Samsung Galaxy A33 5G Review with Pros and Cons – Premium Price?

Samsung Galaxy A33 5G Review

Samsung Galaxy A33 5G

Samsung has recently launched lots of smartphones under Galaxy M Series as well as the A-series and all-new launched phones are pricey compared to its competitors and that’s the same case with Samsung Galaxy A33 5G too.

The Galaxy A33 5G price in India starts from Rs 28,499 for 6GB Ram + 128GB storage while 8GB Ram + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 29,999. The device is available in Awesome Black, Awesome Blue, Awesome Peach, and Awesome White color options and it’s sold via Amazon.

Samsung Galaxy A33 5G Review

No, the Galaxy A33 5G is not worth buying because it’s an overpriced smartphone that doesn’t offer value at Rs 28499 price tag, there are tons of smartphones available under 30k that offer better specs and are available at the right price, so it doesn’t make any sense to pay extra for Samsung Galaxy A33 5G.

Now, if you’re looking for the latest Samsung smartphone then yes, Galaxy A33 5 could be a good option but if you want value for money then you can take look at the RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G (review), OnePlus Nord 2 5G (review) or Motorola Edge 20 5G.

The Galaxy A33 5G is powered by an all-new Exynos 1280 processor which is not great for gaming, it’s 15% less powerful than Snapdragon 778G 5G.

It does have good cameras but it doesn’t justify the 29k price tag. Also, Samsung didn’t provide a charger in the box which means, you have to buy a 25W charger from Samsung that will cost you extra Rs 1,999.

Overall, considering everything from price to specification, Samsung is charging extra money for brand value. So if you wanted to buy only a Samsung smartphone then you can consider buying Galaxy A33 5G otherwise, skip it.

Display Quality

The Galaxy A33 5G comes with a 6.40-inches 90Hz sAMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels while it also has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

Also, the front display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and Samsung added the widevine L1 which means, the device will be able to stream FHD+ content on the OTT platform.

By the way, the phone has a waterdrop notch which is not a good experience in 2022, Samsung should have gone with a punch hole but they didn’t.

The display brightness is also bright, so there won’t be any kind of issue while using the smartphone in daylight conditions.

Now, I would have loved to see, a 120Hz screen refresh rate because most phones under Rs 30000 are coming with either 144Hz or 120Hz refresh rate, so here that 90Hz doesn’t feel good.

Overall, for the price of 29k, Samsung has one great job, there won’t be any issues while watching movies or even playing games.

Performance

We have seen Exynos 1280 processor in Galaxy A53 5G (review) and Samsung has recently added the same processor to Galaxy M33 5G (review) too. Again, we have the same chip in Galaxy A33 5G.

The Exynos 1280 SoC is powerful enough to handle a 90Hz refresh rate, so there won’t be any frame drop and lag while using the smartphone while the device runs on OneUi 4.1 based on Android 12.

By the way, there won’t be any kind of problem while playing games, all the mobile games will work like butter.

It also has 5G support and Samsung has added 12 5G bands which is great because is about to launch in India very soon.

Galaxy A33 5G has full OneUI 4.1 support which means, you will be able to use all the OneUI features.

The Exynos 1280 SoC is a powerful processor but still, I would have loved to see, Snapdragon 778G or even Snapdragon 870 processor because this is a 29k smartphone, and that Exynos 1280 SoC is not that powerful to qualify for the 29k price tag.

So if you’re a gamer who wanted a powerful processor then you should skip the Galaxy A33 5G and conder the POCO F3 GT 5G or even OnePlus Nord 2 5G.

Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G comes with a 48MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth sensor while there is a 13MP selfie shooter on the front. The primary 48Mp primary has OIS support that will help a lot in videos and even in images too.

The rear camera can shoot videos at 4k@30fps, and 1080p@30fps while the front can shoot at only 1080p@30fps.

The videos do come out well, the details are there, and no issue with noise too. Now, there is some issue with dynamic range, it doesn’t happen every single time but yes, this issue can be fixed with an OTA update but again, it depends on Samsung when are they gonna do it.

The front cameras also take good videos, but not the best. Again, the front camera doesn’t have the OIS, so the footage won’t come out as smooth as the rear cameras, and the same for ultra-wide too.

That 48MP sensor also captures good images under good lighting but when there is low light or taking images at night, the sensor does suffer a bit. It produces a bit of extra noise and the images come out a bit softer.

Now, there is no issue with day, when there is a good amount of lights, the 48MP sensor works the best, there are details and no issue with dynamic range too.

Coming to 8MP ultra-wide lens, is not the best ultra-wide lens under Rs 30,000 because even under good lights, the images come out soft which is not a good sign for mid-budget smartphones.

Now, don’t get me started on low lights, the ultra-wide lens doesn’t take the best images under low light, yes, the dedicated night mode helps but that too overexposes the images and that’s where it loses out on details.

Also, if you can, just forget that 5MP + 2MP sensors, they’re added for showcase only.

Coming to front cameras, the 13MP selfie shooter takes good images under good lighting conditions but it’s a mess when it comes to low lights.

Considering, this is a Samsung smartphone, I can’t complain much, the Galaxy A33 5G has one of the best cameras but when we compared these cameras with RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G or even Nord 2 5G, the Galaxy A33 5G has kind of average cameras.

Audio Quality

As this is a Galaxy A Series smartphone, Samsung has added dual speakers which work great as usual, with no complaints.

There is also a secondary noise-cancellation microphone too which helps a lot in calling.

Now, if you’re that person who uses wired earphones then you have to buy a type-C to 3.5mm dongle because the phone doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack.

Overall, there won’t be any kind of issue with calling as well as audio, Samsung has done a great job this time.

Battery Life

No points for guessing, the Galaxy A33 5G doesn’t come with a charging adapter, and you have to pay Rs 1,999 to Samsung to buy that 25W charger separately.

This way, you will pay Rs 28,499 for the smartphone + Rs 1,999 for the charger, so the total will be Rs 30,498.

Also, most of the smartphones at 35k come with either 120W or 65W fast charging support but Samsung decided to go with 25W wired charging support.

That 5,000 mAh battery will last for a day but in the end, it will depend on how you use the smartphone in day-to-day life.
