OPPO Reno 5G Review
OPPO Reno 6 5G is a balanced smartphone that offers a unique camera setup along with massive 65W fast charging support and a boxy design like iPhone 12 series. The battery life is also good because, under the hood, it has MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor. In short, considering the price tag, OPPO Reno 6 5G is worth looking at and its value for money device.
OPPO Reno 5G Pros and Cons
PROS | CONS |
---|---|
Massive 65W Fast Charging | No OIS |
Impressive Camera Setup | Bit pricey |
13 5G Bands | No 3.5mm Audio Jack |
90Hz HDR AMOLED Display | No SD-Card Slot |
Powerful MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC | No Stereo Speakers |
Refreshing Design |
Display and Build Quality
The OPPO Reno 6 5G comes with a 6.43-inches 90Hz HRD Display. The front display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and it has a Peak Brightness of 750 nits.
As I have said, it has a Peak Brightness of 750 nits which means, the phone will be visible under the sunlight, also, there won’t be any kind of problem using the phone outdoors. OPPO Reno 6 5G does have Widevine L1 support that means you will be able to stream FHD+ content on OTT platforms.
By the way, the phone is priced at Rs 29,999 and this price, a 120Hz refresh rate would have been a better option but a 90Hz screen also works fine.
Coming to design, this is a bit different from any other smartphone because this is a boxy design that we have seen in iPhone 12 series.
Also, design is a kind of personal choice, so do let me know, what you think about design in the comment box.
Cameras
The OPPO Reno 6 5G comes with a 64MP primary sensor, 8MP Ultra-wide, and 2MP macro sensor while 32MP selfie shooter. The Rear camera can shoot videos up to 4k@30fps while the front can shoot up to 1080p@30fps.
The phone has some of the best camera features which can be very helpful for those who record videos every day.
It has Bokeh Flare Portrait Video, this is the same feature that can be found in DSLRs. By the way, an instant of photos, now you can also get Bokeh on videos too. The good thing is, it can also be used for the front camera.
I was a bit consensus about the accuracy of Bokeh on videos because this is shorts of a mid-budget smartphone but surprisingly, the videos come out really good.
Everything is good about the camera, so where is the cost-cutting? the OPPO Reno 6 5G doesn’t have OIS which means, videos may come out a bit shaky.
OPPO has marketed this phone as a Camera phone but the lack of OIS is not a good thing for camera-centric smartphones.
Coming to image quality, the 64MP primary sensor does take good images whether its low-light or good lighting, OPPO has done a good job with cameras.
That 8MP ultra-wide lens also takes good images but I would recommend you to not use an ultra-wide lens at night because the images lose out on details. Now, that 2MP sensor is just for marketing, so let’s ignore it.
OPPO is known for selfies, so you don’t have to worry about the front camera but if you expecting the images to come out natural then you will be disappointed. The 32MP front camera does take good images but sometimes, selfies do come out soft which won’t be a huge problem for most of the users.
Overall, considering the price tag, I would have loved to see OIS support because we also have OnePlus Nord 2 5G and this phone has OIS support and a better chipset too.
Before you order OPPO Reno 6 5G from Flipkart, make sure you Read OnePlus Nord 2 5G review because it has also the best camera Under Rs 30,000.
Performance
The OPPO Reno 6 5G is powered by all-new MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G (6 nm) and it’s running on Color OS 11.3-based on Android 11. Here is highlighted part, the device has 13 5G bands which include n1, n3, n5, n8, n20, n28, n7, n38, n40, n41, n66, n77, and n78.
The MediaTek Dimensity 900 is a new processor from MediaTek and Reno 6 5G is the first smartphone to come with this processor. The chip comes with Octa-core (2×2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) CPU and Mali-G78 MC4 GPU.
By the way, there won’t be any kind of problem while playing games or watching movies but still, I feel, MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G (6 nm) would have been a better option because the OPPO Reno 6 5G is priced at 30k in INDIA.
The good thing is, MediaTek Dimensity 900 doesn’t need an extra modem for 5G because it’s integrated with the chipset.
Overall, OPPO Reno 6 5G performs every well whether its gaming or watching movies but this is not a gaming smartphone, so if you want a pure gaming phone then do take look at the POCO F3 GT or if you want the overall best smartphone then OnePlus Nord 2 5G is also a good option.
Battery and Audio Quality
The OPPO Reno 6 5G comes with a 4,300 mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. The battery size is small but it does have 65W wired charging, so there won’t be any problem.
Also, the MediaTek Dimensity 900 is battery efficient processor but still, the phone will last for a day or less because the battery size is small. The 5,000 mAh battery would have been better.
By the way, the phone has a mono speaker which is quite loud but still, it’s not as good as stereo speakers. It also has a secondary noise cancellation microphone which does help a lot while calling.
