RealMe 6 Pro Review with Pros and Cons

Realme 6 Pro Review

Realme 6 series is launched in India, this year we got Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro but it doesn’t have what people have expected from this series. The Realme 6 Pro has Snapdragon 720G, 30W fast charging support, 90Hz screen refresh rate, and priced at Rs 16,999, so let’s see why people are calling this phone overpriced and find out whether you should buy Realme 6 pro or not?

Update 13th March 2020 at 10:46 AM Redmi Note 9 series is launched in India. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max starts from 15k and this too has Snapdragon 720G. Now you can decide which one is best for you, to know more you can read Review for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

Before we jump into the review, let me tell you the price for the Realme 6 Pro.

The RealMe 6 will be sold via the RealMe website and Flipkart, the first sale starts from 13th March 2020 at noon. By the way, Realme is also offering Rs 1,000 OFF on Axis bank Credit & debit card, so use it you will get 1k off on all the variants.

Now let’s see what new Realme has to offer with Realme 6 pro at 17K.

Display Quality

The Realme 6 Pro has 6.60-inches Full HD+ but its not AMOLED display, the phone comes with an LCD panel. Realme 6 Pro has pile shaped display and because of that company didn’t provide AMOLED. Now I know you will say why they didn’t provide AMOLED and pile shaped display,

First, to provide these things together is not that hard but it will make the phone expensive. You see, the Realme 6 Pro is launched at 17k and still, most of the people said, Realme 6 Pro is overpriced. So giving LCD display + pile shaped display is cheaper then AMOLED display + pile shaped display.

Overall, the phone does have a good quality display but you also get other phones at the same price point with AMOLED display, so the question is, would you buy a phone that has LCD Panel + 90Hz screen refresh rate OR buy a phone that has AMOLED display but doesn’t have 90Hz screen refresh rate?

If you ask me, I would prefer an AMOLED display over the 90Hz screen refresh rate.

Build Quality

To protect Realme 6 Pro, Realme has provided Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides. So nothing to worry about the build but yes the phone has glass build and like everything, glass can also break, so do use case.

The RealMe 6 Pro has around 191 grams weight which is a little bit heavy.

Performance

This is India’s first smartphone to ship with all-new Qualcomm snapdragon 720G which is built on 8nm technology with Adreno 618 GPU and Kryo 465 CPU. By the way, that ‘G’ is for ‘Gaming”, so this chipset is built for gaming.

Keep in mind, Snapdragon 730G and Snapdragon 720G are almost similar to each other, so if you have a phone that has Snapdragon 730G, so don’t expect that Snapdragon 720G will give you better result then 730G Soc.

Overall, what you’re getting at 17k is better but not the best. You will able to play almost every single game which is available in the Play Store without any problem.

Talking of Reame 6 Pro competitor, we have POCO X2 and Redmi Note 9 Pro is coming on 12th March 2020. Coming to POCO X2, the phone has Snapdragon 730G, 120Hz display, 27W fast charging support and priced at 16k.

Here I would say, POCO X2 offers better specs. Now if you want to buy a new phone below 20k then do wait for Redmi Note 9 series and see what Redmi provides this time.

By the way, Realme 6 Pro is running RealMe UI 1.0 adopted from Color OS 7.0 and based on Android 10, so like it or hate it, this is what you got. One more thing, the Realme 6 Pro comes with NavIC (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System) GPS.

Cameras

Like RealMe 6, this Realme 6 Pro also comes with a Quad camera setup featuring 64MP Samsung-made GW1 sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 12MP telephoto lens, and 2MP macro sensor. On the front side, it has 16MP Sony IMX 471, and 8MP ultra-wide-angle which is present on the top-left side.

Here, if Realme has given the 64MP Sony IMX686 because of its “Pro” version but we got 64MP Samsung-made GW1 sensor which is available in every single smartphone.

Overall, what you’re getting is also good. Let’s see what features you get with Realme 6 Pro,

That rear camera setup got big improvements this year, the 12MP telephoto lens can do 20x hybrid zoom. The Realme 6 Pro also supports the latest NightScape 3.0 that comes with multiple modes, for example, — Tripod modes and the ultra-nightscape modes, and has support for 4K video recording at 30 fps.

In short, what you’re getting at 17k is not very good but what we can do now. I will add some images which are shot on Realme 6 Pro, so let me know what you think about camera quality, (images via AmreliaRuhez – Twitter)

Battery Life

Realme 6 Pro also has 4,300mAh non-removable battery with 30W flash charging support, yes they just moved from VOOC to FLASH. RealMe has said, you can charge 0% to 100% in only 60-minutes.

Here we go again “the battery life depends on your phone use if you every day play games for 6 hours then you need to charge a phone every 6 hours but if you’re like me and don’t use the phone very often then it will last for a day.”

You will get 1-day battery life, in the end, it will depend on your daily uses and still, if you run out of battery then no worries, Realme has provided 30W Flash charger in the box.

Conclusion

Realme 6 pro is not worth buying at Rs 16,999, the phone does have 6.60-inches Full HD+ display, all-new Snapdragon 720G Processor, Quad Camera setup, 90Hz Screen refresh rate, 120Hz touch sampling ratio, Glass build, 30W Flash Charging but still, you’re paying 2k extra for the Realme 6 Pro.

I would recommend you wait for Redmi Note 9 series which is launching on 12th March and see what Redmi will give this time. Still, if you can’t wait then buy POCO X2 which is available at Rs 15,999.
