Redmi 10 Prime Review with Pros and Cons – best but Pricey!

Redmi 10 Prime Review

Redmi 10 Prime Review

Redmi 10 Series is here and this is the first smartphone launched under this series in India. Unlike, last year, this time, Redmi 10 Prime is a bit pricey. We will talk about its Pros and Cons but before that let me share with you the India Price of Redmi 10 Prime.

Redmi 10 Prime Price in India

Redmi 10 Prime is priced at Rs 12,499 for 4GB of Ram and 64GB storage while the 6GB Ram and 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 14,999. The device is available in Astral White, Bifrost Blue, and Phantom Black color options and it is sold via the Amazon website.

Redmi 10 Prime Review

Redmi 10 Prime is worth buying but it’s not value for money device as Xiaomi is charging extra Rs 1,499. In terms of performance, the new MediaTek Helio G88 is more than capable to run almost all mobile games. The 50MP Quad camera is also decent enough to capture good images and the massive 6000mAh battery will last longer.

In short, Redmi has provided a balance with Redmi 10 Prime but unlike last year, Redmi 9 Prime, this device is not priced at Rs 10,500.

By the way, RealMe is also launching RealMe 8s 5G and 8i on 9th September 2021 and if those devices come at 13k or even 12k then just skip the Redmi 10 Prime.

What I’m saying is, wait for RealMe 8s 5G and 8i, if you want better phones under Rs 15,000. Now, let’s talk about the Pros and Cons of Redmi 10 Prime.

Redmi 10 Prime Pros and Cons

PROSCONS
FHD+ 90Hz DisplayBit Pricey
Massive 6000 mAh batteryFront Camera Needs Improvement
3.5mm Audio Jack eMMC 5.1 Storage Support
Stereo Speakers LCD Display
Decent Cameras
Decent Chipset
Dedicated Micro-SD Card Slot
Bright Display

These are the Pros and Cons of Redmi 10 Prime, now, let’s go deep down and see, what new Redmi has to offer this time.

Redmi 10 Prime Display Quality

I would have loved to see the FHD+ AMOLED 60Hz display but Redmi went with a 6.50-inches 90Hz LCD panel. Now the display is bright enough to see under the sunlight and it also has Wide Vine L1 support.

Still, AMOLED would have been a good option as Redmi 10 Prime is priced at Rs 12,499.

On the front side, the device is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 while it has a plastic back and frame.

The display has a pick brightness of 400 nits which is again, good for watching movies or using a smartphone outdoors.

Overall, if you’re looking for an AMOLED panel then Redmi 10 Prime is not the best option, you can take look at Redmi Note 10.

So yes, Redmi has used good quality LCD panel and there won’t be any kind of problem while using apps or playing games.

Redmi 10 Prime Cameras

The Redmi 10 Prime comes with a 50MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth rear cameras while there is an 8MP selfie shooter. Both the rear and front cameras can shoot videos up to 1080p@30fps.

Talking about video quality, as you have guessed, the footage will be turned out shaky as the phone doesn’t have OIS support.

There is no mention of which 50MP sensor has been used on Redmi 10 Prime. Still, the sensor provides good-quality images. Again, the sensor doesn’t provide natural images, it tries to overexpose and over saturate the colors.

Redmi is not the only brand that does this, almost all the other brands that launch phones around 12k, tries to do the same thing.

Now, that 8MP ultra-wide lens is just an add-on. When it comes to good lights, the ultra-wide lens gives a good quality image but when there is slightly low light, it loses out details.

In short, don’t ever use the ultra-wide lens at night.

The Redmi 10 prime also has a 2MP+2MP sensor but there are added for marketing, so ignore it.

Coming to an 8MP front camera, this sensor needs improvement. It doesn’t look like Rs 12,499 camera sensor, it looks like an 8k smartphone camera.

Again, as I have said many times, don’t pay for future promises. So if a company says, we will fix the problem with OTA update, ignore it. If you like the product in what it is a condition, go for it.

In short, the front camera doesn’t justify the Rs 12,499 price tag.

Also, the same goes for the rear camera too but it’s not as bad as the front camera.

The Redmi 10 prime should have launched at 11k but now at Rs 12,499, the camera is kind of okay. It’s not bad or best, it has a decent or you call it average camera.

Redmi 10 Prime Performance

Redmi 10 Prime is powered by MediaTek Helio G88 SoC and it’s running on MIUI 12.5-based on Android 11.

This is a new chipset but it’s not very powerful. It’s a slight upgrade from MediaTek Helio G85.

In short, you won’t face any problems while playing games or watching movies. The chipset can handle almost all the games without any problem.

Redmi has gone with eMMC storage rather than UFS, in long term, the phone may feel slow or laggy. In normal words, you can call this cost-cutting.

By the way, the Redmi 10 Prime comes with tons of pre-installed apps along with lots of Xiaomi apps which no one uses. Also, the stock apps do have ads that can’t be disabled 100%.

Talking about me, I don’t like MIUI OS, it’s filled with ads and bloatware.

In the end, Redmi 10 Prime won’t give you trouble while playing games or using social media apps. The MediaTek Helio G85 is powerful enough to handle almost everything but don’t expect the performance to be like a 20k smartphone.

If you want to buy a smartphone for a year or two then I would suggest you add Rs 2,500 and take look at Redmi Note 10 (review) or Moto G40.

Redmi 10 Prime Audio Quality

This is where I feel, Redmi has done a good job. The Redmi 10 Prime comes with Stereo Speakers, a secondary noise-cancellation microphone, an IR blaster, and a 3.5mm Audio jack. Also, it has carrier aggregation support.

Overall, speakers are loud and clear and while calling, you won’t face any problem.

IR blaster can be used to control anything and if you don’t have TWS Earbuds then you can also use wired earphones because the phone also has a 3.5mm audio jack.

Redmi 10 Prime Battery Life

I will just tell you the specs and that’s it,

The Redmi 10 Prime has a massive 6,000mAh battery with 18W wired charging and 9W Reverse Charging Support.

The battery will easily last for two days. Yes, that was it. There won’t be any problem with the battery as this has a 6,000 mAh battery which will last longer than your current smartphone.

Verdict

As I have said, the Redmi 10 Prime is a bit pricey. So if you can pay extra Rs 1,500 for the Redmi brand then go for it but if you can go above Rs 12,999 then do take look at Moto G40 or even Redmi Note 10.

If I have to buy a phone for around 10k then I would go with POCO M2 (review) or M3 (review) but if I had a budget up to 15k then I would go for Redmi Note 10.

The Redmi 10 Prime does have a good processor but the cameras are not that great, the build is made out of plastic, it has eMMC 5.1 Storage Support, and Redmi is charging extra Rs 1,500.
