JioPhone Next Review With Pros and Cons – Don’t buy

I was waiting for Jio Phone Next for a long time but now, after its launch, I’m not that excited. Reliance is known for making things cheaper but with JioPhone Next, that changes.

There is no doubt, JioPhone Next is an overpriced smartphone. Also, it’s not built for everyone but again, that Rs 6,499 price tag is not justifiable.

JioPhone Next Price in India

JioPhone Next is priced at Rs 6,499 for 2GB of Ram and 32GB storage.

Now, if you want to buy JioPhone Next with EMI then first you have to pay Rs 1,999 + 501 processing fee and after that, you can choose the EMI Plan.

EMI starts from Rs 300 From which you will get 5GB of monthly data + 100 minutes/month.

300 × 24 = Rs 7200 + Rs 2,500 (including Rs 501 processing fee)

In short, you will pay Rs 9,700 with starting EMI option

Also, if you pick a different plan for EMI then you have to pay extra money every month. For example, if you choose Rs 500 plan then you will pay in total Rs 13,300.

Is It Worth Buying JioPhone Next?

No, JioPhone Next is not worth buying because it’s an overpriced smartphone along with that, Jio has added a locked-in system which means, you can’t use the internet from any other network provider. In short, JioPhone Next would have been a better option at 3,500 but now at Rs 6,499, it’s not worth the price.

JioPhone Next Compromises

First thing first, you won’t able to use the internet from any other network provider. You have to use a Jio SIM card to access the internet.

Also, if you choose to buy JioPhone Next with EMI then you have to pay EMI every month and if you miss EMI then JioPhone Next will be locked. In short, you won’t able to use the device if you miss EMI.

This is like, locking you in the Jio system. If you don’t like to be the Jio system then you can also pay the full amount but again, you have to use Jio SIM for the internet.

One way or another, you have to use Jio SIM forever.

JioPhone Next is running on Android GO but hey, as Reliance is working with Google, they just change the name from Android GO to Pragati OS.

To give you a clear idea, it’s the same as RealMe UI, we all know, it’s Color OS but RealMe is like, no it’s not.

Reliance has said, we have worked with Google to make Pragati OS smoother the ever but that’s not the case. It’s as leggy as it can get, there are lots of frame drops while switching between apps.

In short, Reliance or Google needs to work on OS otherwise, it’s just another overpriced smartphone, nothing else.

What’s inside JioPhone Next

JioPhone Next comes with a 5.45-inches HD+ LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. It’s decent display penal, don’t expect the quality to be like a 7k smartphone.

It also has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera setup. Also, the phone comes with GCam which has tons of features along with Snapchat filters.

There is a removable 3,500 mAh battery with 5W charging support. For charging, it has a micro-USB port along with a 3.5mm audio jack.

As I have said, its runs on Pragati OS while it’s powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon QM215 chipset.

It’s available in 2GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB EMMC3 storage.

Now let me just copy two lines from Jio Website,

• One SIM is PLMN Locked to Jio
• Mobile data connectivity available only on Jio SIM

Yes, that’s true, you can’t use any other network provider for the internet and also, SIM 1 is locked to JIO.

Verdict

As I said, don’t buy JioPhone Next, it doesn’t justify the Rs 6,499 price tag. Reliance is charging around Rs 2,500 extra for nothing. So save your money and if you want to buy a good smartphone then do the look at Rs Redmi 9A which is priced at Rs 6,999 or click here for the best smartphone under Rs 10,000.
