Nothing Phone 1 Android 13 Review – Zero To Hero Journey

Nothing Phone (1)

When Nothing Phone 1 was launched, it had tons of software bugs and problems, and now with the latest Android 13 Update, Nothing has fixed almost everything and the phone looks more refreshed and fluid.

So let’s find out in this review, what kind of changes Nothing has done and whether it’s worth the Rs 30k price tag or not.

By the way, I won’t be talking about everything because I have already reviewed Nothing Phone 1, this will be a close look at the device after Android 13, so if you wanted to buy this device now then you will have a clear idea about it.

Nothing Phone 1 Review After Android 13

I have never seen Mobile Brands improved their smartphone with updates, now of course, Nothing is New Mobile Brand, nonetheless, it’s good to see brands are improving phones with updates rather destroying them (wink wink).

Camera Improvements

One of the biggest improvements of Nothing Phone 1 after Android 13 is the Cameras, Nothing Team has worked a lot which does reflect real-life usage, the camera quality jumped from average to top class, all because of the software optimization.

Also, as I have said in the review, Nothing needs to work on the Ultra-wide and Front camera, and looks like Nothing has worked on it as both of these sensors are quite better, especially after the Android 13 Update.

The dynamic range has been fixed and even the color correction is way better compared to the launch.

Also, the front camera had some issues in portrait mode which has been fixed big time. Now, when you take a selfie in portrait mode then it provides better edge detection and looks more natural.

When it comes to night photography, Nothing has made some improvements. Earlier, the night photo used to have extra softness but that has been fixed, now, the sensor doesn’t try to add extra softness which makes the images natural.

Still, Nothing has added filters within the stock camera app, so if you wanted softness or noise then you can always play around with the settings.

What I’m saying is, the front and even ultra-wide lenses have improved big time which is a good thing and I feel, more mobile brands need to provide this kind of update rather than launching five to ten smartphones every year (I’m talking about BBK)

Performance

Nothing Phone 1 New Lock Screen Media Player

The Snapdragon 778+ is a well-optimized processor, so there weren’t any problems from the chipset side of things, the problem was from the software that has been fixed.

The UI feels more fluid and the app closing animation looks more natural.

All in all, Nothing OS is stable now compared to Nothing 1.0

Of course, as of now, we don’t have features like Dual App and I’m happing that Nothing will add this feature because Google has added this feature in the Android 14 Developer Preview.

Battery Life

The battery life was already rock-solid when the phone was launched and now with Android 13, it has been better, it’s not like solid 2 days battery life but now, it’s a bit better now.

For those who don’t know, the phone doesn’t come with a charger, you will have to buy a 33W charger or use the charge you have at your home, however, the Type-C cable is provided in the box.

Again, there is support for 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse charging.

New Prices

If you’re not in a hurry then do wait for some kind of sale on Flipkart because during the sale, the base variant of Nothing Phone 1 starts at Rs 26,999 which is a killer price for what you’re getting.

If you can’t wait for the sale then don’t worry, Nothing has decreased the price for all the variants in India.

Is it Worth Buying Nothing Phone 1 After Android 13?

Nothing New weather app home screen

Yes, no doubt about that, Nothing Phone 1 has aged like fine Wine, and Nothing has fixed almost every single bug that Nothing OS 1 had, so yes, if your budget is Rs 30,000 and if you’re not into gaming then consider Buying Nothing Phone 1 over any other smartphone.

Verdict

If you look at smartphones under Rs 30,000 in India then almost all the options are From iQOO which focuses on Gaming, OPPO which provided overpriced smartphones, and the same for Vivo as well, Xiaomi doesn’t have good cameras and has tons of software issues, and here comes the well-balanced Nothing Phone 1.

Now, it’s not like Nothing Phone 1 is the perfect smartphone under Rs 30,000 but compared to other phones, this is better in terms of cameras, software, battery life, and design while the processor is also good but it’s not good for heavy gaming.

There you have it, still, if you have any kind of questions then feel free to drop in the comment.

Note: I will update this article, if Nothing drops new features or improves the software further when the Android 13 rolls out for everyone.
