RealMe 7 Pro Review with Pros and Cons

RealMe 7 Pro FAQs

Images: RealMe

RealMe 7 Series is here and this time, it’s a bit expensive than last year’s 6 Series. So you have to spend some extra money to get newly launched 7 series smartphone but RealMe has also provided some good features which you won’t find in any other budget smartphones.

So today let’s take a closer look at RealMe 7 Pro and see why RealMe is charging Rs 19,999 for Pro version. By the way, RealMe 7 Pro is by far the expensive mid-budget smartphone from RealMe. Before you jump into the review, let me tell you the RealMe 7 Pro India price.

The first sale of RealMe 7 Pro is on 14th September 2020 through Flipkart.

RealMe 7 Pro Display Quality

RealMe 7 Pro comes with a 6.40 inches FHD+ display with 60Hz screen refresh rate, so no high refresh rate screen like last year but it’s AMOLED screen. The phone also comes with a 180Hz touch sampling rate as well as 600 nits peak brightness that means the phone will be useable under the extreme sunlight.

RealMe has provided good quality display but it has only 60Hz refresh rate which could be deal-breaker for some people. This is an AMOLED display that means, the black colour will be black, it won’t feel different colour like you see on the LCD panel. It is an advantage with AMOLED display but still, this display can’t be compared with Galaxy M31s.

It’s like, no company will give you a perfect smartphone that said, RealMe 7 Pro has a good quality display. 60Hz screen in 2020 feels outdated now because most of the games started supporting 90Hz screen.

Overall, I haven’t had any problem with RealMe 7 Pro display. The only things I didn’t like is 60Hz screen refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 3 for display protection. I mean RealMe didn’t even mention what version of Gorilla glass they have used on RealMe 7 Pro and then I did some research and I found out that it’s Gorilla Glass 3.

Cost cutting is everywhere.

RealMe 7 Pro Build Quality

It’s Rs 19,999 smartphone that means it will have the glass unibody but it’s not the case with RealMe 7 Pro. The phone comes with a polycarbonate back while corning gorilla glass 3 on the front side. Using a good quality case would be a great idea because the phone won’t survive if you accidentally drop.

If you hold Realme 7 Pro for the first time then you can’t tell it’s glass or plastic because it’s polycarbonate. I don’t mind plastic body but if I’m paying 20k then I want glass uni-body even in a budget smartphone. Overall, if you have used polycarbonate back then you won’t have any problem but it’s plastic.

Like Gorilla Glass 3, RealMe didn’t mention that Pro version to have the plastic build which is kind of misleading because RealMe did say that Realme 7 has a polycarbonate back, so people will assume Pro versions has a glass back.

In short, if you’re okay with plastic then you won’t have any problem.

RealMe 7 Pro Performance

RealMe 7 Pro is powered by well-tested Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G which is also available on RealMe 6 Pro. It’s not upgraded but it’s also not the downgrade too. At 20k Snapdragon 720G is not a good option but hey, the phone also has 65W dart charging support, so it’s even but is it? do let me know…

Geekbench Score

Antutu benchmark: 411377

Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G is a good processor and it will handle most of the tasks without any problem even you can play Call of Duty Mobile without any issues. Things get a little tricky when you play games like COD for an hour or two, the phone gets warp and you will able to see legs here and there.

The chip is good but it’s not good when it’s available at 20k. RealMe could have thorn Snapdragon 730G but they wanted to give 65W charging speed, so they just went with same 720G chip.

In the end, it depends on you whether you want fastest charger or value for money smartphone. If you ask me, I’m using OnePlus 7T for while now and this phone has 30W fast charging, what I’m saying, it’s better to have good performance rather then fastest charging speed.

Overall, if you buy RealMe 7 Pro, you won’t face big performance issues because the phone has good processor, not the best at 20k but good.

RealMe 7 Pro Cameras

The RealMe 7 Pro comes with rear 64MP Sony IMX682 sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth but that 2-2MP sensor is just there for marketing, those sensors won’t make a huge difference. It also has a 32MP selfie shooter which is good for selfie lovers.

Before I say anything about camera quality, let me tell you one thing. That 2MP+2MP sensor is just for the showcase, so don’t think that the phone has quad cameras, in reality, the phone has only dual camera setup.

RealMe has used all-new 64MP Sony IMX682 sensor which will give the best images quality and that you can see on the images. So the main sensor and ultra-wide lens are just amazing. Here I would say, RealMe has done a good job but still, I feel like it’s close POCO X2 cameras.

This is a newly launched phone and after getting some update, the camera will improve. Overall, RealMe 7 Pro has the best camera quality below 20k. I will update this when POCO X3 comes because as per rumours, POCO X3 will come under 20k with Snapdragon 732G processor.

1 / 6

By the way, RealMe 7 Pro can shoot videos in 4K@30fps,1080p@30/120fps with the rear camera while the front camera can only shoot in 1080p@30fps. Also, this is the first budget centric smartphone to feature night video recording option which is similar to night-mode but in video formats.

RealMe has also added tons of filter which can be used on night-mode too, so if you use a filter when taking images then this could well feature to play with.

RealMe 7 Pro Audio Quality

RealMe 7 Pro does have the stereo speakers but it’s just two speakers. I can’t call it stereo because it can’t go as the load as it should. But hey, at least the phone has stereo speaker because most of the phone budget phone only comes with a mono speaker.

Also, RealMe 7 Pro has secondary notice cancelling microphone and this is huge because RealMe 7 doesn’t have the secondary microphone. It’s good to see in the Pro version. There is nothing more to say because I have said, what you have to know. One thing I forget to tell you, the phone also has the 3.5mm audio jack.

RealMe 7 Pro Battery Life

I always say battery life depends on a user by the user but this time it doesn’t matter because the phone comes with 65W super-fast charging support which is also included in the box. Even if you run out of battery, that 65W charger can charge the phone 0% to 100% in 34 Minute.

“the battery life depends on your phone use if you every day play games for 6 hours then you need to charge a phone in every 6 hours but if you’re like me and don’t use the phone very often then it will last for a day or so”

RealMe 7 Pro: Verdict

RealMe 7 Pro is a good smartphone but it’s priced at Rs 19,999 and that’s where I feel, it’s better to skip but still if you want that 65W dart fast charging support then it is a good option. It has Snapdragon 720G processor, 4500 mAh battery, plastic build, 65W charging speed, and bit improved camera.

Do I recommend RealMe 7 Pro

No, I don’t recommend RealMe 7 Pro because it’s just phone with 65W charging speed, there is nothing more in this phone but still, it’s priced at 20k. RealMe is charging some extra money for that faster charging speed, now if you put that charging speed aside then it’s just 15k smartphone.

In the end, it depend on you whether you willing to pay 5k more for that 65W charger or not? because I won’t…
