We have tons of Smartphones under Rs 30,000 in India and OnePlus Nord 2 5G is also one of them. Talking about OnePlus Nord 2 5G, three features makes OnePlus Nord 2 5G the best smartphone under 30k.
5G Bands
OnePlus Nord 2 comes with seven 5G bands which include NR NSA: N41, N78, N40 NR SA: N41, N78, N28A, N1, N3, and N40. This means, that whenever 5G comes to India, there is a possibility that the OnePlus Nord 2 5G will be able to take advantage of the 5G Network.
Do Note, that there is no update on the 5G launch in India. So for now, you can count 5G as a bonus feature, 5G may take more than a year. It’s good that OnePlus has added seven 5G bands.
Rear Cameras
The OnePlus Nord 2 5G features Sony IMX 766 50MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro sensor while there is a 32MP selfie shooter. The rear camera can record video up to [email protected] while the front can shoot up to [email protected], it also has OIS which gives an extra advantage while shooting videos.
OIS is rare below the 30k price tag but OnePlus has added the OIS on OnePlus Nord 2 5G.
Also, by far, the phone has the best rear camera under a 30k price tag because OnePlus had used a flagship sensor that was already optimized for OnePlus 9 Series devices.
When it comes to the front camera, the device doesn’t provide the best image quality. So if you’re a selfie lover then you can take look at OPPO Reno 6 5G (read review).
Overall, OnePlus Nord 2 5G has the best rear camera but can’t say the same for the front camera.
OS
The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and runs on Oxygen OS 11.3-based on Android 11.
Oxygen OS 11.3 integrates the Color OS into the OnePlus devices. For now, OnePlus added the entire settings menu, Camera UI, and floating widgets from Color OS.
Overall, for now, we don’t have ads in Oxygen OS. If they do, I will add it right here and remove this section.
That was the goodies, now talk about things I didn’t like about OnePlus Nord 2 5G, let’s call it cons.
What I didn’t like about OnePlus Nord 2 5G
Let’s start with the front camera,
The device has a 32MP selfie shooter which means, it should take the best images but that’s not the case. The image turned out soft and white because of this, you won’t get the natural images.
In short, if you’re with saturated colors & soft images then you won’t complain about the front camera. If you ask me, I don’t like Saturated colors or bright images.
As I have said, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G comes with Color OS, not literary. So if you’re that person, who are using OnePlus smartphones for while then you might not like how, Oxygen OS looks on Nord 2 5G.
As time goes by, we might see the entire new Oxygen OS.
Also, as I have already told you, the phone doesn’t have a 3.5mm Audio jack, or SD-card slot, and the frame is made out of plastic.
By the way, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G does have Widevine L1 support which means the device can stream FHD+ content on the OTT platform but for some reason, I wasn’t able to stream FHD+ content on Netflix while I didn’t have any problem with Prime Video.
This problem can be fixed by an OTA update but when? no one knows.
Should you Buy OnePlus Nord 2 5G?
If the rear camera is your highest priority and if you want a true 5G smartphone then yes, OnePlus Nord 2 5G would be a good option for you.
If I had to buy a new smartphone under Rs 30,000 right now then I would go with the POCO F3 GT 5G. The rear cameras on the POCO F3 GT are not as good as OnePlus Nord 2 but everything else is better on the POCO F3 GT.
Again, OnePlus has changed, it’s not the same brand as it uses to be. Think twice before you buy a OnePlus phone because most people will buy the OnePlus devices because of Oxygen OS but what if, there is no Oxygen OS after year?
I will end this post by saying, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G is not the best smartphone available for Rs 30,000 in India.
Verdict: Not for everyone?
