Amazfit Pop 3R Review with Pros and Cons

Amazfit Pop 3R Closer look at Screen Bezels

Never thought that I would see this kind of smartwatch at the price of Rs 3,499 but things are changing and so is the competition in India, especially in the smartwatch market.

That being said, let’s review the Amazfit Pop 3R and find out whether it’s worth the Rs 3,499 price tag or not.

Amazfit Pop 3R Review

Yes, the Amazfit Pop 3R is worth buying because it has a solid build with stainless steel strap, a well-optimized watch UI along with app support, accurate healthy data, and more importantly Bluetooth calling support. So if your budget is under Rs 4,000 then do consider the Amazfit Pop 3R or other Indian smartwatches.

Keep in mind, the Amazfit Pop 3R doesn’t come with a proper Zepp OS, although it has the same look and feel.

Zepp OS is only for Premium smartwatches.

You also get the Silicone version of the Amazfit Pop 3R  which is available at Rs 3,499 but if you want the stainless steel strap then you have to pay Rs 3,999.

Display and Build

The 1.43-inch rounded AMOLED display is sharp and vibrant.  The colors do look good and it gives you that premium feeling as well.

The 466 x 466 Pixels resolution is more than enough for all kinds of usage, the text or even animation looks good even outdoors.

Now, the watch does have the Always on Display but sadly it’s only limited to 10 minutes, after that, the display will go to sleep.

This is opposite to the AOD feature, I know, Amazfit wants to preserve the battery but still, I would have loved to have the Full AOD feature.

I mean, just give an option.

There is also an IP68 rating which means it’s water and dust resistant.

The frame is made from metal, the back has plastic where all the sensors are placed and the straps are available in Silicone and stainless steel.

So choose the strap and again, you have to pay Rs 500 extra for stainless steel.

The build quality is solid as rock and especially that stainless steel version, this looks premium as well as beautiful at the same time.

The good thing is, Amazfit has provided the tool, so if the stainless steel strap is big for your wrist then you can remove the clips with the help of a tool.

Again, the watch is comfortable to wear and it has 55.5 grams of weight with a Silicone strap attached. And yes, the stainless steel will feel heavy.

Overall, the Amazfit Pop 3R has the best display along with a build under Rs 4,000 in India. Also, if you’re not a fan of rounded design then you can also take a look at Amazfit Pop 3S which has a squared design.

R stands for Round and the S stands for square, so look for this when you buy Amazfit smartwatches.

Health Features and Accuracy

Amazfit is a wearable brand which means, their main focus is to make smartwatches and this is what they have been doing for years and it does reflect well in their product lineup.

So what I’m saying is, accuracy won’t be a huge problem here.

Again, most of the budget smartwatches are using an optical sensor, so you won’t get as accurate data as premium watches but again, for the price of Rs 3499, one should not complain.

The Amazfit Pop 3R has all the sensors from Accelerometer, Heart Rate, and 3-axis motion sensor.

Sleep tracking is calculated with the help of a heart rate and motion sensor which does provide close to accurate data.

You also have to download the Zepp Fit App on your smartphone to track sleep monitoring and even heart rate data.

Now, you can see the sleep data on the smartwatch display but it only shows limited data.

The SpO2 on smartwatches is accurate, and don’t rely on them all the time. It again uses the heart rate sensor, so sometimes, the accuracy won’t be perfect.

This is the same with all the other budget smartwatches, nothing new here.

By the way, the Zepp Fit App doesn’t have integration with Google Fit, so you won’t be able to move your health data there.

For step counting and exercise, Amazift uses both motion and heart rate sensors. The sensor sees how fast your heartbeat is and according to the data, it shows how many calories you have burned.

Overall, you will be satisfied with the health accuracy data but keep in mind, the Amazfit Pop 3R doesn’t have the built-in GPS like Amazfit Bip 3 Pro.

Bluetooth Calling

Bluetooth calling is a new trade and it’s working well in India, most Indian brands sold millions of watches because of Bluetooth calling but the reality is, not all watches have good-quality microphones or even speakers.

In the case of Amazfit Pop 3R, this does have a good quality microphone and speaker but it’s not perfect either.

If you’re in a public place where people are talking, the sound is coming from cars, bikes, and hotels then another person on call might have a hard time hearing your voice because the Amazfit Popn 3R only has the 1 microphone on the right side.

If you’re at home then you won’t face any sort of problem.

The speaker quality is okay, you need to keep the watch near your ears to hear someone.

The problem is, the speaker is behind the strap.

Again, the watch has Bluetooth calling, so you need to connect the watch to your phone otherwise, this feature won’t work at all.

 Battery Life

The 300mAh battery will last for 7 to 10 days without the calling but if you plan to use the Bluetooth calling then the battery will only last for 1 to 2 days, depending on which other feature you use.

Yes, Bluetooth calling kills the battery a lot, so be aware of it.

The battery will take about 90 minutes to charge from 0% to 100% which is standard for budget smartwatches.
