RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G Review

What device, isn’t it?

The RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G has lots of flows, from ads to downgraded cameras and even price too.

RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G Price in India

The device is available in Dark Matter, Hyperspace Gold, and Nebula Blue color options and it will go for sale on 14th December 2022 via Flipkart at noon.

So let’s see in this RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G review whether it’s worth the Rs 24999 price tag or just a re-brand of the RealMe 9 Pro Plus with a curved display.

Love to read books, check out BookiesTalk where you can read books for free. You will also get to download PDFs for Free and some book recommendations too. So, see you there.

RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G Review

No, the RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G is not worth buying because it has below-average cameras, no OIS, a decent processor, and still, it’s priced at Rs 24999 which is not acceptable at all. However, if you want a good-looking smartphone with a curved display and if you can pay 25k for that then do consider it.

Hear me,

You don’t need a curved display but still, if you want to use it then keep in mind, you’re paying a bit premium for display and losing out on cameras, build, and processor.

The curved panel is a selling point of RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G and that’s what RealMe is marketing. So think for a second and ask yourself, is curved enough to sacrifice the cameras, build, and processor?

Also, I would suggest you wait for Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus and after that, make any decision.

Concluding everything from price to features, RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G is a well-made smartphone but it’s a bit pricey other than that the cameras are not great, missing OIS, and plastic build and even the processor is not a very powerful for the price it comes.

Display

The RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G comes with a 6.70-inches curved 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 394ppi.

On the back, it has plastic, the frame is made from metal while there is no mention of what kind of display protection has been used on the front.

The curved display,

Yes, it does look good but you also have to be careful with it because the curved display will get stretched very easily, and if you drop the phone then there is a chance of breaking the display.

Also, use a better screen protector along with a strong case cover otherwise that curved beauty will fade away. Keep in mind, we don’t know what kind of display protection RealMe has used, so can’t really comment on the durability of the front panel.

The display also has a pick brightness of 800 nits which is not the best, the 1000 nits would have been better as this is of the standard at the 25k price range. Nonetheless, there won’t be any kind of problem while using the smartphone outdoors.

The build quality is kind of okay, the plastic of the back doesn’t feel premium at all while no mention of display protection is a big question about the durability of the front panel.

RealMe has also added HDR10+ support but as of now, it doesn’t support on Netflix, Prime Video, or even on Display+Hotstar. The good news is, HDR is supported on YouTube.

The in-display fingerprint is well-made, there is no problem here.

Overall, the display is the selling point of RealMe 10 Pro Plus but still, this is not the best display when we compared it with Motorola Edge 30 5G.

Performance

The RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G had the MediaTek Dimensity 920 while the newly launched RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G has the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC.

Fun Fact,

Both Dimensity 920 and 1080 SoC is almost the same and provide the same performance, so you won’t notice a difference in real life. In short, it’s a minor upgrade.

Also, the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 is not powerful as Snapdragon 778G.

Back to the RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G,

The device runs on RealMe UI 4.0 based on Android 13 while Realme has promised 2 years of OS and 3 years of a security update.

The Android 13 doesn’t come with new features rather it fixes the bugs of Android 12.

Now, read this very carefully,

RealMe has added hall lot of pre-installed apps in the RealMe 10 Pro Plus along with the app, the phone also has ads in the UI from stock apps to the system search.

Now, you can disable the ads (not 100%) but the ads will show up by default to everyone. The problem is, every user won’t know how to disable ads, so they will use it like that.

In short, this is not a good user experience even after paying Rs 24999. For a better understanding, I will YouTube Video, so make sure you watch it, spoiler, it’s very bad (the ad stuff).

The device comes with 9 5G Bands, so yes, you will able to take advantage of the 5G network whenever it launches in your city.

Gaming part,

You heard it right, the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 is not a gaming processor, so don’t buy this or any other smartphone that has Dimensity 1080 for gaming.

Now, you will able to play games like COD Mobile or even PUBG New state but the gaming experience won’t be too good.

In short, don’t buy RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G for gaming, the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 is a decent processor and it can handle day-to-day tasks but don’t expect much. The UI is refreshed but comes with ads and Bloatware.

Cameras

There is nothing much to talk about because RealMe has messed-up everything…

The RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G comes with 108MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 2MP macro lens while there is a 16MP selfie shooter on the front. The rear cameras can shoot videos at 4@30fps, and 1080p@30/60fps while the front can only shoot at 1080p@30fps.

Another fun fact,

RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G had the OIS while RealMe removed the OIS from RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G.

Yes, OIS is a good feature that can help a lot in video recording along with photography too.

So if you want to buy RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G, just because of the cameras then don’t because it has pathetic cameras compared to the last generation.

The Videos,

Lack of OIS does hurt when you shoot videos while walking, the videos are not stabilized at all even after using the EIS. The colors are over-saturated as well, in short, it doesn’t provide the natural colors.

Now, RealMe added the whopping 108MP sensor but that doesn’t mean, it will shoot better videos, it’s added for marketing and that’s it.

While the front 8MP sensor takes mostly whiter videos.

All in all, it’s a huge letdown in terms of videos after the RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G.

The Photography,

The 108MP primary sensor is there for marketing, it won’t provide the 108MP like images in real life.

Now, when you take images under good lights then the 108MP does provide good images but that too with oversaturation. Also, when taking images of the human subject, the images will have a white tint.

So yes, the images are nowhere near to actual human skin.

By the way, yes, the camera can be improved with an OTA update but as far as I have seen, mobile brands don’t work that much on the software side of things when it comes to budget smartphones. Still, let’s wait and watch…

The Ultra-Wide Lens,

Be thankful to RealMe that they added the Ultra-Wide lens because RealMe 10 Pro 5G doesn’t have the ultra-wide lens.

Now, the quality of the ultra-wide lens is not good at all, you will be disappointed with how it captures the images under low lights and even under good lighting.

It adds too much noise under the low lights and softens the images, in a short, ultra-wide lens is not usable under low lights.

The front camera,

Ohh, I ignored the 2MP macro sensor, so should you…

The 16MP front camera is the same as ultra-wide lens, it’s useable under good lights but when it comes to night or low lights, you will hate yourself for buying this smartphone as hoping that the camera won’t be bad.

By the way, RealMe is a kind of sub-brand of OPPO, so you will get all the selfie features from battery mode to all the filters.

The opinion,

If RealMe didn’t want to focus much on the cameras then it would have been better to just add the same camera and feature as RealMe 9 Pro Plus 5G in the RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G. The problem is, they didn’t and we’re here with these average cameras.

The verdict

Now, it’s not like, RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G has garbage cameras, it’s just that, it doesn’t suit the Rs 24999 price tag.

Check out the camera samples of the RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G (G Drive Link).

Audio

The stereo speakers are solid, so yes, you won’t be disappointed at all. The only missing thing is a 3.5mm audio jack other than that, there is nothing to complain about.

Yes, the phone does have Carrier Aggregation support along with Bluetooth 5.2 & NFC for better connectivity.

Battery Life

The MediaTek Dimensity 1080 is battery efficient processor, so there is nothing to worry about it. The 5,000mAH battery will easily last for a day for bit heavy users but if you’re a normal user then it can also last for two days.

On top of that, the 67W charging does help, it will only take 17 minutes to charge from 0% to 50%. The only thing is, you will have to carry the 80W charger with you which RealMe has provided in the box.

I know you want to ask a question, so here is the answer…

The phone supports a 67W charger but for some reason, RealMe has supplied the 80W charger in the box.

Now, I have provided the rough numbers, so the real battery life can change user by user.

Summary

RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G is a good-looking smartphone with a 120Hz curved AMOLED panel but that’s it, there is nothing more to this smartphone. The cameras are average, the plastic back doesn’t feel good, and the UI is smooth but has ads, while the Rs 24999 price tag is not justifiable for what RealMe is offering.

3.4
