Galaxy A22 5G review

Samsung is back another A-series smartphone, the Galaxy A22 5G powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. Samsung has also included 11 5G bands which are the most in any smartphone, so now, this can be called a 5G smartphone.

By the way, the Galaxy A22 5G is not for everyone that said, let’s start the review and see, who should waste Rs 19,999 on Galaxy A22 5G.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G Review

The Galaxy A22 5G would have been the best smartphone but as this is a Samsung smartphone, can’t expect everything. It has a TFT display while the cameras are also decent but it has MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC and because of that, Samsung can add 11 5G Bands. Overall, if you wanted only a Samsung smartphone then this is the best option.

Display Quality

Samsung is known for AMOLED display but they didn’t use AMOLED penal on Galaxy A22 5G. It has a 6.60-inches 90Hz TFT display.

There is nothing wrong with the TFT display but this is Rs 19,999 smartphone and at this price, it’s not acceptable.

Samsung didn’t even mention which glass they used to protect the front side while there is a plastic back and plastic frame.

The device does have Widevine L1 support which means you will be able to watch FHD+ content on the OTT platform. Also, there won’t be any problem using a smartphone under the sunlight.

As the phone has a TFT display, it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Overall, considering the price tag, Galaxy A22 5G doesn’t have a good display quality. Samsung should have gone with an AMOLED display but still, if you wanted to buy a Samsung phone then this is the best option.

Cameras

Just like the display, the same can be said for the camera too, considering the price tag, the Galaxy A22 5G doesn’t have the best camera at a 20k price tag.

It has a 48MP primary sensor, 5MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro sensor while there is an 8MP selfie shooter, The rear camera can shoot video at 1080p@60fps while the front can record video up to 1080p@30fps.

Don’t expect the camera to be the best, the same camera quality can be found for under Rs 15,000 smartphone.

The 48MP camera sensor takes some good images under good lights but when it comes to low lights, the sensor suffers also and this is where it loses out on details, even night mode doesn’t give the best images.

This is the same case with 5MP ultra-wide lens, when there is good lighting, the sensor does perform well. By the way, don’t use the ultra-wide lens at night because you will be disappointed. Now, let’s just forget that the device has a 2MP macro lens.

Coming to the 8MP selfie shooter, if you love soft selfies then you will love the 8MP front camera as it’s far far away from natural colors.

The Galaxy A22 5G doesn’t have EIS or OIS, so don’t expect the videos to be stable.

In short, the Galaxy A22 5G doesn’t provide good quality images and it doesn’t qualify to be a 20k smartphone with this kind of camera.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 and running on OneUI Core 3.1-based on Android 11.

As you can tell, this is a 5G smartphone and this is a true 5G smartphone because it has eleven 5G bands which include N1(2100), N3(1800), N5(850), N7(2600), N8(900), N20(800), N28(700), N38(2600), N40(2300), N41(2500), N78(3500), N79(4500).

So yes, if you wanted a 5G smartphone then this is the best option available in INDIA at this movement.

We have seen MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC in RealMe 8 5G, POCO M3 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 10T 5G and many more and one thing I have noticed is, the processor is battery efficient.

There won’t be any kind of problem while playing games, the chipset can handle almost every single which is available in Play Store. Also, the device is running on OneUI Core which is an optimized budget smartphone.

Overall, Samsung has put their money in 5G and processor and that’s why, the phone doesn’t have a good camera, good build and good display quality.

Battery and Audio Quality

As I have said, the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC and is the reason, this device will give better battery life than any other smartphone. The Galaxy A22 5G has a 5,000 mAa battery with 15W fast charging support.

As You have noticed, most of the Samsung’s budget smartphone has 6,000 mAH battery but this comes with 5,000 mAh battery. Also, 15W fast charging is not a great option considering the price tag.

The device has a single bottom-firing speaker which is loud but not as good as stereo speakers. By the way, the Galaxy A22 5G does have a 3.5mm Audio jack.

Conclusion: Buy or Not?

No, Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is not worth buying because it doesn’t justify the Rs 19,999 price tag. The device has a decent camera, it’s made out of plastic while the display is TFT. In short, if you wanted to buy a new Samsung branded phone then yes, the Galaxy A22 5G is worth looking at.

Galaxy A22 5G Advantages

The Galaxy A22 5G comes with Eleven 5G bands which is the most in any smartphone while it has MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC which is a decent processor at a 24k price tag.

Galaxy A22 5G Disadvantages

The Galaxy A22 5G does have 11 5G bands but apart from that, there is nothing good about this phone. The device has a decent camera, plastic build, TFT display, only 15W charging support and it overpriced smartphone.
