Infinix Zero 5G Review with Pros and Cons – Gaming Beast

Infinix Zero 5G Review

Infinix Zero 5G Review

Infinix is back with another smartphone and this time it’s a 5G smartphone, unlike Infinix Note 11 Series. The Infinix Zero 5G is made for gaming for gamers at a budget price.

The Infinix Zero 5G is priced at Rs 19,999 for 8GB of Ram and 128GB of storage and it’s available in Cosmic Black and Skylight Orange color option while the phone will go for sale on 18th February 2022 at noon via Flipkart.

Infinix Zero 5G does have its Pros and Cons which I will be talking about in this review, so let’s start Infinix Zero 5G review.

Infinix Zero 5G Review

Infinix Zero 5G is a gaming smartphone, so yes, it’s worth buying a smartphone for gamers only, if you wanted a balanced smartphone then do take look at Motorola G51 5G, In short, this is a gaming beast and I don’t think, you will get better gaming smartphone under 20k then Inifnix Zero 5G.

Just like every single Infinix Smartphone, this device too doesn’t have Widevine L1 Support, no Carrier Aggregation, and not even stereo speakers.

As this is a gaming smartphone, the cameras are also not that great but again, the cameras are useable.

Overall, for the price of Rs 19,999, Infinix Zero 5G is a value-for-money device, the smartphone is not for everyone, so if you wanted a powerful smartphone under 20k then go for it but if you wanted a balanced smartphone then take look at this list.

Display Quality

The Infinix Zero 5G comes with a 6.78-inches 120Hz LTPS display with a pick brightness of 500 nits and a 240Hz touch sampling rate.

This is an FHD+ display and yet, it doesn’t have Widevine L1 Support which means, you won’t able to watch FHD+ content on OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+hotstar.

Now, Infinix can add Widevine L1 Support through an OTA update but as of now, there is no clearance from Infinix about the same.

For those who don’t know, the LTPS display is better than the LCD panel, in short, it sits between AMOLED and LCD.

Also, the smartphone brightness could have been better, it’s good to display panels but it’s not very bright.

Overall, the display quality is good but Infinix needs to add Widevine L1 support otherwise, you have to watch movies at 480p only.

Performance

This is where Infinix put their all money.

The device is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC and it runs on XOS 10 based on Android 11. This is where I feel, Infinix should have launched the smartphone with Android 12.

We have seen, MediaTek Dimensity 900 in many smartphones and most of the smartphones are priced at about 27k to 30k, and Inifnix is given the same chipset at only 20k.

So yes, this is a mid-budget chipset given in budget device.

Now, if you’re a gamer then don’t think much, this is the best smartphone you can buy for gaming for under Rs 20,000 in India.

Infinix Zero 5G Benchmark Score

5G Bands: n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n77, n78, and n79

By the way, the BGMI game is playable at smooth at the extreme frame rate and HDR at the ultra frame rate.

The device is available in 8GB of Ram and 128GB of storage. Now, most smartphone under 20k has UFS 2.0 storage and LPDDR4x Ram support but Infinix has gone with LPDDR5 Ram and UFS 3.1 storage support.

This means the smartphone will feel smooth while scrolling through apps.

Overall, for the price of Rs 19,999, this won’t be the best camera smartphone but this is the best gaming smartphone available in India.

Cameras

I don’t know why but most mobile brands are skipping the ultra-wide lens under Rs 20,000 in India which is not the best thing.

Now, Infinix Zero 5G does the same.

It has a 48 MP primary sensor, 13 MP Portrait Lens (2x Optical), and 2MP macro sensor while there 16MP selfie shooter on the front side.

The rear camera can shoot videos at 4k@30fps, 1080p@30/60fps while the front can shoot at only 1080p@30fps.

It doesn’t have OIS support but it does have EIS support which works fine as usual.

Now, I don’t expect the camera to be great as this is a gaming smartphone and you shouldn’t too.

The 48MP primary sensor takes good quality images but sometimes, there is some issue with dynamic range. It’s hit or miss, sometimes, the image comes out very good, and sometimes, it’s not even useable.

Also, the sensor tries to add a little bit of extra green color.

That 13 MP Portrait Lens has 2x optical zoom but doesn’t expect much, the sensor tries to boost the colors at 2x which is not a good experience.

I feel Infinix should have added an ultra-wide instant of Portrait Lens. This Portrait Lens doesn’t do much.

Infinix has also added a 2MP macro sensor which is there, ignore.

Coming to the front side, it has a 16MP selfie shooter, and it’s not that great. The images come out white and boosted which means, there is no need to use filters.

Again, the front camera also has some issues with dynamic range.

Overall, I can say this, this smartphone has the best cameras of all the budget Infinix smartphones but if we compare Infinix Zero 5G with other smartphones, it doesn’t stand out.

It has a decent camera with a powerful processor, let’s leave it there.

Audio Quality

The Infinix Zero 5G doesn’t have stereo speakers, the single bottom speaker does work but again, it is a single speaker.

It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone. Most of the Infinix smartphone doesn’t have carrier aggregation support and the same can be said for Infinix Zero 5G too.

I don’t know why but Infinix doesn’t like carrier aggregation.

As this is a budget smartphone, Infinix has added a 3.5mm audio jack.

Overall, the sound quality is good and there are no issues with call quality too.

Battery life

The Infinix Zero 5G comes with a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The 33W charger will take about 60 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.

Overall, the battery should last for the day because of the processor but in the end, it depends on you, and how you use your smartphone every day.

You can also use the 33W charger, so even if the battery doesn’t last for a day then they will be charged in 60 minutes.

Now, Infinix has made some compromises which you already know, there is no Widevine L1 support, no Carrier Aggregation support, the cameras are decent, and no stereo speakers but yes, it has a powerful processor which helps a lot while gaming.

This can’t be called an overpriced smartphone, is a value-for-money device, it is just that, Infinix is targeting a different audience.

Still, if you’re confused then do let me know in the comments.
