RealMe GT Neo 5G Review

Yes, RealMe GT Neo 2 is worth buying, it has almost everything that users wanted including a good camera setup along with powerful Snapdragon 870 SoC. The battery life is good and it can be charged fully in only 36 minutes. Overall, RealMe GT Neo 2 is worth looking at and its value for money device.

The device does have its Pros and Cons but even after that, the phone offers good value. Still, if you wanted the perfect smartphone then you will be disappointed because there is no perfect product available in this world.

Overall, the RealMe GT Neo 2 will provide solid battery life, the cameras are good but still, it needs to be optimized. Also, there won’t be any issue with performance, the Snapdragon 870 SoC will provide the best performance.

Talking about the display, it has a 6.67-inches 120Hz display with a pick brightness of 1300 nits. So you don’t have to worry about the display.

In short, RealMe GT Neo 2 is a good option to look at.

Powerful Snapdragon 870 SoC Ads in the UI
NFC Support

Those were the Pros and Cons of RealMe GT Neo 2, now let’s go deep down and find out what new RealMe has to offer this time.

RealMe GT Neo 2 Display Quality

RealMe GT Neo 2 comes with a 6.67-inches 120Hz sAMOLED display with pick brightness of 1300 nits and HDR10+ support. Also, it does have WideVine L1 Support which means, there won’t be any issue while watching FHD+ content on OTT apps.

As I have said, it has a pick brightness of 1300 nits that means, there won’t be any kind of problem while using the RealMe GT Neo 2 outdoor, the screen will be visible to do all kinds of tasks whether playing games or watching movies or making video calls.

On the front side, the device has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 but RealMe didn’t mention what kind of protection is used on the backside while the frame is made out of plastic.

The phone does feel, premium because of that glass back but I feel, as this is a 32k smartphone, the frame should have been aluminium.

Overall, considering the price tag, there is nothing to complain about the display. It has everything that you will need to play games or to watch movies.

RealMe GT Neo 2 Cameras

RealMe GT Neo 2 has 64MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro rear camera while there is a 16MP selfie shooter. The rear camera can shoot videos up to 4k@60fps while the front can shoot up to 1080p@30fps.

The phone doesn’t have OIS support that means, the video footage will come out shaky. Now, RealMe has added EIS support but that is all software, so take EIS as a software feature.

As this is a 32k smartphone, RealMe should have added OIS but RealMe hasn’t added OIS in flagship RealMe GT 5G (review), so can’t expect OIS in Neo.

Coming to the 64MP primary sensor, RealMe didn’t mention which sensor they have used but as per some reports, RealMe has used the Samsung ISOCELL GW1 sensor.

Like any other RealMe smartphone, it tries to saturate the colours, so if you like pop-out colours then you will be more than happy but if you want close to natural images then, you might be disappointed.

Now, RealMe has added Pro mode within the stock camera app, so you can play around with settings but most of the users, won’t use the Pro mode all the time.

In short, RealMe needs to optimize the camera and I feel, one or two OTA updates can fix this problem.

The 16MP ultra-wide lens also does the same thing. Also, the ultra-wide lens tires soften the images which are okay because this is what most of the smartphones around 32k are doing.

By the way, don’t ever use the ultra-wide at night or under the low lights because you will lose out on details and images will come out with lots of noise.

So if you want to take images at night, always go for the primary lens rather than changing to ultra-wide.

That 2MP macro lens is for marketing, so ignore the third sensor.

Coming to a 16MP front camera, here I feel, RealMe has done a good job because I didn’t expected anything from a selfie shooter. It looks like, RealMe has worked on the front camera.

So if you love to take lots of Selfies then you will be happy with the front camera and I wish, I could say the same for Rear cameras.

Overall, RealMe GT Neo 2 has above average camera and it can become above good if RealMe improves the camera with an OTA update. Now, I can’t comment on future updates, so as of now, the Cameras doesn’t justify the 32k price tag.

RealMe GT Neo 2 Performance

RealMe GT Neo 2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC and it’s running on RealMe UI 2.0 based on Android 11. As per a recent update by RealMe, the RealMe GT Series will get RealMe UI 3.0-Android 12 updates.

Now, we have seen the Snapdragon 870 SoC in quite of few smartphones and all the smartphones performed very well and RealMe GT Neo 2 is doing the same.

So don’t worry about the performance, whether you want to play games or do any kind of work, you won’t face any problems.

Also, Snapdragon 870 Soc is battery efficient processor, so you will get better battery life compared to any other chipset even better than Snapdragon 888 SoC.

RealMe GT Neo 2 has almost 8 5G bands which mean, this device will be able to take advantage of the 5G network, whenever 5G launches in India.

Also, RealMe UI 2.0 is well-optimized but the UI does come out quite of a few pre-installed apps which is not a good user experience.

Overall, expect a powerful performance from RealMe GT Neo 2.

RealMe GT 2 Neo Audio Quality

The phone has two microphones that mean, there won’t be any problem while taking calls and also, it does have stereo speakers that means, even in a public space, you will be able to hear the music.

All in all, the speakers quality is superb and no issue with calling too. Also, the RealMe GT Neo 2 does have carrier aggregation.

RealMe GT Neo 2 Battery Life

The RealMe GT Neo 2 comes with a 5,000 mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. As I have said, the Snapdragon 870 Soc is battery efficient processor, so don’t worry about the battery life.

By the way, the phone will give about day battery life but if you’re a casual user then expect the battery to last for 1.5 days.

Also, the phone support 65W fast charging, so there won’t any issue, 36 minutes of charging will provide 100% battery.

Again, the battery life depends on users by users, so if you play games for six or seven hours then you have to keep the charger with you all the time. On the other hand, you don’t play games then the battery should last for two days too.

Verdict

If you want the overall best smartphone and if your budget is about 32k then RealMe GT Neo 2 is worth buying but if you want the best cameras then you also take look at the OnePlus Nord 2 5G.

Still, I feel, if the RealMe Gt Neo 2 was launched at 30k then it would have been a killer smartphone. Now, even at 32k, it’s good to buy but RealMe needs to work on cameras.
