Huawei P40 Series Launched: First Impression

Much awaited P40 series launched, this time we got three phones under the P40 series. We have Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro, and Huawei P40 Pro+. All these versions have the same chipset but the cameras are different on each phone, so let’s see what new Huawei has to offer with all-new Huawei P40 series.

One eye-catching thing about Huawei P40 series is the backside, I mean just look at the images, it looks beyond amazing.

The top Huawei P40 Pro+ has a Nano-Tech Ceramic back which is extremely scratch-resistant and durable with a “diamond-like shine” and “sapphire-like toughness”. On the front side of things, we have a dual-camera setup that is present on a pile-shaped notch.

The Huawei P40, P40 Pro is available in Black, Ice White, Deep Sea Blue, Silver Frost and Brush Gold while Huawei P40 Pro+ is available in only Ceramic White and Ceramic Black.

Display
Huawei P40 Pro+ comes with a 6.58-inches Flex OLED panel with a 2640*1200 pixel resolution and 441 PPI. The phone also has a 90Hz screen refresh rate and HDR 10+ support. The same display is also present on Huawei P40 Pro, nothing changed here but that Huawei P40 has 6.10-inches FHD+ display with a 60Hz screen refresh rate

This is a flagship series that means it has an in-display fingerprint sensor which is faster than ever. The Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro+gets IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, while the P40 has an IP53 rating.

We have seen Huawei P30 Pro which has the best cameras but this time Huawei went one step further, so let’s see the camera department

Huawei P40 Series Cameras

The base variant got a triple rear camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.9 aperture paired with an 8-megapixel telephoto lens which has 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization (OIS), and the last one is a 16-megapixel, f/2.2 ultrawide lens.

On the front side, the phone has a 32-megapixel selfie shooter which can shoot videos up to 2160p@30/60fps & 1080p@30/60fps.

Huawei P40 Pro

Now, this variant sport Quad camera setup featuring 50-megapixel primary sensor, f/1.9 aperture with OIS, 40-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 12-megapixel RYYB Periscope camera which has a 5x optical zoom. It also has a ToF camera for depth sensing.

To capture selfies, Huawei added 32 MP primary sensor, and TOF 3D (depth/biometrics sensor). This is can record videos in 2160p@30/60fps & 1080p@30/60fps.

Huawei P40 Pro+

This one gets five sensors on the rear side. We have 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel Periscope sensor (OIS and 10x optical zoom), an 8-megapixel telephoto lens ( OIS and 3x optical zoom), a 40 megapixels ultra-wide lens, and finally TOF 3D for depth.

This to have the same camera sensor, 32 MP primary sensor, and TOF 3D (depth/biometrics sensor). This is can record videos in 2160p@30/60fps & 1080p@30/60fps.

Hardware and Software

All these versions are powered by Kirin 990 with 5G support. The Huawei P40 Pro+ has 4,200 mAh battery with 40W wired & wireless fast charging support while Huawei P40 Pro comes with the same 4,200 mAh battery with 40W wired fast charging support but has 27W wireless fast charging support

The Huawei P40 doesn’t have wireless charging support and has 22.5 wired charging support

The Huawei P40 series is running on Android 10 but there is no google services induced, an instant of that, Huawei has added its own Huawei Mobile services.

By the way, Huawei also announced the new AI voice assistant which is called Celia to replace Google Assistant.

Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will be available from 7th Apri 2020 while Huawei P40 Pro+ won’t be available till June.
