Mi Band 5 Review with Pros and Cons

Mi band Review

Xiaomi has launched tons of IoT Products recently and now they just launched the Mi band 5 which was launched in China while back, it’s the same smart band but without NFC support. There is not a huge upgrade from the last generation but they have made some changes which you may notice in day to day use.

What’s new in Mi band 5

  1. Improved tracking modes
  2. Women’s Health & PAI
  3. Added REM sleep mode
  4. SPO2 Sensor
  5. Magnetic Charging
  6. New band faces
  7. Larger display

Mi band 5 Price in India

Mi band 5 priced at Rs 2,499 in India and it will be available from 1st October 2020 at noon via Amazon. By the way, Mi band 5 price will be increased after Diwali 2020, so if you want to buy Mi band 5 and just grab one on 1st October because after Diwali the price will be Rs 2,999 which is confirmed by Xiaomi India.

Mi band 5 Display Quality

Mi band 5 comes with the larger 1.01-inch display with 126 x 294 pixels resolution and the display brightness is 450 nits. t has a bigger display as compared to 0.95 which was present on Mi band 4. I have said many times, if you want the best display on the smart band then don’t look for anything else, just go with current-gen Mi band.

This is what you will see in Mi band 5, I haven’t had any problem while running outside or just check time under the sunlight. The display is viewable. Also, Xiaomi has added around 100 new faces which can be used with the help of Mi Fit app, so now you don’t have to use any third-party apps to use your favourite faces.

Like last generation Mi band 5 is also water-resistant up to 50 meters that means you can use this band while swimming or while washing your hands.

Mi band 5 Design and Comfort

Likewise, Build is great on Mi band 5. I have said in the Mi band 4 review that this band has the best strap and this is the case with Mi band 5, Xiaomi has improved the band little bit. One thing to note, you can’t use the Mi band 4 strap because Mi band has larder display.

Xiaomi didn’t make any changes in design, it’s the same as Mi Band 4. If you have used Mi band 4 then you won’t see any kind of improvement in design. The only change you will see is charging, Mi band 5 comes with Magnetic charging which mean now you don’t have to remove the strap, just attach to the charger into the charging point.

Mi band 5 Features

Mi band 5 comes with an elliptical, rowing machine, jump rope, indoor cycling, Yoga, outdoor running, treadmill, cycling, walking, freestyle, and pool swimming. With Mi band 5 workouts will be simpler, I mean you will able to track your data properly.

This time Mi band 5 also has separate Women’s Health mode, which allows female users to track their menstrual cycles.

Mi band 5 also has the sleep mode but now Xiaomi has also added REM (rapid eye movement) sleep mode like what’s present on Honor Band 5. I know you will say, what’s new in this band because everything was present on Mi band 4?

Xiaomi has improved everything, for example, heart rate monitoring will be more accurate now, and the band has REM sleep, Deep sleep and Light Sleep mode. This time, it feels, Xiaomi has made some small improvement there is nothing big like what they did from Mi band to Mi band 4.

Also, you will able to use Mi band 5 has remote that means with the help of this band you can capture the images, earlier, you have to use third-party apps but now this feature is included in the band itself.

As I have Mi band 5 is priced at Rs 2,499 but the price will increase to Rs 2,999 after Diwali 2020, so buy before this Diwali.

Mi band 5 Battery Life

If you don’t enable Sleep Mode, heart rate tracking then the band will last for 20 days but if you have all the feature then the band will last for 16 days. About Mi band 4, I was getting about 11 days of battery life with all the feature enable while 15 days with no features.

The only big difference you will see the charging port, now you don’t have to take out the pile, just attach the charging magnet and you good to go. Like Mobile Review, I won’t say much about battery life because it depend on a user by the user but I have given a rough idea about battery life.

How to connect MI band 5 with Smartphone

1] Downlead Mi Fit Application from App store or Play store

2] Create new Mi account

3] Now you will see + icon on the top-right side, just tap on it

4] You will see Mi band 5 on your smartphone screen

5] Select the Mi band 5

6] Now Mi Fit App will ask you for Bluetooth, storage, calls, message, and location permission

7] Don’t allow all the permission, allow only which you gonna use

8] Now wait for sometime, Mi band 5 will get connect automatically.

9] Now play around with setting, that’s it

Mi band 5 Verdict

If you want to buy new fitness band then Mi band 5 is the best option you got right now but if you already own Mi band 4 then there is no point to upgrade to Mi band 5 because there is no a huge difference between these two bands. Keep in mind, This is the best band at Rs 2,499 but if you get this band at Rs 2,999 then it’s not worth buying.

After Diwali 2020 the price for Mi band 5 will be Rs 2,999, so buy before this Diwali or not buy at all.
