Lava Agni 2 5G Review with Pros and Cons

What Micromax wasn’t able to do is now done by Lava, the Agni 2 5G is that smartphone that Micromax wanted to make but hey, things didn’t go as they planned it.

So today, let’s go deep down into the Lava Agni 2 5G and find out whether it’s the best smartphone for the price of Rs 21,999 or it’s just another Indian brand trying to play with our emotions.

Lava Agni 2 5G Review

Lava Agni 2 5G is not made for power users, it has a decent processor for day-to-day usage while the cameras are not highlighting part but Lava did a good job in the rear cameras, still, for the price of Rs 21999, this is a good smartphone to consider.

So yes, the Lava Agni 2 5G is worth buying but if you’re looking for a proper gaming smartphone then stay away from this but for everything else, this is a decent smartphone for all kinds of users except for gamers.

Also, the phone does have good rear cameras but the same can’t be said for the front cameras.

It would be good, if Lava improves the front camera because as of now, it has lots of issues, the dynamic range is not perfect and even the colors are not as good as other phones under Rs 25,000.

Now, let’s dig a bit deeper and take a look at its cameras, build, display, performance, battery life, and even audio quality. So you can make a good buying decision.

Display

Never thought that the Indian Mobile Brand would provide a 120Hz 10bit curved AMOLED display at Rs 21999 but hey, things are changing for good.

The phone has 950 nits brightness which is good enough for outdoor usage, You won’t face any problems whether you want to play games or even use cameras under direct sunlight.

Now, as the phone has an AMOLED panel, Lava has added an in-display fingerprint sensor which again works well.

The front is protected with Scott sensation glass but still, make sure you use the screen protection because you know “glass is glass and it can break”

Lava has also added HDR10+ support but sadly, it’s not working in Netflix but for some reason, it’s working well in YouTube. It also has Widevine L1 support which means, you can watch FHD+ contact on all the OTT apps.

Now, Lava has optimized the 120hz AMOLED panel which does reflect well in real-life usage. I didn’t notice any frame drops or even lag while using the UI, everything was smooth.

I’m not a big fan of the curved panel but you might love it. I like, more of a flat panel. What about you, do let me know in the comments.

Overall, for the price of Rs 21999, the Lava Agni 2 5G has a solid display that too comes with a curved.

Build and Design

The Lava Agni 2 5G is a big smartphone, I mean, it has a massive 6.79-inch AMOLED panel along with that huge camera design on the rear side.

I’m that person who loves the 5.5-inch smartphone, so yes, this is not made for me but if you love to use large screens then you will enjoy Lava Agni 2 5G, especially when you watch movies or even play games.

The back has matt glass while the front is protected with Scott sensation glass, and the frames are made from plastic. The weight is about 202 grams.

The design is subjective, so I will leave it up to you whether you like or hate it.

What I comment on is, build.

Apart from the plastic frame, Lava has done a great job. Also, the phone feels and looks premium because of that matt glass finish on the rear.

Also, that curved panel plays a big part.

Performance

Mediatek Dimensity 7050 provides the same performance as the Mediatek Dimensity 1080, it’s just that, MediaTek has changed the name but didn’t bother to work on other stuff.

In short, don’t get confused by the name.

As I have said, the Mediatek Dimensity 7050 is not a gaming processor but you can play a little bit of gaming here and there but don’t expect high performance.

The good news is that PUBG New State supports 90fps while COD Mobile supports smooth to high graphics.

The Lava Agni 2 5G doesn’t have the pure stock UI but also, it doesn’t have the ads like RealMe or even Xiaomi phones which is another plus point.

Lava has added all the features like Internet Speed, background playback, display color setting, and much more.

So, the software doesn’t feel unpolished at all.

Lava has promised 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security updates. So let’s wait and see how they deliver the same. It runs on Android 13 which means, the phone should get Android 14 and 15.

For 5G, Lava has added 13 5G bands, so if your city has a 5G network then you will be able to take advantage of the 5G network.

5G Bands: n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n66, n77, and n78.

Overall, the Lava Agni 2 5G provides a decent performance along with a smooth software experience.

Cameras

There is no OIS but the EIS works well, however, the absence of OIS does feel when shooting videos while walking or running.

The 50MP primary sensor takes good images under good lighting but when it comes to low light, it suffers a little bit. It tries to soften the images and adds a little bit of noise.

Even dedicated night mode doesn’t make a difference.

The colors are not natural, you will get a bit of saturated colors which is not a bad thing as most of the brands are doing the same in the budget segment.

The good news is, the primary sensor is doing a great job in dynamic range.

Now, the 8MP ultra-wide lens is there which is good but it’s not that great. My advice would be, don’t use it under low light.

So yes, the ultra-wide lens needs lots of improvement.

Those 2MP+2MP sensors are just there for showcase, so let’s move on to 16MP front camera.

Unlike a rear camera, the front camera has a dynamic range issue. It’s not able to manage the background light properly.

Again, the front camera provides a bit whiter and more colorful images.

Overall, as of now, the Lava Agni 2 5G doesn’t have the best cameras for the price of Rs 21999 but still, it’s not bad either. It just needs a little bit of optimization and it will be on par with other devices.

Battery Life

The 4,700mAh battery will last for a day but yes, if you’re a heavy user who plays games, uses social media, takes calls, video calls, and much more then gets ready to charge the device twice a day.

For a normal user who only takes calls and uses social media here and there, for those, the phone will last for more than a day.

Lava has also included a 66W charger in the box which will take only 16 minutes to charge from 0% to 50%.

Audio

No audio jack or even dual speaker, you have to use a single speaker which is not good for the Rs 21999 smartphone but hey, Lava has also added features like a curved display, so this may be justifiable.

For my kind of users, a curved display won’t be a huge feature, we rather loved the stereo speaker.

Again, the single speaker is good but it’s not as good as the dual speaker.
