Redmi 11 Prime 5G Review

Earlier POCO use to re-brand of Redmi Phone but the wheels have turned around and just now, Redmi has re-brand the POCO M4 5G.

Yes, the Redmi 11 Prime 5G is a re-brand of POCO M4 5G.

Redmi 11 Prime 5G Price in India

Redmi 11 Prime 5G price in India starts from Rs 13,999 for 4GB of Ram and 64GB storage while 6GB of Ram and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 15,999. The device is available in Meadow Green, Chrome Silver, and Thunder Black color options and it will go for sale on 9th September 2022 at noon via Amazon and Mi Website.

Redmi 11 Prime 5G Review

No, Redmi 11 Prime 5G is not worth buying because its a re-brand of POCO M4 5G while POCO M4 5G is available at Rs 12999 and Redmi 11 Prime is available at Rs 13999, so it doesn’t make any sense to pay a premium just because it’s from Redmi.

Not only Redmi 11 Prime 5G, but Redmi has also rebranded another POCO Phone too. The Redmi 11 Prime 4G is a rebrand of POCO M5 4G.

Xiaomi is just rebranding its own smartphone and making a profit out of it.

The person buying a smartphone from a local store won’t know what’s inside the smartphone, so yes, it’s high time, brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo stop this rebranding game and focus more on quality rather than quantity…

To put it simply, if you wanted to buy a 5G smartphone for under Rs 15000 then do consider the POCO M4 5G over Redmi 11 Prime 5G.

Redmi 11 Prime 5G: Display

The Redmi 11 Prime 5G comes with a 90Hz 1.58-inches LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and 400 nits pick brightness and 401 PPI density.

The device has a plastic back, the front is protected with Gorilla Glass 3 and the frame is also made out of plastic.

The 400 nits brightness is not good at all, sometimes it gets a bit hard to read the text under the sunlight.

Redmi should have provided the 700 nits brightness because this is Rs 14000 smartphone. It also has the same old waterdrop notch display which doesn’t look good at all, again, a punch hole display would have been better.

Also, as the phone has an LCD display, Redmi has added a side-mounted fingerprint sensor which works well.

Overall, the display could have been better.

Redmi 11 Prime 5G: Performance

MediaTek Dimensity 700 is a well-optimized processor, so there is nothing to worry about performance, you will be able to play games like Apex Legends, COD Mobile, or even BGMI without any problems at 40fps.

The Redmi 11 Prime 5G runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 12. The Redmi didn’t promise any future updates but going by the Redmi record, the device should get MIUI 14, not sure about Android 13.

As this is a Redmi smartphone, it comes with lots of pre-installed third-party apps which can be uninstalled while the device also has some ads in Xiaomi’s stock applications.

Redmi has added 7 5G bands which include N1, n3, n5, n8, n28, n40, and n78. This means you will be able to take advantage of the 5G network whenever it launches in your city.

Overall, the MediaTek Dimensity 700 is an excellent processor but Redmi is charging Rs 1000 extra. So I would say it again, consider the POCO M4 5G over Redmi 11 Prime 5G

Redmi 11 Prime 5G: Cameras

The camera is my favorite topic when I review smartphones but this time, I will hold my words…

The Redmi 11 Prime 5G comes with a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor while there is an 8MP selfie shooter on the front. Both the rear as well as front cameras can shoot videos at 1080p@30fps.

Now, let’s just ignore the 2MP depth sensor and talk about the 50MP primary sensor,

The Redmi 11 Prime 5G is priced at Rs 13,999 but the camera feels like an Rs 8000 smartphone.

Even under the good lighting, the images didn’t give accurate details, The 50MP sensor was trying to add white colors more and more, and because of that, the details got lost.

The saturation was also there.

Now, don’t get started on night images, they’re just straight-up garbage. You won’t even feel like posting them on social media.

Back to the 8MP front camera,

This sensor also does the same thing, it tries to add white colors, so yes, you will look more white and a bit colorful as well.

In short, you will be disappointed with the rear as well as front cameras because Redmi has put all of their money on processor, so they didn’t work on cameras.

In a single line, Redmi 11 Prime has three sensors but non of them are useful.

Redmi 11 Prime 5G: Audio

Another cost-cutting, the phone has a single speaker and there is no No Secondary Noise Cancel Microphone.

The single speaker is good but it’s not very good, it’s not a loudspeaker and the clarity is also not that great.

The device does have Carrier Aggregation support which will help a lot in calling.

By the way, the device does have a 3.5mm audio jack along with a dedicated micro-SD card slot.

Redmi 11 Prime 5G: Battery

The Redmi 11 Prime 5G comes with a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support and yes, the 18W charger is supplied in the box.

Again, I have to say, this is Rs 14000 smartphone and yet, Redmi has only provided an 18W charging speed which is not acceptable at all. The device will take 1.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%.

The battery will easily last for the day because of the processor. It also depends on your usage, what kind of apps or games you play.
