RealMe Narzo 50 Review

RealMe Narzo 50

After the launch of the RealMe 9 Series, RealMe is back with Narzo Series. The newly launched Realme Narzo 50 is an affordable smartphone that will target the under Rs 15,000 segment in India.

RealMe Narzo 50 Price in India

The device is available in Speed Blue and Speed Black Color Options and it will go for sale on 3rd March 2022 via Amazon at noon.

Note: The Rs 12,999 price for 4GB Ram + 64GB storage is temporary, which means, the price will increase after a month or two. RealMe didn’t say anything about when the regular price will be applicable.

RealMe Narzo 50 Review

Yes, RealMe Narzo 50 is worth buying because it has powerful Mediatek Helio G96 SoC, 33W fast charging support, 120Hz refresh rate, and good cameras while it’s available at a good price, so you’re paying extra money for only brand value, you’re getting value for money device.

Now, keep in mind, RealMe Narzo 50 doesn’t have 5G support, also, this is available at 13k, can’t expect 5G.

Still, if you want a 5G-supported smartphone then you can consider the Motorola G51 5G (review) which is available at Rs 14,999.

Overall, for the price of Rs 12,999, RealMe Narzo 50 is a solid smartphone, and its a value money device but if RealMe increases the smartphone price to Rs 14,999 then it doesn’t make any sense to buy Narzo 50 as we have a better option available.

Display Quality

The RealMe Narzo 50 comes with a 6.60-inches 120Hz LCD Display with a touch sampling rate of 180Hz and 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution.

On the rear side, it has plastic and the frame is also made out of plastic while there is no mention of what kind of glass protection has been used on the front side.

The phone does have Widevine L1 support which means, you will be able to watch FHD+ content on OTT platforms.

The screen brightness is also good, there won’t be any issues while using a smartphone outdoors, the 480 nits brightness helps a lot.

Overall, for the price of Rs 12,999, RealMe has done a great job, you will be more than happy with the display quality.

Performance

The device has a MediaTek Helio G96 processor and runs on RealMe UI 2.0 based on Android 12, but still, no Android 12.

I would have loved to see, Android 12 but what can I say?

We have seen MediaTek Helio G96 in many smartphones and all the smartphones have performed very well, so no issue with performance.

Also, the 120hz refresh rate helps a lot while using smartphones in day-to-day life. By the way, MediaTek Helio G96 is a gaming SoC, so if you wanted to buy a new smartphone under 15k for gaming then this could be a good option to consider.

As I have said, the phone doesn’t have 5G support, so you’re stuck with a 4G network.

Overall, you won’t face any kind of problem while playing games or using a smartphone in day-to-day life, the processor is powerful enough to handle almost everything.

Cameras

The RealMe Narzo 50 comes with a 50MP primary sensor, 2MP macro, and 2 MP depth sensor while there is a 16MP selfie shooter on the front.

Both the rear and front cameras can shoot videos at only 1080p@30fps while it relies on EIS, can’t expect OIS at Rs 12,999.

The videos come out good, can’t complain much as this is only priced at 13k, if this phone was launched at 15k then I would have complained about it.

For the first time I feel, RealMe has done a good job in the camera department, the details come out good, and there is some issue with dynamic range but it doesn’t happen every single time.

Also, as this is a Realme smartphone, the colors will pop-up out.

Now, there was no need for a 2MP + 2MP sensor, they could have provided an Ultra-wide lens.

Technically, the phone does have triple rear cameras but in real life, only a 50MP sensor will be useable.

The 16MP front camera also captures some good images, now I have noticed a dynamic issue with the front camera, and it’s a bit extra compared to rear cameras.

I just hope, RealMe fixes this problem.

Overall, considering the Rs 12,999 price tag, RealMe has done a good job.

Audio Quality

Yes, the phone doesn’t have stereo speakers, it only has a single bottom-firing speaker which is good but not that great, dual speaker would have been better.

Also, there is No Secondary Noise Cancellation Microphone, so the call quality won’t be the best, in a noisy environment, another person on call might have difficulty hearing your voice.

By the way, RealMe has also added a 3.5mm audio jack which is another plus point.

Overall, the audio quality is decent and the call quality is also decent.

Battery Life

The RealMe Narzo 50 comes with a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The 33W charger will take about 60 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.

Overall, if you’re a heavy user then get ready to charge this smartphone twice a day but if you’re a casual user then, the battery should last for a day.

You can also use the 33W charger, so even if the battery doesn’t last for a day then the will be charged in 60 minutes.

Verdict

I think you already have some idea whether Realme Narzo 50 is for you or not.

If you ask, RealMe Narzo 50 is a solid smartphone from RealMe, and it’s worth the Rs 12,999 price tag.

Now, if the smartphone price goes to 14k and if you can spend Rs 1,000 more than any day, go with Motorola G51 5G but if you can’t still, RealMe Narzo 50 would be a good choice at even a 14k price tag.
