Display Quality
The Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with 6.67-inches FHD+ display but it has an LCD panel and the reason for that is, this time redmi went with punch-hole display and to give this kind of display with AMOLED is a little bit expensive and that’s why Redmi has provided LCD instant of AMOLED.
Like Realme 6, this Redmi Note 9 Pro doens’t have a 90Hz display, the phone comes with a regular 60Hz display. This could be a deal-breaker for some people but keep in mind, we don’t have many games who support a 90Hz refresh rate but yes, in the coming time, we could see support for 90Hz display in some games but as of now, we don’t have many.
Overall, the Redmi Note 9 Pro won’t give you picture quality like AMOLED display but provided LCD is not that bad.
To protect the display, redmi has used Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides, so nothing to worry about display protection yet if you buy this phone, then do use screen protector.
In short, what you’re getting at 13k is more than enough in terms of display quality.
Design & Build Quality
As I have said, redmi has used Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides. As per the company, the phone has a three-layer of protection, so if you drop the phone, it won’t break very easily.
One thing I like most of this Redmi Note 9 series is design. I mean just look at the rear side, you can’t even tell if this is a budget smartphone or premium smartphone. The phone also curved from the side edges that means you can hold the phone very easily.
The camera placement is also present at the right place and it looks amazing, I mean that horizontal round on the top two sensors is eye-catching. In short, redmi has done its great job in a build as well as in design.
Like always, some people will like the design some won’t now it depends on your personal preference, so I won’t say much about design.
Performance
The Redmi Note 9 Pro is powered by 8nm Snapdragon 720G and this is a successor of Snapdragon 730G, as per redmi this Soc will give you better performance. Yes, it will give better performance but it won’t be huge, you won’t even notice if you have used 730G.
Snapdragon 720G is built for gaming, so no matter what game you play, 720G will give you the best result. In short, at 13k, this is the best Soc you can get.
This is a Xiaomi product that means, Redmi Note 9 Pro is running on MIUI 11 on top of Android 10. Now I won’t say anything about OS because it depends on a user by user, whether you like it or not? decide for yourself.
Here is the GeekBench 5 & Antutu Score
Antutu Score
- 276146
GeekBench Score
- Single-core: 565
- Multi-core: 1672
Overall, at 13k you can’t complain about processor because you’re getting the best Soc at this price point…
Cameras
The phone has all-new 48MP Samsung Isocell GM2 which is a successor of Samsung Isocell GM1, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor. That pouch-hole sports 16MP selfie shooter.
The Rear cameras support the company’s super stabilization, 4K video recording at 30fps and 960fps of slow-motion video as well. The cameras also have other features like portrait mode, in-built filter and what you usually get with Redmi devices.
Redmi has also included all-new ‘Pro Color’ mode which will saturate the color and give you better color reproduction. If you have used realme device then this same feature is available in Realme devices with the name of Chroma boost mode, so nothing new here.
The phone also has dedicated night mode which is improved from the last generation, but like always, the Gcam app will be out very soon, I will add here, once its out.
Now, I won’t say much about cameras, down below, you will see some camera samples which is taken from Redmi Note 9 Pro, (images from redmiIndia/twitter)
Battery Life
The phone has a whopping 5,020 mAh non-removable battery with 18W fast charging support. You will get one-day battery life but it depends want kind of activity you do on a smartphone.
Here we go again “the battery life depends on your phone use if you every day play games for 6 hours then you need to charge a phone every 6 hours but if you’re like me and don’t use the phone very often then it will last for a day.”
Conclusion
At Rs 12,999 you’re getting Snapdragon 720G, 5,020 battery with 18W fast charging support, Gorilla glass support on both sides, punch hole display, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, the phone is running on Android 10 out of the box. So yes, you can buy Redmi Note 9 Pro without any doubt, and its totally worth buying at 13k.
Now if you ask me, which one you will buy?
I don’t like plastic build and I don’t care about 90Hz display because as of now, we don’t have many games who support a 90Hz refresh rate, also Redmi Note 9 Pro has 5,020 battery which is a nice touch. So I will buy the Redmi Note 9 Pro instant of Realme 6.
In the end, Redmi Note 9 Pro is a power pack phone but it doesn’t have a 90Hz screen refresh rate, 30W fast charging support, so if you want what I have just mentioned here then Realme 6 is the phone for you.
