OnePlus 9RT 5G Review with Pros and Cons – Average

OnePlus 9RT 5G Review

OnePlus 9RT 5G

I use to love OnePlus, just because of Oxygen OS but now that OnePlus is moving to Color OS, I’m not feeling well about the OnePlus Phones, your views might be different, so let’s go there and take look at the newly launched OnePlus 9RT 5G.

The OnePlus 9RT 5G will kill the OnePlus 9 and 9R because 9RT 5G has better specs and it’s available at a lower price too. Now, before we begin the review and you fund out Pros and Cons, let’s tell you the India price of the OnePlus 9RT 5G.

OnePlus 9RT 5G Price in India

OnePlus 9RT 5G Review

Yes, the OnePlus 9RT 5G is worth buying but it’s a bit pricey compared to its competition, it does have a smooth 120Hz display, powerful Snapdragon 888 SoC, superfast 65W fast charging support but the cameras are average compared to price.

We have quite of few options under 50k, like Galaxy S20 FE 5G, Moto Edge 20 Pro, RealMe GT Neo 2, Vivo X70 Pro, or better, wait for Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G which is launching on 19th January 2022.

Overall, the OnePlus 9RT 5G should have launched below 40k. Still, if you want a powerful smartphone for gaming and you don’t care much about the cameras then this could good option.

Still, the OnePlus 9RT 5G is not a bad smartphone, the only two things are, it doesn’t have the best camera compared to its price while the phone will run on Color OS, so no Oxygen OS.

Display Quality

The OnePlus 9RT 5G comes with a 6.62-inches 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

The phone has Corning Gorilla Glass on the front and back while the frame is made out of metal. By the way, the back has matt-finish which means, it’s fingerprint-resistant.

It also has Widnevine L1 support, so you will be able to watch FHD+ contact on OTT apps.

As the phone has an AMOLED display, OnePlus has added an in-display fingerprint sensor which works fine, it’s fast and accurate, no issue.

Overall, the OnePlus has used a good quality display panel, so whether you want to play games or watch movies, you won’t face any problems.

Performance

OnePlus 9RT 5G is powered by the well-known flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and runs on Oxygen OS 11-based on Android 1, the phone will get Android 12, no one knows.

By the way, with the Android 12, the OnePlus 9RT 5G will migrate to ColorOS, so if you’re planning to buy the OnePlus 9RT 5G for the Oxygen OS then don’t because it won’t be the same with the Android 12 update.

Even with the current Oxygen OS, OnePlus has added tons of ColorOS features.

Oxygen OS was a key part of the OnePlus smartphone and most of the people were buying OnePlus Phones for the clean software experience but now, it feels, the experience won’t be the same after the Android 12 Update.

By the way, as the phone is powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC, there won’t be any kind of problem while playing games or even using smartphones in day to day life, the OS is also smooth.

So if you wanted to buy a new smartphone for gaming then yes, OnePlus 9RT 5G could be a good option.

Also, OnePlus has added support for eight 5G bands, so whenever 5G launches in India, the OnePlus 9RT 5G will be capable to use 5G.

Overall, if you ask me, I won’t buy the new OnePlus Phone because of the OS, I was a big fan OnePlus and I have used OnePlus phones but it feels like, it’s time to move on.

Cameras

The OnePlus 9RT 5G comes with a 50MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 2MP macro lens while on the front, it has a 16MP selfie shooter. The Rear cameras can shoot videos up to 4k@60fps while the front can shoot at only 1080p@30fps.

The 50MP primary sensor has OIS support which will help a lot in video recording.

Now, OIS is kind of rare around a 40k price tag but OnePlus has provided OIS which good thing.

The videos will come out good, the dynamic range is also good but keeps in mind, OnePlus tries to boost the colours, little bit other than that, no complaints about videos.

The 50MP sensor also takes some good images under good light but it doesn’t provide the best images all the time, it’s a miss or hit situation.

Sometimes you will feel, OnePlus 9RT 5G has the best camera and sometimes you will feel like, 20k smartphone can take better phones than this.

1 / 6

So it’s an issue with optimization which can be fixed but it depends on OnePlus when they gonna fix it.

The dynamic range is also good but it’s not the best for the price, considering the price tag, I feel, OnePls needs to work on the dynamic range and the colours too.

Night images do come out well but still, sometimes, the sensor adds too much noise.

Now, that 8MP ultra-wide lens does its job. In short, the OnePlus also needs to work ultra-wide, the night phone doesn’t come out well with an ultra-wide lens.

If you can, forget the 2MP macro sensor, I mean, 40k smartphones shouldn’t have this sensor, OnePlus should have added a telephoto lens instant.

The front camera has been a huge problem for OnePlus and the same can be said for the OnePlus 9RT 5G.

If you’re that person who takes lots of selfie then you will be disappointed with the front camera and even with the front video recording.

Overall, the OnePlus 9RT 5G has a decent camera and it can become good, if the OnePlus optimized the camera with an OTA update till then, the camera doesn’t justify the Rs 42,999 price tag.

Also, if OnePlus improve the cameras, I will update right here.

Audio Quality

The OnePlus 9RT 5G 5G has a Stereo speaker and works well, no complaints about that. It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone.

It also has support for carrier aggregation which means, the network quality will be good and there won’t be an issue in the calling.

Overall, the phone good speaker which will give a good experience.

Battery Life

The device has a 4,500 mAh battery with 65W wired charging support, there is no support for wireless charging.

The battery will last for a day but if you’re a heavy user who plays lots of games then you will need to charge the OnePlus 9RT 5G two times a day.

Still, you can use a 65W charger which will take only 29 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%.
