RealMe 11 Pro 5G Review with Pros and Cons

RealMe 11 Pro 5G Punch Rear Camera Placement 3

RealMe 11 Pro 5G is a well-priced smartphone but the fact is, it doesn’t have good cameras. So let’s find out whether it’s worth the Rs 23,999 price tag or if it’s just a phone with a curved panel.

RealMe 11 Pro 5G Prices

The phone comes in Sunrise Beige (Leather) and Astral Black (Plastic) and it will go on sale on 15th June 2023 Via Flipkart and RealMe.Com/in at noon.

RealMe 11 Pro 5G Review

RealMe is offering something that users are looking for which is a curved display with an attractive design but other than that, the RealMe 11 Pro 5G doesn’t have that X factor for the Rs 23,999 price tag.

So yes, the RealMe 11 Pro 5G is worth buying but it’s not for everything. If you’re looking for a gaming or even a camera-centric phone, kindly stay away from this phone as the phone only has a single rear camera and decent SoC.

However, if you are a casual user who wants a good-looking smartphone with a curved display and you’re not into gaming much then RealMe 11 Pro 5G could be a good option to consider.

Display

There is no difference between RealMe 11 Pro Plus and RealMe 11 Pro’s display, they both have the same 6.70-inch curved AMOLED panel with 950 peak brightness.

No changes at all.

The HDR issue is still present on this device too.

For example, if you’re watching HDR video vertically and if you tilt horizontally then the color itself changes. Now, this is a big problem because this shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Also, for some reason, Netflix is not showing on Google Play Store, so I had to download the Netflix apk. Hope, this is just a software bug (I will update here if Netflix appears on Play Store)

You can also watch FHD+ videos as the phone has widevine L1 support.

One more thing, make sure you buy proper tempered glass because the phone has a curved display and it will break if you don’t take care of this phone.

So yes, this is one of the trade-offs that you have to make to get a beautiful device.

The good news is, the phone has an in-display fingerprint sensor which works fine, so there is no issue with it. You can also use your face to unlock.

Overall, for the price of Rs 23999, RealMe has done a fabulous job and you fall in love with the display. Now the problem is the build quality, so let’s talk about it.

Build and Design

The RealMe 11 Pro 5G comes in a Leather and Plastic variant, the prices for both variants are the same, you just have to pick what you like the most.

If you ask me, I would go with Leather because it’s better than plastic but if RealMe had launched the glass variant then I would have gone with Glass.

The bad news is, the frames are made from plastic which doesn’t look that bad but does feel bad.

The moral of the story is that plastic frames have a higher chance of breaking compared to aluminum. The solution is, don’t sit on the phone.

Now, about the design.

It’s a refreshing design, it’s not a new design because we have seen rounded cameras in the past but we haven’t seen much in the mid-budget segment.

I loved it, what about you, do let me know in the comments.

Performance

The Mediatek Dimensity 7050 is not a gaming processor, it can handle a little bit of gaming but it’s not a proper gaming SoC. So if you’re that user who plays games for hours every day then the RealMe 11 Pro is not the best option.

Also, Mediatek Dimensity 7050 (6 nm) is a re-branded version of Mediatek Dimensity 1080 (6 nm) which wasn’t known for gaming at all.

This is the new chipset in the same box.

Now, let’s talk about the fun part.

The phone runs on RealMe UI 4.0 which has lots of ads. Now, the thing is, you can disable ads but not 100%, you will see a few ads here and there.

So make sure you disable things like Hot Games, Hot App, and even Security apps by Realme.

Now, the big thing is, the phone comes with tons of pre-installed apps which are uninstallable but still, you will have to spend 10 to 30 minutes.

What I’m trying to say is, the phone is priced at Rs 23,999 and this doesn’t feel or look like a Rs 23,999 experience from any angle.

One more thing, RealMe has promised 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security updates.

The moral of the story is, don’t buy RealMe 11 Pro 5G for gaming and you won’t get the best experience in the software department as well.

Cameras

Okay, so the RealMe 11 Pro 5G is priced at Rs 23,999 and it has a 100MP primary sensor and 2MP macro sensor on the rear while it has a 16MP selfie shooter on the front.

The rear camera can shoot videos at 1080p@30/60fps and 4k@30fps while the front can shoot at 1080p@30fps.

The rear camera does have the OIS but sadly it doesn’t work in 4k, although it works in 1080p.

The quality of the video is not that great, the phone does take good videos but it adds a bit of extra colors and softens the human subject all the time. As a result, it doesn’t provide natural videos.

The front has the same issue but here, it makes more of whiter videos and has some issues with dynamic range.

For example, if you’re taking video of yourself with the front camera and there is light behind you then the sensor will have a hard to finger what to focus on and what not to.

Still, the videos are not the worst but it can get better with updates.

On the rear, we have only two sensors from 2MP macro is for showcase while the 100MP sensor looks more like added for marketing.

I’m saying this because it takes boosted along with soft images. I like natural color but if you’re that person who loves saturated and whiter images then this is the perfect phone for you.

The images are a bit better compared to RealMe 10 Pro but it’s not a huge change from last gen.

Now, night photography has improved because most of the night images are coming out brighter but yes, it adds a bit of extra noise.

Still,  I feel, Realme has improved the night mode compared to the last RealMe 10 Series phones.

Talking about the 16MP selfie shooter, this is nothing new. It is the same as any other budget phone.

The selfie comes out whiter and saturated. So the good news is, you won’t have to apply any filters when you post your photos on social media.

If in case you want to add a filter then you can also use the RealMe in-built filter which has been added to the stock camera app.

Yes, the Realme 11 Pro 5G doesn’t have the best cameras under Rs 25,000 but it’s not the worst either. The lack of ultra-wide does make a huge difference but still, if you’re okay with decent cameras, you can consider buying this phone.

Audio

The RealMe 11 Pro comes with stereo speakers but it doesn’t have the 3.5mm audio jack which is not a big deal because we’re living in 2023.

It would have been great if the phone had the audio jack but it’s not a deal breaker.

The dual speaker is good, about 35% volume comes from the top speaker, and the remaining comes from the bottom speaker.

The call quality is good and it has carrier aggregation support along with 9 5G bands (n1, n3, n5, n8, n28A, n40, n41, n77, and n78).

Battery

The 5,000mAh battery will last for a day but if you’re a heavy user then you will have to charge the RealMe 11 Pro 5G twice a day.

But for the majority of the users, the battery won’t be a problem.

At the same time, RealMe has added a 67W charger in the box, so you won’t have to worry about battery or charging speed.

For those who’re wondering, no the phone doesn’t have NFC like RealMe 11 Pro Plus 5G.

Summary

RealMe 11 Pro 5G is not a bad smartphone, the biggest problem is not adding an ultra-wide lens. We’re living in days where people are using their phones to capture everything, so it makes sense to provide ultra-wide. The end story is, don’t buy this phone for gaming or cameras.
