RealMe 8s 5G Review with Pros and Cons – Save Money

RealMe 8s 5G Review

RealMe 8s 5G Review

RealMe has just added a new smartphone under the RealMe 8 Series. The RealMe 8s 5G is powered by all-new MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G (6 nm) and comes with 7 5G bands.

The phone does have its Pros and Cons but ever after that, RealMe 8s 5G is an overpriced smartphone. Looks like RealMe is betting on a 5G network rather than other specs.

RealMe 8s 5G Review

RealMe is charging extra money for a 5G network, we do have others phones at an 18k price tag with a better camera and chipset. So it doesn’t make any sense to buy RealMe 8s 5G at Rs 17,999 just because it supports 5G.

As I have said earlier, 5G is not real in India and no one knows when 5G will available for everyone in India. So it’s better to buy the best 4G smartphone rather than a decent 5G smartphone.

By the way, RealMe 8s 5G is not a bad smartphone but it is priced at 18k which is not the perfect price. It should have launched at around Rs 14,999 or Rs 15,499.

At Rs 17,999, you can take look at Redmi Note 10 Pro (review) or Moto G60 or even POCO X3 Pro (review). Still, if you want a 5G smartphone then you can also take look at RealMe Narzo 30 Pro which is priced at Rs 14,999.

RealMe 8s 5G Pros and Cons

Powerful MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoCUnspecified Display Protection
Good Battery LifeOverpriced
3.5mm Audio JackNo Stereo Speakers
No Carrier Aggregation
LCD Display
Only 90Hz Refresh Rate

These were the Pros and Cons of RealMe 8s 5G. Now let’s dive into the smartphone and find out whether you should spend Rs 17,999 on RealMe 8s 5G or not?

RealMe 8s 5G Display Quality

RealMe 8s 5G comes with a 6.50-inches FHD+ 90Hz LCD and has 600 nits of pick brightness. The phone also has wide vine L1 support that means, you will be able to watch FHD+ content on OTT apps.

Now, Realme didn’t mention what kind of glass they have used on the front side while it has a plastic back and frame.

Talking about display quality, RealMe has provided good quality LCD panel and there won’t be any kind of problem while watching movies or playing games.

As this is an 18k smartphone, it should have had a 120Hz refresh rate but look like, RealMe has done cost-cutting here.

Overall, the phone will be visible under the sunlight and you won’t face any kind of problem while using RealMe 8s 5G outdoors.

RealMe 8s 5G Cameras

Let’s go with a single rear camera setup, ohh, RealMe 8s 5G has 64MP primary sensor, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor while there is a 16MP selfie shooter.

Both the rear and front cameras can shoot videos up to 1080p@30fps. Of course, 4k or even 1080p@60fps would have been a good option but looks like, RealMe forget to add that option.

As this is a RealMe smartphone, they have provided quite of few filters which can be used from the stock camera app. Personally, I don’t like to use those filters but if you want, just open the RealMe Camera app and go to More.

As I have said, just ignore the 2MP + 2MP sensors, they are added to make-up numbers and that’s it.

Coming to a 64MP sensor, the sensor takes some good quality images. The details are good, dynamic range is also great but it tries to saturate the colours a little bit.

Now, let’s talk about price, the RealMe 8s 5G is priced at Rs 17,999 and this price, the phone doesn’t have the best cameras. It should have been the best camera phone if RealMe has launched this phone at around a 14k price tag.

No doubt, the Rear camera is good but it doesn’t justify the 18k price tag.

Talking about the 16MP selfie shooter, this is not the worst selfie camera but, it’s a bad front camera available at an 18k price tag. I mean, you can get the same image quality with the front camera on a 10k smartphone.

Also, the RealMe 8s 5G doesn’t have OIS, it uses the EIS. Overall, the video footage will come out shaky.

Overall, RealMe 8s 5G doesn’t have the best camera and it doesn’t justify the 18k price tag. An ultra-wide lens would have been an option rather than extra 2+2MP sensors.

In short, RealMe 8s 5G is just a 5G smartphone and that’s it.

RealMe 8s 5G Performance

The RealMe 8s 5G is powered by all-new MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G (6 nm) and running on RealMe UI 2.0-based on Android 11.

If you’re from India then you will know, mobile brands launches two are three smartphones every month and this is what MediaTek has done here.

There is no huge jump from MediaTek Dimensity 800, it’s just new Soc. By the way, MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G (6 nm) is a good SoC but it can’t be called an upgrade.

If you’re a gamer who wants to buy the best gaming smartphone then go for POCO X3 Pro. Now, if you want a 5G phone with decent performance then RealMe 8s 5G could be a good option.

By the way, there won’t be any problem while playing games like BGMI, and COD Mobile.

Also, the phone has 7 5G bands which are a good option.

In short, you won’t face any problems while using RealMe 8s 5G. Whether you’re playing the game or swiping Reals on Instagram.

RealMe 8s 5G Battery Life

RealMe 8s 5G comes with a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The MediaTek Dimensity 810 is battery efficient processor, so, the battery will last longer.

If you’re a heavy user then might have to charge RealMe 8s 5G at around 6 PM but if you’re a casual user then it will last for a day without any issue.

Also, that 33W charger will help.

RealMe 8s 5G Audio Quality

Most of the smartphones around the 18k price tag have Stereo Speakers but the same can’t be said for RealMe 8s 5G.

It has a single bottom-firing speaker which is loud but you will miss that Stereo Speaker if you have used any before.

The phone also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone which will help during calls.

Overall, the audio quality is decent but there won’t be any problem while receiving calls.
