Motorola is becoming what OnePlus was about years ago, they have launched some of the best smartphones at a good price in India under Moto G Series and Now Moto Edge Series.

The device is available in Meteor Grey and Aurora Green color option while it will go for sale on 19th May 2022 at noon via Flipkart.

Moto Edge 30 5G has almost everything that you can ask for in a mid-budget smartphone, so let’s see whether you should spend 28k on the device or not.

Motorola Edge 30 5G Review

Yes, Motorola Edge 30 5G is worth buying because it checks all the boxes, the device has a powerful Snapdragon 778+ processor, triple cameras with OIS, solid battery life, dual speakers, 13 5G Bands, 144Hz pOLED display, and its available at Rs 27999 which is a good price for what Motorola is offering.

The Snapdragon 778+ is a new processor but it’s not a huge upgrade from the Snapdragon 778 SoC but yes, it is an improved version. The device also runs on Android 12, now, Motorola uses the close-to-stock UI, so the experience will be great too.

This time, Motorola has worked on the cameras and they’re also better than the last-gen Motorola Edge 20 5G.

That OIS helps a lot while taking images or even videos, so yes, you will be more than happy with the camera department.

Also, as I have said in the Motorola Edge 20 Review, the device has the best battery life because of the Snapdragon 778 Processor and the same can be said for the Moto Edge 30 5G too.

Now, can’t say much about the display, I mean, it has a 6.5-inch pOLED display with a 144Hz screen refresh rate, Moto has also used a good quality panel, so don’t worry about the display, it’s the best under 30k.

Overall, considering the price and the specifications, Motorola Edge 30 5G is a solid smartphone and it has almost everything that Indian users are looking for in mid-budget smartphones.

Yes, it’s worth buying for Under Rs 30000, you won’t be disappointed with the Motorola Edge 30 5G but still, let’s go deep down and find out what Motorola is hiding…

Display Quality

The Motorola Edge 30 5G comes with a 6.50-inches 144Hz pOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The front is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 while the rear & frame is made out of plastic.

The device has a 6.8 mm thickness, so if you like slim devices then this is it, you will love the design as well as the weight balance because the weight is only 155 grams.

Motorola has also added Widevine L1 support which means, you will be able to stream FHD+ content on all the OTT platforms. While it has 500 nits of pick brightness.

The brightness is a bit low but you won’t face any problems while using the smartphone under the sunlight, the screen is visible outdoors but still, Motorola should have provided 1000 nits brightness.

For the first time, in the mid-budget segment, Motorola has added an in-display fingerprint sensor which again, works fine, with no issue there.

Overall, for the price of Rs 27999, Motorola has provided a good-quality display.

Performance

The device is powered by an all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 Plus processor while it runs on My UX 3.0 based on Android 12. Motorola has also promised two years of OS updates and three years of security updates.

The Snapdragon 778+ is a well-optimized processor and it can handle almost all mobile games without any problems.

So whether you’re a gamer or not, you won’t face any kind of problem with the device.

We all know that Motorola uses the close-to-stock UI, so the experience will be great, there are ads in the UI like we see on the Xiaomi or RealMe Devices.

Motorola has also added the 13 5G bands, so whenever 5G launches in India, you will be able to take advantage of the network, no need to buy a new device like we did when 4G was launched…

Overall, don’t worry about the performance, the device has the best processor under Rs 30000 in India and after this device, you will see the same processor in many other smartphones.

Cameras

The Motorola Edge 30 5G comes with a 50MP primary sensor which also has OIS support, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor while it has a 32MP selfie shooter on the front.

The rear camera can shoot videos at 4k@30fps, and 1080p@30/60fps while the front can shoot videos at 4k@30fps and 1080p@30fps.

By the way, only the 50MP primary sensor has OIS support.

Because of the OIS, the videos do come out well, so if you love to shoot videos while walking then the OIS will help a lot.

Also, the same can be said for the images too, the OIS does help in images too.

Let’s say you’re taking the image, and if your hands shake a little bit then that OIS will come in place and it will make sure that you will get a clear image.

Motorola has also fixed the dynamic range which was present in Motorola Edge 30 5G.

Now, I didn’t face any kind of issue with dynamic range, the sensor is trying its best to give you good videos and even images.

By the way, the front camera remains the same, no changes here, it’s the same 32MP sensor but Motorola has done a little bit of optimization.

Still, I feel, the front camera needs a little bit of improvement. The selfie does come out good but the 32MP sensor is trying to boost the colors, so if you love saturated colors then you will love the front camera but if you’re like me who loves natural colors then you will need some time to get used it.

Also, I don’t take tons of selfies but if you do, then you have to think about it. By the way, this can be fixed with an OTA update but again, it depends on Motorola when they gonna do it.

The 50MP ultra-wide also takes some good images because of the bigger sensor size.

I have said, many times that mobile brand needs to provide bigger ultra-wide lenses, and look like, Motorola is reading our reviews…

So yes, the ultra-wide lens takes a good image, with no issue with the details, the colors also come out good and the dynamic range was also well balanced.

The night images also come out well, also, this time, night mode has improved compared to Moto edge 20 5G.

By the way, after long-long time, Motorola has changed the stock camera UI. The new stock camera app is only available on Moto Edge 30 5G and I hope they update the same on all the other Motorola devices.

The Camera UI looks the same but it’s more organized, so now, you don’t have to search for anything, everything is there on the front.

Coming to that 2MP sensor if you can ignore it then do it because it’s added for decoration, nothing else…

From videos to images, Motorola has done a great job and it’s a huge upgrade from the Motorola Edge 20 5G.

I mean, they did remove the telephoto lens but they have also improved the cameras too, so can’t complain about it.

Overall, you will be more than happy with the cameras, there is a little bit of work to do but again, it can be ignored because that’s not a big problem.

Yes, I’m talking about the dynamic range issue which the 32MP front camera has.

Audio Quality

Get ready because you’re about to hear something new,

Yes, after a long time, Motorola has decided to add the stereo speakers and yes, it works great.

It also has a secondary noise-cancellation microphone which will help a lot in calling too. Also, it does have carrier aggregation support.

Now, as this is a mid-budget segment smartphone, it doesn’t have the 3.5mm audio jack.

Overall, the speaker quality is great and there is no issue with the call quality too.

Battery Life

You may have heard, to get something you have to lose something and that’s the case with the Motorola Edge 30 5G.

The device has only a 4020mAh battery with 33W fast charging support and yes, the charger is provided with the box.

As I have said in the Motorola edge 20 reviews,

The Snapdragon 778+ is a well-optimized processor and it’s battery efficient too. So if you’re a casual user then the battery will last for a day but if you’re a heavy user then you will have to charge the battery two times.

I know, Motorola should have provided the 5000mAh battery but Motorola went with the design. The device a has 6.8 mm thickness and because of that, Motorola didn’t able to add a bigger battery.
