Nothing Ear 1 Review – Beauty with Brain

Carl Pei, founder of OnePlus is back with a new brand and it’s called Nothing. For now, Nothing brand has only one product which is Nothing Ear 1 and this is what we’re about to review here.

Carl Pei has also acquired the Essential Smartphone brand, so we might see Nothing Smartphone but for now, let’s focus on Nothing Ear 1 whether it’s worth Rs 5999.

Nothing Ear 1 Review

Nothing Ear 1 features 11.6 audio drivers which perform the best at this price tag. It produces the best sound quality while it also has ANC but that’s not as good as Nothing has marketed.

The Nothing Ear 1 lasts for 3.5 hours with a full charge which is not a great battery but still, at a 6k price tag, can’t really complain. Overall, Nothing Ear 1 is the best TWS earbuds you can buy at Rs 5,999 in India and it’s worth buying.

Nothing Ear 1: Sound

This is what, you wanted to know, whether Nothing Ear 1 sounds good or not?

The answer is, yes Nothing Ear 1 sounds better than any other TWS earbuds around a Rs 6,000 price tag, even though I would say, it has the best sound quality under the 10k price tag in India.

The buds also have ANC which works fine but it’s not as good as AirPod Pro. Also, considering the price tag, I won’t complain about the ANC.

Still, if you wanted ANC-like 25k TWS earbuds then you will be disappointed.

By the way, Nothing Ear 1 comes with 11.6 Dynamic Drivers and Bluetooth 5.2 support.

Talking about bass, the buds do have a good amount of bass which is good as it doesn’t mess with the quality of the music. The surprising thing is, Nothing Ear 1 is very loud and I feel, that if you buy this earbud then you won’t be listing to music above 60% volume.

Even at 60% or 80% volume, sound doesn’t leak out which is a very good thing.

Nothing Ear (1) App

Nothing has also launched the app for Nothing Ear 1 which is called Ear (1), it’s available for Android and iOS devices.

The Nothing Ear (1) app is under development, so it doesn’t have all the features like controlling Siri or Google Assistant but you can control the ANC and see the battery percentage of the bud or case.

One feature I liked is, finding earbuds, so the Nothing Ear 1 has speakers on each bud which is quite loud. So if you lost one earbud then you can use the Ear (1) app and tap on find earbuds and the earbud will make a sound.

The app will have all the other future like an audio equalizer or controlling Siri or Google Assistant but when? no one knows.

In short, if your budget is Rs 5,999 and you want the best TWS earbuds in India then I would recommend you to go with Nothing Ear 1, you won’t be disappointed after buying it.

Nothing Ear 1: Design

This is a unique product, you may have seen Transparent designs in TWS earbuds before but this is something else.

Nothing has partnered with Teenage Engineering and they have created this Nothing Ear 1 design looks better than any other TWS earbuds whether 20k or 25k earbuds.

By the way, the Nothing ear 1 fits perfectly in the ears, so there won’t be an issue but still, I won’t recommend these TWS earbuds for workouts.

I can only tell you, how they look or feel but in the end, it depends on you whether this is something you will like or not.

Now, I am a bit consent about the color here because of this Transparent design, so it might get yellow after some time. I will let you know after a month or year, whether Nothing Ear 1 stays the same or not.

There is nothing more to say about design because it is beyond amazing. Now I don’t have words to describe it, there you have it, like it or hate, this is what, Carl Pei wanted to do with Nothing Ear 1.

Nothing Ear 1 has a 31 mAh battery while the case has a 590 mAh battery. The battery life is not as good as compared to other TWS earbuds but the weight of a single bud is only 4.6 grams and that’s the reason for the smaller battery.

Still, I would have loved to see 5 hours of battery life with a single bud.

By the way, the Nothing Ear 1 also has wireless charging support and with wired charging, it can give about 1 hour of battery backup with a bud and 7 hours with a charging case.

In short, the battery life is not that great but the buds are also lightweight, so can’t really complain. Still, if the buds run out of battery then it also has fast charging support.

Conclusion: Buy or Not?

If your budget is Rs 5,999 and if you want the best-sounding TWS earbuds with a unique design then just go for Nothing Ear 1. The buds do have their pros and cons but the Cons won’t affect the sound quality.

For a second, let’s say, Nothing Ear 1 was launched by Samsung or Apple, what would be the price?

What I’m saying is, Nothing Ear 1 is something new in TWS earbuds space and it’s good too. So from MobileDrop, it’s a big yes for Nothing Ear 1, you won’t be disappointed after buying it, go for it.

Advantages of Nothing Ear 1

Nothing Ear 1 comes with 11.6 Dynamic Driver and Bluetooth 5.2 support. It also has ANC and wireless charging support along with wired fast charging. The Nothing Ear 1 has a Transparent design which looks different in a good way.

Disadvantages of Nothing Ear 1

The Nothing Ear 1 does have ANC support but it’s good very good while it also has an Ear (1) app where the earbuds can be controlled but the apps also miss out on features. As these are lightweight earbuds, the battery life is not that great.
