samsung has done a great job this time.

Battery Life

Most of the smartphones at 35k come with either 120W or 65W fast charging support but Samsung decided to go with 25W wired charging support.

Fun fact, Samsung didn’t provide a charging adaptor in the box, so you have to buy it separately or use the one you have.

That 5,000 mAh battery will last for a day but in the end, it will depend on how you use the smartphone in day-to-day life.
