So let’s review the Infinix Zero 8i and see whether it’s worth the 15k price tag or not?

Display Quality
Display Size | 6.85 inches FHD+ LCD Display |
Resolutions | 2460 x 1080 Pixels resolution |
Screen Refresh Rate | 90Hz refresh rate |
Infinix Zero 8i comes with huge 6.85-inches FHD+ display with 2460 x 1080 Pixels resolution and this is 90Hz screen. Like Vivo V20 Pro 5G, Infinix didn’t go with a display notch, they added dual punch hole on the front top-left side.

The display brightness is 480 nits which mean, the phone is visible under the sunlight, there won’t be any problem while playing games or watching YouTube Videos outside the home. One thing to note here, the phone doesn’t have widevine L1 certification that means, you won’t able to watch Netflix or Prime videos at FHD+ resolution, it will be stick to 480p.
Infinix can push OTA update for widevine L1 but for now, the phone has widevine L3 certification. As I have said, the Infinix Zero 8i has 90Hz screen refresh rate which will help a lot in gaming and in day to day use, everything will feel smooth while scrolling through social media or while browsing MobileDrop website.
The phone does have dual punch hole but that won’t bather while watching something on the internet as it’s placed on top-left side. Overall, the Infinix Zero 8i has best good display quality and that 90Hz refresh rate makes everything perfect yet streaming media online will be restricted to 480p which is a big let down for those who love to watch movies on OTT platform.
Design and Build Quality
Build | Glass front, Plastic back, Plastic frame |
I don’t usually comment on design because it’s a personal preference, some will hate how Infinix Zero 8i looks while some will love what Infinix has made. Talking about myself, I just love the rear side, that matte finish does look great hand and also that camera cutout looks different than any other budget centric smartphone.
Also, the phone is made out of plastic which is okay as this is 15k smartphone, most of the mobile brand provides plastic build. Infinix didn’t do something new here, although, Mattel body would have been great.
The Infinix Zero 8i does have rear camera bump, so make to use good quality case cover otherwise, the rear cameras can be damaged. The phone does have all the necessary port and button including side-mounted fingerprint sensor but it doesn’t have a secondary noise-cancelling microphone which is not the great thing because that second mic is used for calling.
Overall, if you see the phone, it has great design but it’s made out of plastic which won’t be huge problem for most of the users.
Cameras
Camera (Rear) | 48 MP Primary Sensor 8 MP Ultra-Wide Lens 2 MP Depth AI Lens |
Video Recording (Rear) | 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60fps |
Camera (Front) | 16MP + 8MP Selfie Shooter |
Video Recording (Front) | 1080p@30/60fps |
The Infinix Zero 8i comes with Quad camera setup featuring 48MP primary sensor + 8MP Ultra-Wide lens + 2MP Depth sensor + AI sensor while there is dual 16MP + 8MP Ultra-Wide selfie shooter. The Rear camera can shoot videos up to 4k@30fps while the front camera can record up to 1080p@30fps.
I have added some of the images which are shot with Infinix Zero 8i, so let me know what you think about the camera in the comment box.
As you can see, all the images turned out very good. You can see good details, white balance is also good but things get a little bit tricky when the sun goes down. The phone does have dedicated night-mode but that doesn’t help a lot at night.
Images shot at night turned bit overexposed and that’s why sometimes, images don’t have good details and the dynamic range is also worst at night. The Infinix Zero 8i has great camera sensor but Infinix didn’t optimize the camera very well and that can be seen on the given images.
From everything, if the lighting condition is great then Infinix Zero 8i will give the best images quality but when there is no good lighting or taking images at night then almost all the image turned out to be overexposed.
The phone also has dual selfie camera setup including 8MP ultra-wide lens. Surprisingly, the front-facing cameras take great images but at night, it’s the same as rear cameras. In short, if you want good selfie then make sure to stand up in good lighting or you won’t able to post that selfie on Instagram.
Now, Infinix Zero 8i also has dedicated 2MP depth sensor and macro photo can be taken with the help of Ultra-Wide lens. Hear me out, 2MP sensor doesn’t make any sense because it won’t give good images, most of the mobile brands added 2MP+2MP sensor to look good on the paper and people tent to buy a smartphone as the phone has Quad camera setup.
Overall, Infinix needs to optimize the camera for night as there is no problem with day photography. I hope, Infinix push OTA update very soon and once they do, I will update right here.
Performance and Software
Chipset | MediaTek Helio G90T (12 nm) |
GPU | ARM Mali-G76 MP4 |
CPU | Arm Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 |
OS | XOS 7.0 (Based on Android 10) |
5G | NO |
The Infinix Zero 8i is powered by 12nm MediaTek Helio G90T SoC and it’s running on XOS 7.0-Based on Android 10. The phone has ARM Mali-G76 MP4 GPU which will give the best gaming experience but the chip is built on 12nm technology that means, CPU is powerful as GPU.
As the phone is running on Infinix’s custom skin XOS 7.0-based on Android 10, the performance will be good but there are some people who don’t like XOS 7.0 because its complicated to use. Overall, the phone doesn’t give the best user experience.
UI is not slow but it doesn’t give great feel while using the phone. Infinix need to provide close to Stock Android experiences like Motorola or OnePlus or Vivo nevertheless, there are some people who love to customize their smartphone and for those people, XOS 7.0 is better than clean stock UI.
MediaTek Helio G90T is more focused on the gaming side, there won’t be any kind of problem while playing COD Mobile or any other games which are available on Play Store. This chip will handle all the tasks without any problem.
One thing to note, the phone does make with quite of few pre-installed apps and games including Facebook and Flipkart but most of the apps can be uninstalled. The phone also has all the sensors including Fingerprint, Ambient Light, G-Sensor, Proximity, Gyroscope, E-Compass but it doesn’t have widevine L3 certification.
Overall, there won’t be any problem in performance but the UI is bit complicated.
Audio and Call Quality
The phone has only single bottom-firing speakers which don’t sound great but does its job. Make sure to use earphone while playing games or watching movies and yes, the phone has 3.5mm audio jack, so use wired earphone or TWS.
Also, as I have said, it doesn’t have a secondary noise-cancelling microphone which is not the great thing because that second mic is used for calling. In short, if you’re in a crowded place then sometimes, another person on the call might have trouble hearing from you because the phone will only use a single mic.
Overall, the phone has decent speakers.
Battery Life
Battery Size | 4,500mAh battery (non-removable) |
Charging Port | Type-C Port |
Charging Speed | 33W fast charging support (18W charger will be included in the box) |
Infinix Zero 8i comes with 4,500 mAh (non-removable) with 33W fast charging support but Infinx has supplied 18W charger in the box that means to get 33W fast charging, you have to buy 33W charger separately. The battery life is also not that great, the phone will be dead at around 7PM, if you’re a casual user.
Now if you play games then you have to charge the phone at around 4PM to 6PM. Also battery life depend on your daily use, so only you can tell, how will be the battery life of Infinix Zero 8i for you.
“the battery life depends on your phone use if you every day play games for 6 hours then you need to charge a phone in every 6 hours but if you’re like me and don’t use the phone very often then it will last for a day or so”

Infinix Zero 8i: Verdict
Infinix Zero 8i doesn’t have everything that users want but it’s also priced at Rs 14,999 which means Infinx does cut out on somethings. The phone will give the best gaming experience but doesn’t have a great camera, the camera suffers a lot at night and speakers are also decent. It also doesn’t have a secondary noise-cancelling microphone. Overall, Infinix Zero 8i is a decent offering from Infinx.
Do I Recommend Infinx Zero 8i?
I don’t recommend Infinx Zero 8i because you can get phones like RealMe Narzo 20 Pro, POCO M2 Pro and RealMe 7 at 15k price tag and these phones offer better value then Infinx Zero 8i.
