OPPO’s reno series has always been on the premium side, so OPPO Reno 8T 5G price doesn’t surprise me at all but it is true that this is a Highly Overpriced smartphone.

OPPO Reno 8T 5G Price in India

The OPPO Reno 8T 5G is available in only 8GB of Ram and 128GB storage which is priced at Rs 29,999. It comes in Sunrise Gold and Midnight Black color option and it will go for sale on 10th February 2023 via Flipkart.

Design

Design is the key selling point of OPPO Reno 8T 5G, however, the device has a plastic frame that doesn’t feel or look premium from any angle.

On the back, OPPO has used glass which looks fantastic, and on top of that, its matt finish which takes the design and finish to another level.

The device has 171 grams of weight, so even if you use a smartphone continuously for 2 to 3 hours then your finger or wrist won’t hurt much.

So without any doubt, the OPPO Reno 8T has the best design under Rs 30,000 in India along with that, the curved 120hz AMOLED display takes the design to another dimension.

Display

The OPPO Reno 8T 5G comes with a 6.70-inches 120Hz curved AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels and pick a brightness of 950 nits, OPPO has also added the in-display fingerprint which works fine as always.

The display quality is solid but be very careful with this kind of display because if you even drop this device from a sofa or chair then that beautiful curved AMOLED panel will break easily.

So yes, the curved display looks good but you have to be careful while using the smartphone otherwise, it will cost a lot to get a new AMOLED panel.

We have seen the same design in RealMe 10 Pro Plus 5G and Personally, I’m not a big fan of the curved display, I prefer the flat panel.

Also, the 950 pick brightness is sufficient enough to use the smartphone outdoors.

Overall, the OPPO Reno 8T 5G has a solid display which does justify the Rs 29,999 price.

Performance

We have iQOO Z6 Lite 5G which is priced at Rs 14,999 and powered by Snapdragon 695 processor.

Now we have the same chipset in the newly launched OPPO Reno 8T 5G but the cache is, this is priced at Rs 29,999, double the price of iQOO Z6 Lite 5G.

To make it simple, the Snapdragon 695 is not a powerful processor, so if you wanted to buy a gaming smartphone under Rs 30,000 then kindly stay away from OPPO Reno 8T 5G.

The chip can handle a little bit of gaming but if you play games for 30 to 60 minutes continually then the phone will get hot and you will see the frame drops here and there.

OPPO has also added 13 5G bands which includes n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n66, n77, and n78.

The phone runs on ColorOS 13 based on Android 13. Now, there is no mention of how many OS updates the phone will get, so can’t really say about future updates.

You will also see ads in the stock OPPO apps which you can disable but by default, you will see ads along with lots of bloatware.

So even after paying 30k, OPPO will show you ads which is not a good user experience.

Concluding everything from price to performance, the OPPO Reno 8T 5G is not worth a 30k price tag, so for gaming or heavy usage, this is not the best option but for normal usage like social media or calling, this might be a good option to consider.

Cameras

OPPO reno 8T 5G’s Cameras look like a big thing but it’s not when we tested them in real life.

The phone comes with 108MP primary sensor, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor while there is a 32MP selfie shooter on the front. Both the rear and front cameras can shoot videos at only 1080p@30fps.

First of all, let’s just remove the 2MP+2MP sensors because they’re added for design and looks.

Back to the 108MP sensor,

By the way, the device doesn’t have OIS support, everything relies on EIS.

Now, this is a typical OPPO camera, the color comes saturated while when it comes to low-light photography, the sensor adds a bit of softness.

In short, this is social media-ready cameras, there is no need to edit images before posting, just take a photo and upload the same on Instagram.

Personally, I don’t like unnatural images, I prefer natural images but most of the OPPO users will love the Reno 8T 5G as the phone has everything that they wanted in cameras.

OPPO has also added a dedicated night mode which works like charm, no issue there but it adds a bit of extra noise, the reason is very simple, the sensor tries to overexpose the background bit.

Again, there is no OIS, so the videos won’t come stable, so technically, you can choose videos but they won’t be very useful if you’re taking them while walking.

Talking about the 32MP selfie shooter,

This has OPPO’s magic, this is again is a social media-ready sensor. Take a photo and that’s your image, no need to edit at all.

I mean what else can I say about the OPPO’s front camera, it’s the best selfie camera you can get under 30k.

Concluding everything from price to cameras, the OPPO Reno 8T 5G doesn’t have the best cameras under 30k nor does it justifies the 30k price tag, the cameras are good for those who wanted to only buy OPPO’s smartphone but for those who want the value for money device, this isn’t the best option to consider.

Audio

Thankfully, OPPO has added stereo speakers which sounds good but there is no 3.5mm audio jack present on Reno 8T 5G.

It also has 4 x 4 MIMO Carrier Aggregation, now, this will help a lot, if the phone is not getting a strong network.

In short, there is nothing to worry about the audio, the phone has the best speakers under 30k and it does work well.

Battery Life

The OPPO Reno 8T 5G has a 4,800mAh battery with 67W fast charging and yes, the charging has been supplied in the box, so there is no need to buy it separately.

The 67W charger will take about 44 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%, also, you will need the same 67W charger otherwise, you won’t be able to take advantage of the fast charging.

The Snapdragon 695 is power efficient processor, so expect the battery to last for a day but if you’re a very heavy user then you will have to charge the OPPO reno 8T 5G twice a day.

OPPO Reno 8T 5G Review

No, the OPPO Reno 8T 5G is not worth buying because there is nothing in this smartphone that justifies the Rs 29,999 price tag, it has a good design and curved panel other than that, it’s an average smartphone that is available at a premium price tag in India.

Summary

The OPPO Reno 8T 5G is targeted towards power-hungry users nor towards camera-centric users, it’s made for those users who wanted to buy good-looking smartphones with a curved display and are willing to pay a premium for it.
