Redmi 9 Prime Review with Pros and Cons – Was the best

Redmi 9 Prime Review

If you want to buy Redmi 9 Prime and still, if you’re confused then this will help you to decide whether Redmi 9 Prime is for you or not.

Redmi 9 Prime India Price

Redmi 9 Prime India price starts from Rs 9,999 for 4GB of Ram and 64GB storage but if you want more storage then there is also a 4GB Ram and 128GB storage variant which is priced at Rs 11,999 in India. The Redmi 9 Prime is available in Space Blue, Mint Green, Matte Black, and Sunrise Flare color options.

You can buy Redmi 9 Prime from Amazon India website and Mi.com/In. Now let’s jump into the Review…

Display Quality

The good thing happens this year is most of the budget smartphone come with FHD+ display and Redmi 9 Prime also has FHD+ display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolutions, the phone has LCD but I’m not complaining because let’s be practical, no company will give you good cameras, processor and AMOLED below 10k.

Redmi 9 Prime has a waterdrop notch which is outdated because most of the phone comes with a punch-hole display but that won’t problem for many people, so nothing to worry about.

Redmi or you can say, Xiaomi has used Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect the front display which is also outdated but hey, this is under Rs 10,000 phone, so you can’t expect Gorilla Glass 5. Overall, there won’t be any problem with the display.

The phone also has 400 nits brightness which means you can use Redmi 9 Prime under the sunlight without any problem, you will able to see the screen and also, you can play games like PUBG Mobile or even COD Mobile under the sunlight and you won’t have any issues.

Overall, the display quality is very good under Rs 10,000. Also, the phone has a 6.53-inches display which is huge, so it’s going to be good for playing games or watching movies.

Talking about media, the Redmi 9 Prime also has support for Widevine L1 which means you can watch Movies in FHD+ on the OTT platform.

Build Quality & Design

The Redmi 9 Prime has a plastic back and plastic frame which means the build quality is not that great but considering the price tag, it’s not that bad. Also, if you see very closely then you will see the huge bottom bezel, so I think Redmi could have provided thin bottom bezels.

Overall, I’m not complaining about build quality because the phone is priced below 10k and whatever you’re getting is value for money. It’s not like, they have provided very cheap quality plastic.

Redmi 9 Prime OS

The only thing I don’t like is MIUI and I’m not saying MIUI is bad but the ads you get with the OS are bad. Whether you want to see ads or not, it doesn’t matter, Redmi will show you ads somehow.

The UI is smooth and fluid, there won’t be any problems with performance. Also, recently Xiaomi has improved the OS and this is the reason, the OS is quite simple to use. The Redmi 9 Prime is running on MIUI 11 based on Android 10 and the phone will get Android 11 and MIUI 12 updates very soon.

Cameras

There are not big numbers in cameras, so don’t think, the cameras are not that great. I have said many times, bigger sensors don’t mean, good picture quality. Mobile companies need to optimize the cameras, to give the best possible results.

Let me clear one thing for you, that ultra-wide lens and the other two depth and the macro lens won’t give you the best image quality.

You see, when you use the ultra-wide lens, the sensor will capture more area and that’s why the phone needs a bigger sensor in the budget segment because most of mobile companies don’t optimize the camera before launch.

Having a bigger ultra-wide lens will provide better image quality and the image won’t lose the colors and details.

Now let’s end the TEDx talks. Coming to Redmi 9 Prime, the phone does have a good camera setup but doesn’t expect the ultra-wide lens to be top-notch. Considering the price tag, Redmi 9 Prime has a decent camera setup, you won’t have any problems while taking images.

Now, I gonna stop here and you can see some of the images taken by Redmi 9 Prime down below…

Redmi 9 Prime Performance

MediaTek does make good processors but it’s only good for the budget segment, the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC is also a good processor and I think this is the best you’re getting below 10k in India.

You can also play games like PUBG Mobile or COD Mobile with high graphics but the performance won’t be very good, so I would say, just play in balanced or smooth mode. In short, you can play games on Redmi 9 Prime without any problem.

Some people will say I don’t want to buy a MediaTek processor, for those people, right now, there is no good smartphone available with a Qualcomm chip below 10k in India. Most of the brands are using MediaTek chip under Rs 10,000 segment. So even if you want a Qualcomm chip, there is no option available at this time.

Overall, Redmi 9 Prime has a processor, so there won’t any problem with performance. You will be able to use this phone without any problem.

Redmi 9 Prime Battery Life

The Redmi 9 Prime has a huge 5,000 mAh non-removable battery with 18W fast charging support but Redmi has only supplied a 10W charger in the box. So you have to buy an 18W charger which will cost you about Rs 499.

I don’t say much about the battery in Mobile Review because it depends on a user by user. The phone has a 5,000 mAh battery which will last for one day or if you’re a normal user then it could last for two days

“the battery life depends on your phone use if you every day play games for 6 hours then you need to charge a phone every 6 hours but if you’re like me and don’t use the phone very often then it will last for a day or so”

Redmi 9 Prime: Verdict

If your budget is below Rs 10,000 then without any doubt just go with Redmi 9 Prime. The phone has almost everything which normal users are looking for in the budget segment but keeps in mind, the Redmi 9 Prime has ads in the OS that mean even if you pay 10k, you will see ads somewhere on the phone.

Do I recommend Redmi 9 Prime?

Yes, I do recommend Redmi 9 Pro. Just don’t go with that 128GB variant because that doesn’t make any sense because it’s priced at 12k and if you pay 12k then just add a thousand more and go with POCO M2 Pro.
