These days next-generation product doesn’t make any sense, I mean just take look at newly launched RealMe 8. This is the same RealMe 7 but with one minor change and that’s it. Is it an upgrade from Realme 7? no it’s not.
It looks like Indian users didn’t buy RealMe 7 and that’s why RealMe launched RealMe 7 in the new design. Now let’s not go deep down in RealMe smartphones, so here is my RealMe 8 Review but before that let me tell you the India price of RealMe 8.

RealMe 8 Review
RealMe 8 is not a bad smartphone but it’s a bit pricey, the phone should have launched at 13k. It does have MediaTek Helio G95 Processor which is best for gaming, 30W fast charging support, 5000 mAh battery but it’s not value for money device. Instant of RealMe 8, do take look at Redmi Note 10 which is priced at Rs 11,999.
Realme 8 is the worst upgrade or next-gen smartphone to launch in 2021 because this is the same RealMe 7 but with a different design & AMOLED display. So if you only RealMe smartphone and if you can live with an LCD display then just go with RealMe 7 which is available at Rs 13,499 or just save three thousand and go with Redmi Note 10.

Display Quality: No High Refresh Rate
The RealMe 8 comes with 6.40 inches FHD+ AMOLED and this is a 60Hz refresh rate screen. If I recall, RealMe 7 had a 90Hz LCD display. Now you have to decide, it’s an upgrade or downgrade.
This is an AMOLED display which means, RealMe had to add an in-display fingerprint sensor and they did and it’s quite responsive too. So there won’t be any problem which unlocking RealMe 8. Also, it does have vide wine L1 support that means you can stream FHD+ content on Netflix, Prime Video, etc.
The display brightness is about 1000 nits which is an upgrade from RealMe 7 because RealMe 7 had 480 nits of brightness. So if you’re that person who uses a phone outside home or who don’t stay home most of the time then that 1000 nits of brightness will make sure that you can see the display properly.
Talking about build, the RealMe 8 is made out of plastic and on the front side, there is Gorilla Glass 3. I just want to say one thing, use a cover case because you have to protect the backside because plastic will break if you drop the phone.
Overall, the display quality is good but if RealMe have added 90Hz refresh rate then it would have been great deal at 15k.
Cameras: Same as RealMe 7
The RealMe 7 has a 64MP Quad Camera setup featuring 8MP Ultra-wide + 2MP Macro + 2MP depth sensor while there is 16MP front cameras. The Rear Camera can shoot videos up to 4k@30fps while the front camera shoots at only 1080p@30fps.
Before I say anything about camera quality, let me just remove those 2MP+2MP sensors because those sensors are just added to say, we have launched a new smartphone with a Quad camera setup at the launch event and that’s it. What I’m saying is, don’t buy phone just because it has four cameras at the back.
Talking about the 64MP primary sensor, this is the same Sony IMX682 sensor that was used on RealMe 7. That said, RealMe 8 gives almost the same images quality as RealMe 7, so if you’re using RealMe 7 then don’t think about buying Realme 8.
As I said in RealMe 7 Review, the camera does take some good looking images under good lighting condition but when it comes to low lighting condition or night photography, it loses out on details which is not acceptable because this is a 2021 smartphone and not 2020 smartphone.
Maybe RealMe can fix this problem with the OTA update but when they gonna do it, no one knows. Also, I don’t recommend phone on behalf of future updates.
Now, if you’re using a 10k smartphone and if you’re buying RealMe 8 then you will love this camera setup but if you have used RealMe 7 or Redmi Note 9 Pro then RealMe 8 won’t be a huge upgrade.
Also, 8MP ultra-wide had the same problem as the 64MP sensor. This is a gaming smartphone and not a camera-centric smartphone, don’t expect much from the camera department.
Coming back to the 16MP Selfie shooter, I don’t use the front camera much but if you’re that person who loves to take a selfie then you won’t disappoint but it’s not the best considering the price tag but it’s worst too. It’s above average.
From myside, RealMe could have done much better job in the camera department but they didn’t. So if you’re buying RealMe 8 just because of the cameras then don’t, I would say, just add two thousand more and go with Redmi Note 10 Pro.
Performance: Best for Gaming
The RealMe 8 is powered by Mediatek Helio G95 (12 nm) processor and this chip is build for gaming. So if you want to buy a budget gaming smartphone and if your budget is 15k and you can’t go above 15k then RealMe 8 is the best smartphone for gaming.
Mediatek Helio G95 is built on 12 nm technology, you know what it means?
This is not the best processor for those who want better battery life because the Mediatek Helio G95 is not battery efficient processor. In short, the battery won’t last longer as compared to Snapdragon 678 Chipset which is present on Redmi Note 10.
Also, if you use this phone for while, let’s say about one hour then the phone will get hot. So yes, it’s not the best phone for casual users but it’s best for gaming.
You can say, Mediatek Helio G95 has powerful GPU but it doesn’t have powerful CPU.
The phone is running on RealMe UI 2.0-based on Android 11 and it has ads in the UI which can’t be disabled 100%. So you will see ads here and there.
Now I’m not saying much here because you get the idea about Mediatek Helio G95 but still, if you have question then do let me know in the comment box.
Battery Life: It’s big but the chipset ruined Everything
It has a huge 5,000 mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. The phone will take about 65 minutes to charge 0% to 100. As I have said, Mediatek Helio G95 is not a battery efficient processor that said, if your 8 nm processor last for a day then the 12 nm processor will last for 18 to 20 hours.
Talking about battery life, the phone will last for a day. For example, if you charge the phone at around 9:00 AM then you have to charge this phone again at around 5 PM to 6 PM. Also, if you’re heavy users then you may have to charge the RealMe 8 Pro before 5 PM, it depends on how much you use the phone.
Also, don’t use this phone while it’s charging because, it will get hot and you won’t like to blast your owns smartphone, right.
In short, RealMe 8 has decent battery life. Still, I would say, it’s not the best or not the worst considering the price tag.
Audio and Calling: Decent
The RealMe 8 has a single bottom speaker which is load but it’s not good as stereo speakers but it works. So if you want that stereo speaker vibe then you have to go with Redmi Note 10 Pro. Also, the phone doesn’t have the best audio quality and it doesn’t have a second noise microphone which is a huge deal because it will be used on phone calls.
In short, the RealMe 8 does have good speakers but it’s not the best at 15k price tag.

I don’t know why Realme launched RealMe 8 because they already had the RealMe 7. Let’s not go there, from my side, if you have RealMe 7 or Redmi Note 9 Pro then don’t think about buying RealMe 8.
Now if you want to buy a new phone around 15k then I would say, save three thousand and go with Redmi Note 10 but if you can go above 15k then just add two thousand more and buy Redmi Note 10 Pro because this is the best smartphone available under the 20k price tag in India, hands down.
