Amazfit Band 7 Review with Pros and Cons – Best So Far

Amazfit Band 7 Review

Smartwatches are good but when it comes to budget smartwatches and especially Indian brands, you should always ignore them because they always focus on the design side of things and forget to work on the software side of things but that’s the topic for another day.

So let’s find out in this review whether Amazfit Band 7 is worth the Rs 3,499 price. (The Amazfit Band 7 will be available for Rs 2,999 for a limited time on Amazon).

Amazfit Band 7 Review

Yes, 100% Amazfit Band 7 is worth buying as it has almost all the features including always on display, large AMOLED panel, 5 ATM Water-Resistant, Menstrual Cycle Tracking, and 120 built-in sports modes while it’s available at Rs 3,499 which is the reasonable price for what Amazfit is offering.

I know, you might ask, why not go with a smartwatch as we have tons of options in India from boAt, Fire Boltt, and even Noise.

The reason is, Indian brands keep their smartwatch prices low but they don’t provide value. I have made an entire article about the Reality Of Made In India Smartwatches, so make sure you read it before buying Indian-branded smartwatches.

Still, if you feel that, I want a bigger display then I would recommend you spend at least Rs 5000 on a smartwatch. You can consider the Dizo Watch R Talk or RealMe Watch 3 Pro which is available at Rs 4,999 in India.

Display

The Amazfit Band 7 comes with a 1.47-inches AMOLED display with a resolution of 198×368 pixels.

Now, we have seen AMOLED panels on fitness trackers but most of them don’t provide the always-on display but here, Amazfit has added that feature.

Yes, it will consume a bit of extra battery but we have to pay that price to use the Always-on display. Also, you can always turn off the always-on display, if you want longer battery life.

The AMOLED display is Beautifull too, it doesn’t feel that Amazfit has used a cheap display panel. It’s bright too, so there won’t any kind of issue while using the band outdoors, you will also be able to read the text and play around with UI.

Because of the Zepp OS, the display feels more smooth. As of now, I didn’t see any frame drop or lag while using the Amazfit Band 7.

Design, Comfort, and Build

The Amazfit Band 7 has a plastic frame and Plastic back while the strep is made from Silicone. The band only has 28 grams of weight which is nothing when we compared it with smartwatches.

In short, it won’t feel uncomfortable while wearing it all day and all night.

Also, if you don’t like the default strap then you can always buy new ones from Amazon as per your liking.

It also has built-in Alexa support and to use that, you will have to connect the Amazfit Band 7 to your smartphone. One more thing, the band only has a microphone, it doesn’t have a speaker.

By the way, the Amazfit Band 7 is a bit bigger compared to any other smart band, so if you wanted to buy a smaller fitness band then stay away from this band. It might feel like, you’re using a smartwatch that has pile shape design.

As the band has only 28 grams of weight, so it’s the best option if you want to use it for a run or walk. Do note, it doesn’t have the built-in GPS which is justifiable as Amazfit Band 7 is priced at Rs 3,499.

Health and Fitness Tracking

The Amazfit Band 7 has all the sensors from BioTrackerTM 3.0 PPG, a 3-axis Acceleration sensor, and a Geomagnetic sensor while it doesn’t have the built-in GPS.

Now, built-in GPS does help a lot if you go for outdoor running but if you don’t then it’s not very useful to you.

The band can also autodetect your activity, for example, if you’re running or walking and you forget to start the activity then the band will vibrate and prompt that “looks like you’re running or walking”

We don’t usually see the autodetect feature in budget smartwatches or even smart bands, the autodetect is available on Amazfit Band 7 because it’s running on Zepp OS. Yes, it’s a software feature, and yet, we’re not seeing this in budget smartwatches.

The band has 5 ATM water resistance up to 50 meters which means, you can use it while swimming, raining environments, or wherever water is.

It also has sleep monitoring too including the NREM Stage 1, light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep. It can also detect Daytime naps, and Sleep breathing. While you can access the sleep data on the Zepp application.

Now, to measure the heart rate and SpO2, Amazfit is using the BioTrackerTM 3.0 PPG biometric sensor which again, is the same as what other smartwatches are using.

Also, I think you already know this but still, this is a smart band and it can give you a rough number, so don’t rely 100% on it, if you have some serious health problem.

Concluding everything, yes, Amazfit Band 7 provides close to accurate health data. It’s just that, the band has a smaller display compared to smartwatches and that’s it but accuracy is the same as smartwatches.

Application and Zepp OS

To use all the features, you will have to download the Zepp app. If you want to use the Amazfit Band 7 on an Android smartphone then you need to have Android 7 or above while on iPhone, iOS 12, or above.

As you can tell, you can use Amazfit band 7 on Android as well as on iPhone too.

The app will show all the data from sleep monitoring, heart rate monitoring, calorie burn, and even GPS data. The app is user-friendly too, so it won’t be difficult to use for new users.

I have said many times but again, Zepp OS is the best Watch OS available under Rs 10000. Now if you go above Rs 10000 then you can get WearOS and even Apple Watch OS.

So don’t worry about it, it’s not like Noise or even BoAt. Amazfit has been working on OS for years which you will get to experience when you use Zepp OS in real life.

Battery Life

Amazfit Band 7 has a 232mAh battery. The battery will last for a long time because of the Zepp OS.

So let me just tell you the numbers, for your reference. Keep in mind, when you use the band, battery life may change as per your usage.

Summary

The Amazfit Band 7 delivers everything that users are looking for in fitness trackers from longer battery life to accurate health data while it’s available at Rs 3,499 which is a good price for almost everyone in India. However, it doesn’t have built-in GPS and Bluetooth calling, so keep that thing in mind, before buying it.
