Samsung Galaxy F23 5G Review

Yes, Samsung Galaxy F23 5G is worth buying for Samsung users only, it’s not a value money device, so if you only wanted Samsung branded smartphone then consider the Galaxy F23 5G otherwise, we have better options like RealMe 9 Pro and even Motorola G71 5G too.

The Galaxy F23 5G is priced at Rs 17,499 and yet it has a TFT display, that old waterdrop notch and there is no charger in this box.

And the funny thing is, Samsung has provided Type-C to Type-C cable which means, the cable won’t work with a regular USB-A charger, you have to buy Samsung Branded charger which will cost about Rs 2,000.

Overall, buy Galaxy F23 5G only if you want Samsung branded phone otherwise, skip this smartphone.

Display Quality

The Galaxy F23 5G comes with a 6.60-inches FHD+ TFT display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels while it has a 120Hz screen refresh rate.

There is no doubt, the 120Hz refresh rate helps a lot in day-to-day life but that TFT display is not acceptable at Rs 17,499 price tag.

The front is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 while the frame and back is made out of plastic.

By the way, if you can see it, there is a waterdrop notch on the front side. Now, I don’t like the waterdrop notch, it’s okay if the smartphone is priced at 10k but at 18k, this is not a thing to have.

It also has Widevine L1 support which means, you will be able to watch FHD+ content on OTT apps.

Overall, for the price of Rs 17,499, Galaxy F23 5G doesn’t have the best display or best build quality. Maybe, LCD would have been a better option because this is priced at 18k.

Performance

We have seen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor on many smartphones, and Samsung have used the same processor on the Galaxy F23 5G.

The phone runs on OneUI 4.1 based on Android 12, Samsung has promised 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates.

After the Pixel UI, Samsung has the best UI, so there won’t be any kind of issue with the software. Now, Samsung has pre-installed some of the third-party apps which can be uninstalled but hey, it’s there and you have to manually uninstall all of the apps.

By the way, the performance is great, there won’t be any kind of issue while playing games or even using smartphones in day-to-day life.

Samsung has also added 12 5G bands which is a great thing to have because 5G is about to launch in India in 2023.

Cameras

The device comes with a 50MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 2MP macro sensor while there is an 8MP selfie shooter on the front. Both the rear and front cameras can shoot videos at 1080p@30fps.

There is no support for OIS, it relies on EIS which works fine.

Now, ignore that 2MP sensor, it won’t do much, it’s added for numbers, nothing else.

The 50MP primary sensor takes some good image under good light, the details are good, no issue with dynamic range but when it comes to night, the sensor suffer a little bit.

Samsung has added night mode but still, the image doesn’t look as good as Rs 17,499 price tag.

This can be provided with OTA updates and I hope, they fix this issue very soon.

That 8MP ultra-wide lens is kind of okay, it would have been better if they have provided 16MP ultra-wide.

The ultra-wide sensor takes a good image but it misses out on details as this is a smaller sensor, can’t complain much.

Also, keep in mind, don’t use an ultra-wide sensor at night because the image won’t be useable as it will lose out on details.

Coming to front cameras, the image will be far away from natural colors, Samsung is added a little bit while colors and making other colors pop out.

This is what most of budget smartphones are doing and Samsung is doing the same but I would have loved to see, a little bit of optimization.

Overall, for the price of Rs 17,499, the Galaxy F23 5G doesn’t have the best cameras, Samsung needs to work on the cameras to justify the price tag.

Still, if you’re a fan of Samsung and wanted the best Samsung smartphone under 20k then do consider the Galaxy F23 5g otherwise,e it is not a value-for-money device.

Audio Quality

The phone doesn’t have stereo speakers, Samsung has provided a single bottom-firing speaker.

The single speaker is loud enough to watch YouTube videos or even movies without earphones but still, Samsung should have provided stereo speakers.

It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone along with carrier aggregation which will help a lot in calls.

By the way, Samsung has also added a 3.5mm audio jack which is another plus point.

Overall, the audio and even call quality are good, with no complaints.

Battery Life

Here comes the key part,

Samsung Galaxy F23 5G comes with a 5,000 mAh battery with 25W fast charging support but the phone doesn’t come with a charger, you have to buy a 25W charger separately.

By the way, Samsung branded 25W charger will cost you about Rs 1,999. Also, the cable you get with the smartphone is Type-C to Type-C, so if you have a USB-A charger then it won’t work with the cable, you have to buy a new one.

Coming to battery life,

The battery will last for a day, depending on how you use the smartphone. Now, if you’re a heavy user then you will have to charge this smartphone two times a day.
