Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite Review with Pros and Cons
Amazon dominates the streaming stick market in India as there are not many options available and most of the people don’t trust other brands. Xiaomi has Mi stick and Mi box which runs on Android but this doesn’t support certain apps and that’s why people prefer Fire TV stick over Mi Stick.
Recently, Amazon has launched all-new Fire TV stick 2020 and all-new Fire TV Stick Lite. Both of this Stick has the same specifications yet the price for each product is a bit different. Today, I’m about to review the Fire TV Stick Lite, so let’s see whether Fire TV Stick Lite justify the Rs 2,999 price tag or not?

UI and Interface
Amazon is using this same UI for years now and this work best for most of the people as this is simple to use but it’s kind of old now and Amazon needs to change it. Looks like, Amazon heard it and they did change the UI which will be out for Fire Stick TV 2020 and Fire TV Stick lite at the end of December 2020.
If you have old Fire TV or Fire TV 4k then it will be out between Jan-Fab 2021.
About a month ago, Amazon added a live page to Fire TV which has all the Live channels in one place. This is the best thing to have in the streaming stick as most of the people in India watches daily shop. One thing to note here, you have to have subscriptions for all the for the channel you want to watch.
For example, if you want to see Colors channel then you must have VOOT subscriptions which costs Rs 499 for year.
As of now, I haven’t get new UI update, right now, I’m using old UI.
From here, the first thing you see on Fire TV Stick Lite is Home Screen, Live Guide Menu, TV show Menu, Movies Menu, APP store and setting menu.
I have added some UI images above. It looks like Amazon has integrated Prime videos in all tabs. Whatever you see, there will be Prime Videos and I get it, this is Amazon Product but still, they can’t just put their product everywhere.
Fire TV Stick Lite is in favour of Amazon rather than other OTT platform. Overall, I don’t have any problem with that but it’s there. UI also looks great and it has all the OTT apps that you can think of, so there won’t be anything to complain about the app library.
Performance
The Fire TV Lite has 1GB of Ram and 8GB of Storage which is enough for all the OTT apps and to play some games. Everything will work like butter, so there won’t be any problem in performance. It has Quad-core 1.7 GHz processor and IMG GE8300 GPU inside.
Fire TV Lite also supports Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital+, Dolby Atmos but you have to use HDMI audio cable which is included in the box. The stick can stream videos in HDR 10, HDR10+ [email protected] which is good considering the price tag.
I’m using Fire TV lite for while now and I haven’t face any problem yet, it’s working fine. I have also used all-new Fire TV 2020 and here, I didn’t any difference in performance on each lite and non-lite version.
One thing to note here, Fire TV Stick Lite remote doesn’t have volume UP/Down, Power ON/OFF or Mute button and that’s why this is priced at 3k while Fire TV Stick 2020 is priced at 4k in India.
To control volume UP/Down, you have to use a TV remote and I’m too using a TV remote and I haven’t had any problem. Bottom line, if you want those extra buttons then you have to spend extra Rs 1,000 and get Fire TV Stick 2020 or just save Rs 1,000 and buy Lite version.
Overall, both of these stick will give the best performance.
