IQOO Z6 5G Review with Pros and Cons – Budget Gaming?

IQOO Z6 5G Review

IQOO Z6 5G

IQOO is a sub-brand of Vivo and these days, most of the mobile brands have sub-brand, and I don’t have any problem with that but they can’t just launch the same smartphone. Yes, IQOO Z6 is a sub-brand of the recently launched Vivo T1 5G, and both of these smartphones are available at the same price too.

The IQOO Z6 5G price in India starts from Rs 15,499 for 4GB RAM + 128GB Storage while 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 16,999 but if you want more Ram then there is also 8GB Ram + 128GB storage variant which is priced at Rs 17,999.

The device is available in Dynamo Black and Chromatic Blue color options and it’s available on the Amazon India website.

Now, I have already reviewed the Vivo T1 5G but still, this is an IQOO device, so let’s talk a bit and find out whether you should spend almost 16k on IQOO Z6 5G or not.

IQOO Z6 5G Review

Yes, IQOO Z6 5G is worth buying if you’re looking for a gaming smartphone at a budget price range but if you want the overall best smartphone then you have to go above the 16k price range, in short, IQOO Z6 5G is a good smartphone for power users.

The phone doesn’t have an ultra-wide lens and also, the image doesn’t come out good too. IQOO is trying to whiten images. In short, don’t expect much from the camera department.

The performance is going to be good because the Snapdragon 695 is a powerful processor, so there won’t be any kind of problem with performance.

The battery will also last for a day but the phone only supports 18W charging which is not a good thing to have in 2022 even at a 15k price tag.

The design is also outdated, that waterdrop notch doesn’t look good either.

Overall, for the price of Rs 15499, IQOO Z6 5G is a good option for gamers only, don’t expect much from the camera department. Also, if you can go above 15k then do consider the RealMe 9 Pro 5G (review) or even Motorola G71 5G (review).

Display Quality

The IQOO Z6 5G comes with a 6.58-inches FHD+ 120Hz LCD display with a pick brightness of 460 nits and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It also supports Widevine L1 support which means you will be able to watch FHD+ content on OTT apps.

Now, this is an LCD panel which means, it can’t have an in-display fingerprint sensor and that’s why IQOO has added the sensor on the right side.

The fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate, no issues there, its works like a normal side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The display is also bright enough to use outdoors.

By the way, the IQOO Z6 5G has an iconic waterdrop notch which is not good at all, IQOO should have gone with a punch hole notch but again, this is a re-brand of Vivo T1 5G, so can’t say much about that.

Overall, I feel, IQOO should have gone with an AMOLED panel rather than LCD, even 60Hz AMOLED would have been a better option.

So if you’re okay with an LCD display then this could be a good option otherwise, do take look recently launched Motorola G71 5G.

Performance

We have seen Snapdragon 695 SoC in the recently launched Moto G71 5G and the same has been added to IQOO Z6 5G.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC is a powerful processor and it can handle almost every single mobile game without any problems.

The naming of a processor can be confusing but don’t worry, the Snapdragon 695 SoC is a little bit more powerful than Snapdragon 750G.

The IQOO Z6 5G runs on Fun Touch OS 12 based on Android 11, still, no Android 12 but actually it will get an Android 12 update but when?, only IQOO can tell.

It also has 5G support and it has two 5G bands including n77 and n78.

Now, keep in mind, Moto G71 5G has the same SoC and this phone has 13 5G bands whereas IQOO Z6 5G has only 2 5G bands.

By the way, IQOO can enable more 5G bands but they need to pay extra money to Qualcomm for the license and I don’t think, IQOO will pay the extra money, so you’re stuck with only 2 5G bands.

Snapdragon 695 SoC will give better performance than Snapdragon 750G, so there won’t be any issues while playing games or even using smartphones in day-to-day life.

In short, don’t get confused by the processor’s name.

Overall, don’t worry about speed.

Cameras

You like, beauty mode-ON all the time, and if the answer is yes then you found your next smartphone, yes IQOO is trying to add more white colors to images.

IQOO has compromised in the camera department and that’s the reason why the smartphone is priced at Rs 15,999 and not 20k.

By the way, IQOO Z6 5G comes with a 50MP primary sensor + 2MP macro + 2MP depth sensor while there is a 16MP selfie shooter on the front.

Both the front and rear cameras can shoot videos at 1080p@30fps while there is no support for OIS, it relies on EIS.

Just like every single budget IQOO smartphone, the video quality is not that great, IQOO tries to boost the colors, and in between, it losses out on details.

Most of the users who have already used the Vivo smartphone, this is not a big issue but those who are buying Vivo smartphone for the first time or wanted the best camera smartphone under 20k will be disappointed with IQOO Z6 5G.

Budget Vivo smartphones have one USP which is the front camera, so with IQOO Z6 5G, there is no need to use any filter because, by default, the image will come out with beauty mode ON, in another word, the images will come out more white.

That 50MP primary sensor is fine too, it doesn’t take a good image. There is some issue with the dynamic range. It’s hit or miss, sometimes, the image comes out very good, and sometimes, it’s not even useable.

IQOO needs to work on the camera otherwise, this is a smartphone with a powerful processor only, cameras are just there.

Now, those 2MP+2MP sensors are added for numbers, they won’t do much, so don’t expect anything.

The way you use decoration in your home, so it can look good, the same IQOO has done with cameras.

IQOO has also added tons of filters within the stock camera app, so you can directly use the filter and post the same on social media, with no need to use third-party apps.

Overall, IQOO Z6 5G has below-average cameras and one should not buy this smartphone for a camera, it’s a good smartphone for gaming only at a good price, nothing else.

Battery Life

The IQOO Z6 5G comes with a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging support. The 18W charger will take about 110 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.

Overall, the battery should last for the day because of the processor but in the end, it depends on you, and how you use your smartphone every day.

Now, I would have loved to 30W charging speed but here also, IQOO did cost-cutting.

Audio Quality

The IQOO Z6 5G doesn’t have stereo speakers, the single bottom speaker does work but again, it is a single speaker.

It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone. There is also support for carrier aggregation too.

As this is a budget smartphone, IQOO has added a 3.5mm audio jack.

Overall, the sound quality is good and there are no issues with call quality too.

Verdict

IQOO Z6 5G is a good gaming smartphone but one can not buy this smartphone because of the cameras, the camera needs lots of work. Also, if you’re paying 16k then I would recommend you to consider the Realme 9 Pro which is available at Rs 17999, I know, you’re paying an extra 2k but you’re getting an overall better smartphone.
