OnePlus Buds Pro 2 is terrific earbuds but it comes with some disadvantages as some of the features are exclusive to the OnePlus 11, Nonetheless, let’s find out in this review whether it’s worth the Rs 11,999 price tag or not.

OnePlus Buds Pro 2 Price

The OnePlus Buds 2 Pro is priced at Rs 11,999 in India and $179 in the USA. The buds are available in Arbor Green and Obsidian Black color options while it will go for open sale from 13th February 2023 via Amazon.

OnePlus Buds Pro 2

Yes, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 is worth buying as the buds have fast pairing, decent noise cancellation, fast charging, and long-lasting battery life, however, features like Spatial Audio is only available on OnePlus 11, so it doesn’t make any sense to buy these buds for iPhones, nonetheless, its good premium TWS for Android smartphone.

The Spatial Audio tech is made by Google and it will be mostly available in smartphones with Android 13, so there is a chance that other Android phones will support Spatial Audio, however, it will never support on iPhone.

So if you wanted that Spatial Audio feature and if you have iPhone or non-Android 13 devices then kindly, stay away from the OnePlus Buds Pro 2.

Overall, OnePlus Buds Pro 2 are well-made TWS earbuds by OnePlus and they give that premium feeling while using it, so if we ignore the Spatial Audio then these are worth the Rs 11,999 price tag.

OnePlus Buds Pro 2 Features

Sound Quality

The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 has 11mm and 6mm audio drivers. The sound quality is fabulous for the price it comes, now the only problem is the bass.

The bass is not too high, so if you’re like me who love bass-heavy music then you might feel disappointed. OnePlus has also provided the equalizer with the HeyMelody app, so you can play around with the sound but still, the bass doesn’t go as high.

Now, if you love to listen to classical music then you will fall in love with OnePlus Buds Pro 2, it has everything that a classical music lover wants in wireless earbuds.

Also, the call quality is good too, so whether you’re in a crowded place or even at home, the buds do a good job to provide clear sound to another person on call. The speakers are solid too, so there is no issue about that.

In short, the bass is not too high, it’s kind of balanced but it’s the best for classical music.

Noise cancellation and Other Stuff

It does have Noise cancellation which works but not too well.

For example, if you’re walking around the streets and if some construction work is going on and if Noise cancellation is enabled on OnePlus Buds 2 Pro then you will hear the sound of the drill machine.

In short, the Noise cancellation is not too strong to filter the loud sounds.

Overall, for the price of Rs 11,999, I expected better Noise cancellation than what OnePlus has provided.

Talking about active noise cancellation,

Now, this work like a charm, it does let you hear outside noise without too much filtering.

Spatial Audio

During OnePlus’s Cloud Event, OnePlus brought someone from Google to talk about Spatial Audio, now Google has done good job when it comes to Spatial Audio but it’s not as good as Apple.

Also, to use Spatial Audio, you need the latest Android 13, and we all know, everyone doesn’t have the latest Android OS.

Now, if your smartphone runs on Android 13 then don’t get to exist it because the Spatial Audio is kind of hit or miss, it works the best sometimes, and sometimes, it feels gimmicky.

If you’re an iPhone user then forget about the Spatial Audio as it doesn’t work with iPhone at all.

The moral of the story is, don’t buy the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 for Spatial Audio.

Connectivity

OnePlus has added Google’s fast pair tech which means, every single Android smartphone will connect with OnePlus Buds Pro 2 instantly, just like Nothing Ear (1).

For iPhone users, the buds have the latest Bluetooth 5.3 support which means, the connectivity and even the battery are rock solid.

In short, no issue with the connectivity at all.

Battery Life

I didn’t expected the battery life to be this good, so first, let’s appreciate OnePlus for whatever they have done with the battery.

The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will last for about 5 to 6 hours with ANC ON and the charging case will last for 26 hours. Now, if you disable the ANC then you can expect the battery to last for 8 to 9 hours and the charging case to 39 hours.

Of course, the battery life depends on the volume, so if you keep the buds volume to 100% all the time then the battery will come down to below 5 hours.

Even after that, if the buds don’t last for even 5 hours then you can always use the fast charging. The 10 minutes of charging will provide 3 hours of battery backup.

Overall, I’m very happy with OnePlus Buds Pro 2’s battery life, it’s rock solid.

Summary

OnePlus Buds Pro 2 is a good premium option for OnePlus users, so if you have iPhone then kindly stay away from them. Also, if you have a Non-OnePlus device then you can consider it but some of the features are OnePlus exclusive, so it bit hard for me to recommend these buds to Non-OnePlus users.
