Redmi Note 11s Review

Redmi Note 11s Review

Redmi Note 11 Series is here and this time, it’s not as good as Redmi Note 10 Series, Redmi has made lots of compromises when it comes to Redmi Note 11s.

Redmi Note 11s Price in India

The Redmi Note 11s is priced at 16,499 for 6GB of Ram and 64GB storage while 6GB Ram + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 17,499, now if you want an extra 2GB Ram then you can also pay Rs 18,499 and you will get 8GB Ram + 128GB storage variant.

The device is available in Space Black, Stardust White, and Horizon Blue color options and it will go for sale on 21st February 2022 via Amazon at noon.

Redmi Note 11s Review

No, the Redmi Note 11s is not worth buying because it’s an overpriced smartphone, the specifications don’t justify the Rs 16,499 price tag, overall, if you wanted Redmi branded phone then this could be a good option otherwise, don’t waste your money on a Redmi Note 11s.

The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G96 which is a good SoC but it’s not worth the Rs 16,499, you can get the same SoC at 13k too.

The cameras are also not that great, that 108MP sensor is added for marketing, don’t get carried away by the bigger pixel.

Now, the display quality is good, it has a 6.43-inches 90Hz AMOLED display which is a great thing to have but again, you can’t just buy a smartphone because it has a good display.

Overall, the Redmi Note 11s is an overpriced smartphone, you can just go with Motorola G51 which is available at Rs 14,999.

Redmi Note 11s Display Quality

Redmi Note 11 and 11s have the same display quality, no changes.

The Redmi Note 11s comes with a 6.40-inches 90Hz AMOLED display with a pick brightness of 1000 nits and 180Hz of the touch sampling rate.

On the rear side, it has plastic and the frame is also made out of plastic while the front is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The phone does have Widevine L1 support which means, you will be able to watch FHD+ content on OTT apps.

The good thing is, Redmi is gone with a 90Hz refresh rate which is an upgrade from the last generation.

Even the display panel is good, with no issue with viewing angle or using smartphone outdoor, that 1000 nits help a lot.

Overall, Redmi has done a good job with display and as of now, this is the only smartphone that has a 90Hz AMOLED display under 20k in India.

Redmi Note 11s Performance

We have seen MediaTek helio G96 SoC in the recently launched Infinix Note 11s and this smartphone is priced at only Rs 12,999.

Now, the same SoC is present on the Redmi Note 11s which is priced at Rs 16,499.

The Redmi Note 11s runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 11, still, no Android 12.

I’m not a big fan of MIUI but Xiaomi has done the job with MIUI 13, it’s not cleaner and simpler compared to MIUI 12 but still, it’s very heavy skin.

I will say it again, Xiaomi needs to re-design MIUI for budget smartphones like what Samsung did with OneUI. This way, the smartphone will work fine and the user didn’t need to use other skins on Xiaomi phones.

Now Redmi has also used UFS 2.2 storage and LPDD4X RAM which will give better performance in day-to-day uses.

I think you already know, the Redmi Note 11s doesn’t have 5G support but why? because MediaTek Helio G96 doesn’t have 5G support.

Overall, MediaTek Helio G96 doesn’t worth the Rs 16,499 price tag, so I would recommend you to ignore the Redmi Note 11s and look for better smartphones.

Redmi Note 11s Cameras

Redmi Note 11s has 108MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth sensor on the rear side while there is a 16MP selfie shooter on the front.

Both the rear and front cameras can shoot videos up to 1080p@30fps.

Redmi Note 11s is priced at Rs 16,499 and Redmi needed to justify the price tag, so they just added the bigger sensor.

Now, a bigger sensor doesn’t mean, better image quality, it’s good for marketing only.

If you’re thinking that a 108MP sensor will give better image quality then just stop there and let’s talk about the sensor.

Before you read further, forget about those 2MP+2MP sensors, they are added for numbers, and they won’t do much, you can see them as a showcase.

That 108MP primary sensor takes some good images in daylight and as this is a bigger sensor, the details are also very good but when it comes to night, the sensor suffers a little bit.

It misses out on details, even the night mode doesn’t do much.

Redmi needs to work on cameras to justify the Rs 16,499 price tag, as of now, this looks like a 13k smartphone camera rather than 17k.

Now, I don’t recommend a smartphone on the promise of future updates, so if you’re okay with decent cameras and you wanted the latest budget Redmi phone then you can consider the Redmi Note 11s.

The 8MP ultra-wide lens is kinda decent, it takes good images but it’s not the best. One thing to note is don’t use the ultra-wide lens at night because the ultra-wide image won’t be useable.

By the way, an ultra-wide lens does take good images in daylight but the same can’t be said for the night.

Now, as I have said, just ignore the 2MP+2MP sensors.

That 16MP selfie shooter takes good images, now, as this is priced at 17k, I expect the image to come out great but that’s not the case.

That’s said, the front-facing camera is not that bad but it’s not the best too.

Overall, Redmi needs to work a lot in the camera department. So yes, the Redmi Note 11s has a decent camera and it can get better with OTA updates but I can’t promise that because most of the time, mobile brands don’t deliver what they promise.

Redmi Note 11s Audio Quality

The Redmi Note 11s has a stereo speaker which works fine, no issues there. Its dual speakers, so can’t complain much.

It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone. The Redmi Note 11s do have carrier aggregation support.

As this is a budget smartphone, Redmi has added a 3.5mm audio jack.

Overall, the sound quality is good and there are no issues with call quality too.

Battery life

The Redmi Note 11s comes with a 5,000 mAh battery with 33Wfast charging support. The 33W charger will take about 60 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.

Overall, the battery should last for the day because of the processor but in the end, it depends on you, how you use your smartphone every day.

You can also use the 33W charger, so even if the battery doesn’t last for a day then the will be charged in 60 minutes.

Verdict
