Love to read books, check out BookiesTalk where you can read books for free. You will also get to download PDFs for Free and some book recommendations too. So, see you there.

Redmi K20 Review: Quick Specifications

The Redmi K20 is powered by 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 soc which is built on 8 nm technology with Adreno 618 GPU inside and 2×2.2 GHz Kryo 470 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 470 CPU. The Redmi K20 is running on MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 (Pie) and yes it will get Android Q very soon as per Redmi India.

The Redmi K20 comes with a triple rear camera setup featuring a 48-megapixel primary sensor with F/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with F/2.4 aperture, and a 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor with F/2.4 aperture. On the front side, it has a 20-megapixel motorized pop-up selfie camera setup with the F/2.2 camera setup.

Coming to the display, the smartphone has a 6.39-inches Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2340, the handset is protected with gorilla glass 5 protection on the front as well as on the rear side. It is packed with a 4,000 mAh non-removable battery with 18W fast charging support.

The Redmi K20 is available in Carbon black, Red flame, and Glacier blue color variants. It will go on sale via Flipkart In and Xiaomi website on 5th August 2018 at noon.

Redmi K20 Review: Design & Display Quality

The smartphone has a glass unibody and as I said earlier whenever you buy a glass unibody smartphone you must need to use a back cover, yes the Redmi K20 has gorilla glass 5 protection on the rear side but still, the glass is going to be glass. Overall, the smartphone has a good built quality and must say you are getting the design and built quality at a mid-budget price range.

Talking about the design, for the first we have seen a fire & ice kind of design in a smartphone. By the way, the handset comes with Carbon black, Red flame, and Glacier blue color variant, and the good thing is all the color variant is available for sale.

Overall the smartphone best build & design at the best price point. (I gonna talk about pricing later in this article)

Coming to the display quality, 6.39-inches Full HD+ AMOLED display which means the picture quality is going to be great. I have used Redmi K20 in extreme sunlight and surprisingly the display is quite visible under sunlight, and the viewing angles are also totally fine.

The smartphone has a pop-up selfie camera setup and because of that Redmi manage to get an 86.1% screen-to-body ratio. So if you are one of those people who watch movies & tv shows on a mobile phone then this smartphone will give a great experience due to the full-view display panel.

In short, I haven’t found any issue in display quality but if anything happened then it will be updated here.

Redmi K20 Review: Performance & Price

The Redmi K20 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 soc which is built on 8 nm technology with Adreno 618 GPU inside and 2×2.2 GHz Kryo 470 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 470 CPU.

After the launch of this device & price, most people are comparing Redmi K20 with RealMe X (Review) but you know need to know RealMe X is powered by Snapdragon 710 which is built on 10 nm technology, on the other hand, Redmi K20 is powered by 730 (8 nm) soc. So you can’t compare those two chipsets because both are different from each other.

I know the price for the Redmi K20 base variant is a little bit higher but you need to see what Redmi is offering you at Rs 21,999. The smartphone triple rear-facing camera setup, a pop-up selfie camera setup, a 4,000 mAh battery, 730 chipsets, and much more.

If people are buying Samsung Galaxy M40 at Rs 19,990 all tho it has Snapdragon 675 then, of course, you are getting much better specifications than the Galaxy M40 in Redmi K20.

Talking about performance, if you have used Snapdragon 710 then you gonna love this device because with snapdragon 730 Qualcomm has increased the performance in GPU as well as in CPU.

We have played games like Fortnite, PUBG, Asphalt 9, Modern Combat 5, and many others and for now, the smartphone is running well and I haven’t faced any issues in the gaming department.

In short, if you are paying Rs 21,999 for Redmi K20 then it will be worth it. And yes Snapdragon 730 has a better CPU as compared to Snapdragon 845 which will be better performance in day-to-day uses but yes gaming will be better in 845 soc because it has Adreno 630 GPU & 730 chipsets has 618 GPU inside.

Redmi K20 Review: Cameras

The Redmi K20 comes with a 48-megapixel primary sensor with F/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with F/2.4 aperture, and a 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor with F/2.4 aperture. The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro have the same camera setup with the same sensors which means camera performance will be quite the same.

Talking about camera performance, in typing daylight conditions the Redmi k20 takes some awesome pictures and photos come out well. But one thing I have noticed is, that when you take photos in good lighting conditions, the pictures come out a little bit Sharp and it does not feel like a natural photo.

This is what we have seen in MKBHD aka Marques K. Brownlee blind camera test. Now I just want to use the Google camera app in Redmi K20 because we have seen in the past how camera quality changes in GCam.

When the camera tries to sharpen the picture quality then, of course, the background color highlight will disappear and the photos will turn out overexposed. And the matter fact is most people like overexposed images more than natural photos and because of that most of the company are not doing what Google is doing with Pixel devices.

But yes the 48-megapixel camera mode turns off well as compared to Redmi Note 7 Pro’s 48-megapixel sensor. The Redmi K20 also has the night mode feature and because of that mode camera quality will increase in low lighting conditions.

The smartphone also has a 960fps slow-motion option and frankly speaking it’s the worst thing you can use in a smartphone because it’s implemented via software. It’s not even a little bit close to Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.

The Redmi K20 cameras can shoot a video in 4K resolution but stabilization is not that great in 4K. So if you want to shoot video then always use 1080p@60 fps and you will get image stabilization.

Overall Redmi K20 has decent camera quality and it can be improved via an OTA update, considering the price point Redmi needs to improve the camera quality.

Redmi K20 Review: Battery

It is packed with a 4,000 mAh non-removable battery with 18W fast charging support but as always Redmi has not given an 18W charger in the box which means you need to spend Rs 500 to buy an 18W charger.

In short words, the battery will last for the whole day.

Note Battery life will depend on your daily uses like what kind of games you are playing, how much time you spend on your mobile phone etc.

Redmi K20 Review: Conclusion

The Redmi K20 has Snapdragon 730 soc, triple rear camera setup, motorized pop-up selfie camera setup, 4,000 mAh battery, glass unibody, 7th-gen in-display fingerprint sensor, and all the things you are getting it for Rs 21,999.

I Know the Price is 2 thousand higher but I think it’s worth it, so you can buy this device, yes if you can’t spend 22k on a smartphone then you can take a look at RealMe X.
