Galaxy M33 5G Review

Samsung Galaxy M33 5G

Samsung Galaxy M33 5G

Samsung is like, we will give you a TFT display at 19k and you have to buy it, yes, I’m talking about the newly launched Samsung Galaxy M33 5G. The device has Exynos 1280 processor which is a powerful processor while there is no charger in the box.

The Samsung Galaxy M33 5G price in India starts from Rs 18,999 for 6GB Ram + 128GB storage while 8GB Ram + 128GB storage variant is available at Rs 20,499.

The device comes with Mint Green, Blue, and Brown color options and it will be available from Rs 8th April 2022 via Amazon at noon.

Samsung Galaxy M33 5G Review

No, the Samsung Galaxy M33 5G is not worth buying because the phone has a TFT display, the cameras are not that great, and eMMC Storage will make the smartphone slower in the long run while that Rs 18,999 price tag doesn’t justify it at all.

As this is a Samsung smartphone, the price is on the higher side, if you’re that person who wanted to buy a 5G Samsung phone under Rs 20,000 in India then this could be a good option otherwise, we have phones like POCO X4 Pro 5G, RealMe 9 Pro 5G and many other, so it doesn’t make any sense pay premium for Galaxy M33 5G.

By the way, Samsung didn’t give a charger in the box, so you have to buy a 25W charger from Samsung which will cost you Rs 1,999.

The phone does have Exynos 1280 processor and this is a powerful processor but still, one should not buy a smartphone, just because of the powerful processor, there are many features that matter.

Overall, I don’t recommend Galaxy M33 5G, don’t waste your money on Samsung Logo, there are many smartphones available with good prices and great specifications.

Display Quality

This is Rs 18999 smartphone and Samsung has added a TFT display which is not justifiable. It does have a 120hz refresh rate which will help a lot while scrolling three apps or even while playing games.

The frame and back are made out of plastic while Samsung didn’t mention what kind of glass protection they used on the front.

Samsung has also added widevine L1 support which means, you will be able to stream FHD+ content on OTT platforms.

Here comes the funny part, Samsung is an old two years old waterdrop notch display while the button bezel is kinda thick.

Overall, for the price of 19k, the display quality is not that great, this would have been a great display under 10k but at 19k, it doesn’t justify it at all.

Performance

We have seen Exynos 1280 processor in Galaxy A53 5G (review) and Samsung has recently added the same processor to Galaxy A33 5G too. Again, we have the same chip in Galaxy M33 5G.

The Exynos 1280 SoC is powerful enough to handle a 120Hz refresh rate, so there won’t be any frame drop and lag while using the smartphone while the device runs on OneUi 4.1 based on Android 12.

By the way, there won’t be any kind of problem while playing games, all the mobile games will work like butter.

It also has 5G support and Samsung has added 12 5G bands which is great because is about to launch in India very soon.

Galaxy M33 5G has full OneUI 4.1 support which means, you will be able to use all the OneUI features.

I don’t have any complaints about the processor, this is a good processor but the problem is, that the phone has eMMC storage which is not great for a 19k smartphone because after some time, let’s after a year of use, the phone might feel slower.

Samsung could have added UFS 2.2 storage but can’t expect that after the TFT display.

Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy M33 5G comes with a 50MP primary sensor, 5MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth sensor while there is an 8MP selfie shooter on the front.

The rear camera can shoot videos at 4k@30fps, and 1080p@30/60fps while the front can shoot at only 1080p@30fps.

The phone doesn’t have OIS, it relies on EIS, so the video footage won’t come out stable. The video quality is also not that great, the details are not good either while Samsung is trying to boost the colors.

Now, there is some issue with dynamic range, sometime, it does the job, and sometimes it blows up.

Everything can be fixed with a single OTA update but we have seen this in the past and Samsung hasn’t fixed this issue on Budget smartphones. So if you want to buy galaxy m33 5G then buy it as in the current situation, don’t expect anything else.

The front cameras also do the same, also, as this is only an 8MP sensor, it loses out on details and has the same dynamic range issue.

Coming to that 50MP primary sensor, this sensor takes some good images under good lights while Samsung has added tons of filters, so you won’t have to use any third-party apps.

As I have said, dynamic range issues can be seen in the images too, it’s a miss-or-hit situation.

Now, don’t get me started on 5MP ultra-wide because an ultra-wide lens captures more area compared to the primary sensor which means, the ultra-wide lens should be bigger and if the sensor is smaller then it will lose out on details.

Also, don’t ever use an ultra-wide lens at night because the images won’t be useable, I mean, you can upload them on social media but do it at your own risk.

Here comes the bigger sensors, those 2MP + 2MP sensors going to make your day, it’s the best sensor you can get on a budget smartphone, I mean, let’s just leave it there, they’re useless.

Overall, this could have been the best camera under 10k but at 19k, it doesn’t justify at all. So if you plan to buy this device then don’t set your expectation very high.

Audio Quality

Yes, the phone doesn’t have stereo speakers, it only has a single bottom-firing speaker which is good but not that great, dual speaker would have been better.

Also, it does have a Secondary Noise Cancellation Microphone, so the call quality will be good, in a noisy environment, another person on call will hear your voice.

By the way, Samsung has also added a 3.5mm audio jack which is another plus point.

Overall, the audio quality is decent, with no issue with call quality.

Battery Life

Most smartphones under 20k come with either 33W or 65W fast charging support but Samsung decided to go with 25W wired charging support.

Fun fact, Samsung didn’t give a charger in the box, so you have to use whatever you have at home or buy a 25W charger from Samsung which will cost you Rs 1,999.

This way, you will pay Rs 18,999 for the smartphone + Rs 1,999 for the charger, so the total will be Rs 21000.

That 6,000 mAh battery will last for more than a day but in the end, it will depend on how you use the smartphone in day-to-day life.
